Most of the staff very nice, place is clean. The reason for 3 stars is I made a reservation and canceled it in 20 minutes to stay with my daughter at another place. When I tried to cancel my reservation the guy behind the counter said I would not get my money refunded. So I ended up staying or loosing my 80.00. Cost/Benefit Analysis: Good benefit for cost. I recommend this establishment. I found this facility to be very clean and well organized. Check in was very efficient and our site was plenty long enough for our rig. The ice cream social was a hit, although we had to pay for it. :-) There was a well-maintained pool on the property - - with a maximum depth of 4 feet. Yikes. Flies. For a stop-over campground, this is a great, clean spot. Sites are level gravel with grass in between all. Hookups and sewer are in good spots for easy access. Could use a lil more shade trees but local weather probably plays a role in that... There is a small dog run area, playground, nice pool, and even a basketball, corn hole area. The south side of the property has a large grass area too...go run your dog or have a catch! Bathrooms and showers were clean, laundry available, and a few necessities/souvenirs in the office. Ice cream in the evening and pancakes in the morning for a small charge. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The owners are hands on and take an active interest in maintaining the property. My stay was a bit unusual...truck broke down and had four nights of waiting on a part. Watched many folks come and go. Felt welcomed by Mark and Deb (owners) who helped me thru the unplanned extended stay. Good for RV's, trailers, tents, and those looking for a cabin. read more

This is a great koa. It is a great way for us to split up our drive to CO. The owners are very nice. They always chat with me in the morning. They allow pets, too. The pool and facilities are always clean and in great condition. I usually stay in a camping cabin. It is very clean, though sometimes it has an odd smell when we first get in and needs aired out. There's A/C and heat. The cabins are close to the bathrooms and store. There is a sweet little dog park, too, which is a blessing when the pup needs to burn off some energy before we get in the car for another long haul. Overall, great place to stay, highly recommended! read more

Pleasantly surprised for a KOA: My husband and I were traveling and thought we'd save some money by getting a cabin here instead of the usual hotel room. The desk staff was incredibly friendly and the grounds were inviting and well kept. Our cabin was clean, but we did notice a broken handle under one of the windows. Also, there was a substantial gap underneath the door (so DRAFTY!!!) Other than those few issues, this was a good choice. read more

Good and bad. Probably the nicest KOA iv ever been to, one of the rudest grouchy employees ( likely the owner) Iv come across at any campground! When we had decided to stop it was 7 pm and so I called and got a message that the after hours info was in the box to the right of the door, so I went up to get it and this man walked up to my right and addressed me. I told him I was looking for the after hours info and he said " read the sign" well I had just got there and had not even seen any sign yet nor did I know who he was. The sign said " I will be right back" and there was no late night info in the after hours box. We then set with him to fill out his paperwork and by now someone would give me the lot number, he wouldn't. He had to lease us there ( 4 lots down) in his cart. By the time we filled out the paperwork my husband could have had us set up. read more

This is a nice and CLEAN RV park. Convenient, right off highway 70, there's a gas station and fast food at the same exit. The staff were very nice, and helpful. This was a perfect campground for our one night stay. The campground also has small clean lots for tent camping, each with their own picnic table and privacy fence. The office prepares pancake & sausage breakfasts (smelled good) but had a very limited sundry supply. Overall, excellent KOA; safe, convenient, and super clean! read more

