I broke my arm and the doctor from wake orthopedics made me wait two days to be seen he did not feel like seeing me over the weekend. Then when I finally saw him he only gave me a brace to put on and said to take Advil...you could tell he could just care less about me. I now have an arm I cannot use it won't move up past my hip and I am in constant pain. Please do not go to this group of doctors. They advertise one patient at a time, I am totally surprised they have any patients left if they treat their patients the way I was treated. Now I have pain every day, my arm did not heal right and it will not move up very far at all. It is so hurtful that I had to be treated this way. I am now looking for a good orthopedic doctor that can hopefully fix my arm so that I can live without pain and actually use my arm again. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE TRUST ME YOU WILL BE SORRY. CAN YOU IMAGINE GOING TWO FULL DAYS WITH A BROKEN ARM BECAUSE THE DOCTOR DID NOT WANT TO COME TO ER TO SEE ME OVER THE WEEKEND? The rating isn't a reflection on the Dr. himself, it's a reflection of the place being poorly managed and overbooked in regards to a patient's time. I live by some simple rules, one of those is an old military saying "to be on time is to be late" so I typically try to time my arrival to my appointments 10-15 minutes before the appointment time. For years, this has generally worked to my advantage. I strolled into Wake Ortho of Cary at 3:27, 13 minutes early. It wasn't until 4:45 that I actually got to see the Doctor, more than an hour past my scheduled appointment time. This kind of disregard for a person's time is unacceptable and unreasonable by my standards. I realize it's not the doc's fault - it's the people doing the scheduling and overbooking the day. I've never had this kind of issue at the New Bern location. When I did finally get to see the doc, we talked for about 5 minutes regarding my injuries and the potential for further treatment being negated by the progress so far. I was very satisfied with that part of the visit. If I need to visit Wake Ortho again, it will either be at the North Hills or New Bern location. The Cary location needs to do better with scheduling. read more

Don't go here unless you want to hurt the rest of your life. Dr Ryan Gentry was my doctor if you can call him that. I broke 4 vertebrae"s in my lower back and he did absolutely nothing but therapy with hard any pain medication and I was in Excruciating pain. He should be fired for being a no care doctor. I had two other doctors to tell me they were other things he could have done in the first 4-8 weeks that I would have had a better outcom. Beware of this doctor he is the worst I have ever had and I've seen a lot with my acciden. read more

3 stars for Raleigh and Cary.... I've been a patient here for a few months after a bad experience at Raleigh Ortho. I'm so happy I switched because Dr. Jenkins is AWESOME! He's authentic, knowledgeable, and makes me feel like he really cares and wants to get to the root of my issues. 5 stars for him! My only complaint is that the Raleigh and Cary offices cannot seem to run on time. Last month I arrived at the Raleigh office 10 min before my appointment and waited 25 minutes to be called back and then another 50 minutes in the exam room, I was ready to leave and go back to work when the doctor walked in. Between check-in in and out I was there over 1.5 hrs to see the doc for 10 min. Today my appointment was at 2:15 in Cary and I wasn't called back until 2:40, then I finally saw the doc at 3pm, so I with check-in and out, spent over 1 hr for a 5 min appointment. I don't understand why it's so hard to schedule the docs so their patients aren't waiting so long. Please consider changing your processes to become more efficient read more

Dr Li was completely dismissive of my shoulder pain telling me over and over it was "frozen shoulder", and suggested physical therapy. I kept pressing for an answer to the continuous stabbing pains I was feeling. Reluctantly they agreed to give me a MRI. Got the MRI, and what do you know, a torn labrum, and a SLAP tear. His ego couldn't accept that I was right, and still referred me to physical therany...Ummm...stretching isn't going to repair a tear. Sought out a second opinion, surgical repair is scheduled for a week from today. read more

I haven't got my treatment there because they cancelled my appointment . They tried to get me another doctor 1:20 minutes away from my house. And when I asked why you are doing this, the attendant said...well you want to see a doctor or not? They are rude, careless, and talk to the patients like they are doing them a favor . I think they hate their job. They might go to work in such a bad mood that they take it on the patients who doesn't have anything to do with it. You are hurt and looking for treatment, not the right place to go. 1 star just to get your attention. read more

