Perfect stop for the night. Pretty lakeside sites or large roomy sites without trees but quiet. All pull through sites, some tent sites, concrete pads, most are electric with water. Dump station. Restrooms with showers (not fancy, but clean). Pet friendly, but watch for stickers in grass. Excellent price. I would stay here again. read more

Nothing fancy, but it was a great place to stop for the night. Seems like a very relaxing place, and I'd definitely stop there again. I arrived after dark and was only passing through, so I opted not to set up the tent and instead slept in my compact SUV, which is set up to sleep in with a Luno air mattress. The area was well lit at night, and I felt very safe. The campground: It was small, quiet, flat, and had a decent amount of shade. The area I stayed in had pull through spots that faced the water (a reservoir, I believe). There's a small dock on the water. My site included a picnic table, grill, and water spigot. I'm not sure about electric hookups and dump stations, since I have no need for those things. The bathrooms were clean, although a little spider-y, and had both toilets and showers. Booking: The campground does not take reservations, which I think is great, as it allows me to be a little more spontaneous. There's a self-pay station in front of the bathrooms near the entrance to the campground. I stayed here on a Monday night in late October, and had no problem getting a site. The area: Ellis is a small town. If you're arriving later in the evening I would recommend stopping to eat somewhere prior to arriving in Ellis. In the morning, I made a quick detour down the main street and saw a café, a pizza place, and a Mexican restaurant. There's also a railroad museum. The campground is pretty close to the highway; right off the highway are a couple gas stations with fast food places inside. Cell Service: I have Verizon, and my service was good enough to stream a live hockey game. The campground said it had WIFI, but I didn't try it out. read more

Well...the water and electrical connections were good. The pad was flat. The majority of the sites were shaded. The septic was full and my tank was also full. Found a dump station at a different location the next day. A sign indicating that the septic was full would have been most welcome. read more

We stayed one night here after picking up our new travel trailer in Denver on the way home to Oklahoma. We loved staying here! It was so pretty and easy to get to. The facilities were nice and clean. It was so pretty next to the river and being down the street from the town. I wish we had time to explore the town but had to get back on the road. Would definitely stay here again! read more

On a balmy August afternoon we pulled in this excellent campground in Ellis Nebraska. It was a peaceful, scenic place with sites facing the river. We checked ourself in placing $20.00 in the registration envelope. It was manicured and clean. What a deal for the money! Electrical and water worked flawlessly. They have a dump station and are located a mile off 70. Don't tell your friends about this place as there are only about 20 sites. read more

What a great little gem. I was driving through and spent one night here. Lots of trees to provide relief from the hot sun. It was like an oasis. The bathrooms and showers were clean. Electric, water at the sites. Dump station by the bath house. Local kids came by to fish. Cute little town. I've learned it as a favorite of I'm coming through here again. Only $20 read more

We have stayed here several times while traveling through KS. It is a city operated park. No frills, has water and electric. Newer side has concrete pads, 50 amp and water. Restrooms are closed in winter and up to mid April. About a mile south of I-70, easy in and out. 5 star is in comparison to other city/county parks we have stayed in. read more

Beautiful campground owned by the city, $20 a night in season. $15 in off season w/water and electric. Also a dump station. Well kept grounds right by the water. Many locals were fishing, so bring your pole! Quite a few varieties of fish. A boy caught a 14 pound bass. Quiet area. The restrooms were very clean and there are showers at no extra charge. The gravel camper pads are very level and there are also concrete pads. Lots of large trees. There are 26 spots and it fills up fast in the summer so stop a bit early if you can. This is a cute little campground and pretty quiet for the most part and is perfect stop for one or two nights. About 8-12 full hookups with 30 amp service. All sites are level and your view is along a river with many large old trees. $15 for off season and $20 for in season. As an aside unlike so many commercial campgrounds the free internet access has great bandwidth. It is first come basis (no reservations). The reason Ellis Lakeside Campground is not receiving five stars is because tree limbs hit our roof. That is bad maintenance! We did hear a couple trains during the nights so bring ear plugs if noises keep you awake. Also most important: Our GPS told us to turn right on Monroe which was not correct. Don't do that! At Monroe you will see the RV Park on the left, and the park on the right. TURN LEFT! read more

Traveling full-time in a 42-foot coach we've stayed in over 400 RV Parks. We stayed here during August 2019 for one night and we also stayed here in 2018 for four nights. We really enjoy staying at this RV campground. The campground is located in a very quiet residential area. All sites are spacious and face the river. Be aware this is a first-come, first-served campground so no reservations are accepted. (1) Dust, some parks are so dusty that even after just a couple nights your unit needs a bath, this place has no dust. (3) Level pads, big coaches need paved or thick gravel pads that are level. We give this park a 3-star rating for having level gravel sites. This park had the most generous sites we'd ever encountered! The amount of space between sites was absolutely amazing. No crowded sites here! (3) We live in the age of WIFI technology and there is nothing to stop any RV Park across this country from investing in doing WIFI properly. This RV Park does offer WIFI, however we did not realize that until we were ready to leave. (4) Maneuverability, some parks have very narrow roads which make backing up and turning very difficult, we found this park to have plenty of room to maneuver. (5) Satellite, satellite reception can be hard to receive whenever there's large trees. If you stay away from the sites with the tall trees to the south you should receive reception here. (6) Phone Service, we have AT&T which worked great here. (7) Dog play and potty, plenty of room to walk your dog here, but no off-leash fenced dog area. read more

One of the nicer non "commercial" places we have stayed and only $20! Great trees, perfectly level lots, picnic tables, grills and restrooms with showers. It is right on the water. All pull-throughs and some at the farther end have fire rings also. They have water, electric and a dump station. I couldn't ask for more for an overnighter spot. read more