Oh boy where should I start with this? How about the phone call to make the reservation. The lady who took my reservation whose name I found out later is Deb was very rude. Forceful and overbearing with her tone of voice made the phone call awkward and a a mood spoiler. We were only stopping over for one night, so I figured no big deal. We check in and a young man escorts us to our site. He assists us and has us stop at a certain point in the site. I step outside to have a look and notice one of my rear slides will extend into some tree branches and I don't want my paint scratched up on the slide. I request to move up and the kid says to go ahead and then my neighbor steps outside and says if I move up he won't be able to make it out. I have a look and realize that this guy has a legitimate concern. I ask the young man if I can move onto the other side so as to solve the problem since this guy will be leaving before us in the morning. He says he will need to ask Deb, but he has other things to do at the moment. My wife goes inside to ask since the young man has more pressing matters to attend to. She comes back outside and says Deb's attitude and demeanor in the office was very rude and says she will be outside momentarily. So me and my neighbor are standing outside scratching our heads when Deb arrives. All I can say is wow!!! She proceeded to tell us in no uncertain terms that exiting the campground is our problem. If there is some type of issue then we will need to work it out ourselves because it is not her problem. No one will be allowed to move. Then she got on her golf cart and darted off. I can't remember the last time I have seen someone as rude as this woman. I cannot even wrap my mind around speaking to my customers the way she did in this scenario. My advice? Just stopped by for the night on my way to Colorado. Perfect place to stop for the night. Small, simple campground. It's got a small playground for kids, a dog area (a fenced in patch of grass), and a swimming pool. The bathrooms are kept very clean, but if you are over 5 feet you're going to have to squat to get your head under the water. Overall, very satisfied with my stay! read more

This was a cute and quiet KOA just off the 70. The hostess was a treat (with her adorable guest-greeting dog) and the facilities were well kept and comfortable. We had a cabin for the night, and called ahead to let them know we'd be a later check in. Not only was everything ready for us (keys, maps, codes, etc) but our room heater was already on with such a cold evening! I can't tell you how much I appreciate the thought and hospitality. Very neat and clean campground. It has a nice playground for kids and an area to walk dogs that is very grassy and spacious, plus a very nice fenced dog park. Also has a small swimming pool. We were shown to our site by the friendly people that work here. Staff were all very nice and welcoming to us. Free wifi that is actually working! :) Had exceptionally neat tent camping areas with grass and picnic tables and the back side of them fenced. We only stayed here one night. I would give a 5 if spaces were shaded and farther apart, but it is beautifully landscaped and exceptionally well kept!! They also served a pancake breakfast while we were there in the check in/store area. They are remodeling that area and it is going to be very nice. We woudl definitely stay here again and recommend to others!! read more

Three stars for cleanliness and nice sites. But the grumpy hosts yelled at my toddler and my 10 year old in the store. Not cool. My children were being well behaved and supervised (the hosts didn't see me in the doorway.) Will not recommend this KOA. read more

Well run, clean, easy access and priced fairly.

True this campground is right off the highway and pretty much the middle of nowhere, but that is the point. It is meant to be a stop for travelers crossing the US, not a destination. It is clean, and surprisingly quiet for being very close to I70. The wifi worked well and lots of cable tv stations to choose from. There is a (very) small pool on site but the four kids splashing around seemed to think it was great! Each morning is an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast ($2.75 per person). We didn't use the shower but others were and the bathrooms were clean. They did have a dog area, but not fenced in. It would be a nice addition to have an area where the dogs can be off leash for a little while. We were in a small motor home. There are two small cabins onsite plus areas for tent camping. read more

This KOa is okay. Right off the highway so very noisy for sleeping. The pool needs some work. Laundry has 4 washers but only 2 dryers so makes it difficult to get everything done. The town of WaKeeney seems very abandoned. Not much there. read more

The facilities are clean and the staff are great except the manager (i think she must be the owner because an employee would be fired for how she speaks to her customers). The campground's website said that they allow up to 8 people per site for the reservation price (we have a family of 8). When we arrived she charged us for extra people. When we pointed this out to her, she told us we were wrong. We showed her the website and she told us the website was wrong too. After an awkward discussion she finally refunded us the overcharge, but was very demeaning and rude to both my wife and I. I recommend NOT rewarding this owner with your business. Stay away from Wakeeny KOA. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! I only have one star because I had to in order to write the review. When we arrived here, I was in the middle of a tachycardic heart episode brought on by stress due to a severe storm coming in. I was breathing in a paper bag to slow my heart rate and called the office to see if they would allow us to go straight to our site and wait out the storm (I even explained my heart condition). She said no and that I had to come into the office. So in I went with my paper bag and carpopedal spasms happening. She YELLED at me, told me how I shouldn't be panicked, that she is a cancer survivor, and that she has Jesus. When I told her I have Jesus too, she yelled even louder, "Then trust Him!!!!" She literally screamed at me! If I wasn't a believer in Christ already, I would want nothing to do with Jesus. She is a bitter, mean woman who is a poor example for Christ. I will NEVER stay here again or even recommend it to anyone! read more