This place is probably a good place but we did not witness this. After a hand injury we were unfortunate to be seen by Dr. Jenkins. He and his associates did not appear to be on the same page when it came to treatment. After multiple days in the hospital, and the finger flayed open, we were sent home. Within a week we were back for more antibotics from our PPPCsince we could not get in to see Dr. Jenkins. Now, a month later we sit waiting for Dr. Jenkins. At 30 min past our appointment we asked if there was an issue. The sign in the waiting room said "less than 15 min to see Dr Jenkins". We watched as at least 12 other patients(with appointment times after ours) were called into the exam rooms. We know this because we heard them checking by in and stating their appointment tines. 20 more minutes went by and we were finally called back. We were placed in a room and told to wait for the Dr. 15 more minutes ticked by when Dr. Jenkins finally arrived. He did not appear to want to hear our concerns and told us all was good. Neither the staff or the Dr. had any customer service skills. We watched the interactions during our wait in the lobby and were not impressed. The tech that took us to the back appeared annoyed.Dr. Jenkins himself was more matter of fact and had the expression of 'your bothering me' on his face as we asked questions and requested answers. The only good part of the whole visit is he stated we did not have to come back to him unless the infection got worse. That is a good thing since getting any service from this office is virtually impossible. read more

Went to see Dr. Kurt Ehlert for a second opinion. He was very rude to me treating me like I was stupid to get another opinion. I have never seen such a rude doctor before in my life until I saw Dr. Ehlert. He needs to learn how to treat patients with respect and not act like he is high and mighty just because he is a doctor. I waited 2 hours and 40 minutes for a doctor to barely glance at my injury for about 5 minutes. Four weeks later and it hasn't improved at all so I'm going to find another doctor. Oh, and they charged my insurance $415 for a hand brace that costs $28 online and then charged me $15 that my insurance didn't pay. Avoid this place. read more

I didn't have any problems with the doctor himself. However, I can't say the same about the front desk staff. I had to purchase crutches and the check out staff member told me that there is copayment for the crutches which I paid at the time. 2 months later I am getting a bill to pay the rest of the amount for the crutches. I call them to ask what it was about and the person on the phone said I am fully responsible for the crutches there is no copayment on it and whoever at the check out desk didn't know what she was talking about. It is not an amount I cannot pay but I would like to be informed what is due and covered or be misinformed and not get a random bill 2 months later. read more

My Doctor at Triangle Spine retired. I had a semi-good experienced with a physician and staff at the Falls of Neuse location when my daughter fractured her foot. When I called to make an appointment, the Cary location was the only office with availability for months. This location is 26 miles from my home and I frequently called to check for cancellations with no luck. I had two specific doctors in mind that I knew worked out of Falls at least 3 days a week. Reluctantly I went to my Cary appointment with up-to-date MRI's, x-ray's, scans etc ready for the new doctor. I also sent my extensive medical file over. My back has been a mess for years and finding pain relief is more difficult. I booked a 1 hour consultation for several chronic degenerative issues. I had been in pain for over a month when I arrived and needed guidance on next steps. I was also concerned issues with my spine may be progressing. I had a lot of numbness, tingling and things I wanted checked out by a doctor. The appointment was 35 minuets late which is almost expected today. I may not have minded if the doctor did not deduct that time from me. Once brought into a room the doctor came in, fired off questions, never looked at my scans, never examined me but quickly offered injection therapy. I had major objections and explained the injections were not an option. I had done the injections, they did not work and I was not going through the agony for one - two weeks of semi relief. Injections also mask additional symptoms. I asked why he thought I was a good candidate for this treatment and he didn't really respond. The doctor said I could discuss with the pain clinic and "go from there". There was nothing more he could do. Fast forward two weeks --- I went to the recommended pain clinic; they provided 1 service, injection therapy. I was billed $454.00 for a 1 hour consultation. Waste of time. Add in the two trips to the "pain clinic" and I wasted roughly $800.00 on absolutely nothing. I hope there is a nice referral bonus. read more