We are traveling across the country and have been staying at KOA cabins along the way. We generally love KOAs...but this one doesn't have the typical KOA feel. Initially I thought it was a nice enough place considering there aren't many options in the middle of nowhere. It's just a field on the side of the interstate. Customer service is lacking to say the least. The part that really disturbed me was my experience with the owners after I used their washer and dryer and their dryer shrunk our clothing because it was not operating correctly. I set the temperature to "low" on the setting. When I walked back into the the laundry rooms and was met by the male owner who was also in there. I asked if it was smoky in their and he said the dryer "ran hotter than most". I immediately opened the dryer door and tried to get my clothes out...I could even touch them they were so HOT!! Once I was able to gather my clothes I saw that several pieces of our clothing was ruined! A football jersey actually melted together! A fleece that was a size M couldn't fit my 3yo nephew. When I brought it to the mans attention he simply said he didn't know what I wanted him to do about it. I asked for a payment so I could replace our clothing...to which he replied that the dryers at used at "own risk"! If he would maintain his equipment or state that the dryers aren't working properly I could have made my own informed decision to use the dryers...I wouldn't have $200 of ruined clothing. It's clear they care about one thing...making money. Save yourself the frustration and stay someplace else. There are KOA's on either side of them off 70. read more

Was surprised at the 2 1/2 star review on this one. VERY clean and nice park. Staff super friendly and out going. So that may have changed from spring. I just left a 2 star reveiw for another KOA, and we travel full time so I try to review when I remember. The lots are long and clean easy in and easy out. Ice cream in the evenings and Pancake breakfast was nice to have this morning so we didn't have dishes :) Would stop again. Nice pool - may need some love before next season, but clean and nice chairs. Play set was older, but nice for the kids. I would recommend and stay there again. Book early they filled up quickly on a Wednesday evening lots of traveling one night stoppers like us. Price was good and no charge for extra's over 2 which is a huge plus! Were had 5. read more

Good One Night Stopover park. The lady owner was a bit testy and pretty short on people skills, to say the least. The man and the son were ok. All great amenities. FH, pool, store, clean bathroom/shower facilities, fantastic cable and very good Wifi. Right on interstate, so you'll have some noise. No trains around. This interstate exit has a very good truck stop for fuel and misc. There's a convenience store with fuel as well. This is an easy on/off the interstate stop. Sites are fine and level for our 36ft 4 slide 5th wheel. Recommend. read more

We stayed here for one night in the middle of a long trip. I'm giving one star because the front desk lady was EXTREMELY rude to us. She ran up to my window and without saying anything else, forcefully informed me that, "we enforce the 5mph speed limit here". Ok... I nodded and smiled and went on my way. I pulled up behind our rig to unload my son and she got on her golf cart and raced up to me to tell me to, "get off the grass!" Seriously, lady? I just got here after a very long, very bad journey and I'm a paying customer and you're going to treat me like that?? (Only my driver side tire was on the grass. And about 5 inches, if that). Highly irritating and off-putting. It's a nice enough campground being located right off the highway, but I do not appreciate being yelled at and lectured by an angry old woman. You can recite the rules to me in a kind way without making such a very bad impression on your establishment. read more

i willnever stay at a koa again!!.. the lady was extreamly rude! ive never seen such horabble customer service!!.. they mention you have a yard but dnt mention you cant use it!!.. tryed putting my table out nope cant do that i was a monthly along with 8 other monthlys at 650 ..5, 200 we put in this horrable ladys pocket .. i got yelled at for every lil thing totes ..my grill.. my dog.. my dog because i was holding leash in my hand trying to shut my camper door and he peed n the grass when they have a walking spot.. hello i was trying to shut my door!... bitched because my out side camper light was on they pay the electric and i need it off now!!.. bitched at people.. who had dogs on leased not walking them right bitched at how we parked workers led people to wrong spot and she jumped them infront of customers i didnt let my dogs out i took them to a local spot!.. this is the worst i mean worst place to stop and spend your money since we was monthly we used their laundery room giving them extra 40 $ a week think we would get treated better save your money read more