My rating is from a "quality of services provided" perspective. I had a ruptured bicep tendon, and Dr. Jonathan Chappell did the surgery to reattach it. Dr. Chappell was great, I'm completely happy with the results, even the surgery scar is fairly small and neat. I expect that in another year it will hardly be noticeable. In addition to surgical competency, Dr. Chappell is very personable (even humorous) and while he didn't sit and shoot the breeze with me, I never felt like I was being rushed out the door, like with some doctors. I've read the other complaints about the front desk staff, and can only assume that since these reviews are mostly several years old, the problematic staffers are gone. I never had a problem, and everyone was always courteous, with prompt service and proper attention. I also went to this office for physical therapy after the surgery (Colleen Schmitz was great!), so have been there nearly a dozen times, enough to see problems if they exist. My ONLY complaint with the shoe process was with the brace I had to wear for a couple of weeks after the initial splint came off, post-surgery. *After* the splint had been removed, I was told that I needed the brace, that it was $500, and that I had to sign a waiver that if my insurance wouldn't pay for it, I was completely liable for it (the separate waiver made me think they *wouldn't* pay). I felt like I was between a rock and a hard place, since the splint was off and my arm was still very delicate, so I signed it. My complaint isn't even as much with the high price (buying stuff via a Dr is always overpriced)...my complaint is that by the time I knew I even needed it, it was WAY too late to order one at a more reasonable price. I should have been told sooner and had a chance to get my own. Fortunately, my insurance paid the full amount, but I just didn't like how it was handled. FWIW, similar braces can be found only for under $125, so it's obnoxiously marked-up (again, no surprise). The "Bledsoe Telescoping Elbow Brace" on Amazon ($123) looks identical to the one I got, and the "DLX Post-op Elbow" looks functionally equivalent for $95. Make sure you get the correct "right" or "left" one! Still, my recovery is going well, I'm healing nicely, and had NO complaints about Dr. Chappell or his staff, so they get five stars from me, because the surgery and recovery are what matter to me. In the grand scheme of a surgery, overcharging a brace by $375-$400 isn't right, but is a small price to pay for good care....especially when insurance pays it. read more

I've been a patient here for a while for numerous injuries/surgeries. The staff and doctors are great but calling in to ask questions about medical records is ridiculous!!! The never answers and when they return calls the guy is very rude and hateful when leaving a message. He isn't a good representation of Wake Med and what they stand for. read more

I have to agree with the sentiment of the posts here. Dr chapple does fantastic work and I think he is probably one of the best surgeons in the area (although we never had much time to talk the results of my acl surgery speak for itself). But the organization is understaffed or poorly managed (or both) and the affects are obvious. Everything, aside from the doctor and my personal trainer, has left me wanting. The worst of it was the staff at capital city surgery where the fat nurse at the front desk proceeded to treat everyone with a mix of disdain and indifference. I think many people who do not work in medical are apprehensive and nervous about surgery (major or minor), but there was ZERO compassion at capital city surgery. It felt like being in a meat grinder. Everyone waited at the behest of a rude staff and then they cycle everyone through at a blistering pace. It was difficult to get answers and I was pretty upset by the whole experience. You and your insurance hand these people enough to buy a new car but an actual car salesman might seem kinder and more trustworthy. Beyond that. Do not go here if you EVER want to speak with anyone over the phone. I have tried calling countless times during the course of a day with no response. They do call back eventually but that is little conciliation when something you don't understand is happening to your body and you find yourself scared, confused and alone. If you are nervous about your surgery I think you would be better off with a well staffed office that can answer any questions or concerns you have on the spot. My personal trainer is great but they have a very limited pt staff and getting appointments at a convenient time can be difficult. They do there best too work with your insurance company and dr chapple made a sincere effort to keep my costs low (kudos to him for that). On the flip side, I was told very little about what to expect post surgery. Did you guys know that a huge chunk of your knee goes permanently numb after acl surgery? I fucking didn't and I can't believe no one mentioned that. I mean that seems to me to be the kind of thing you mention. No talk about what excercises I should be doing to prepare for surgery. No talk about what I will need post surgery (it's really "here is a bottle of pain pills, see you in 4 weeks"). There is so much that I feel was left out and I wish I had known more before going into surgery. read more

They keep messing up my appointment times. My appointment card says 2:00, but the appointment on file in the computer says 1:00. Happens frequently. When I DO get the correct appointment time, I end up waiting in the lobby for 30-40 minutes before someone can get to me. Then I sit in the exam room for another 20-30 minutes waiting on the doctor. Dr Hanson, who is a really nice guy, comes in and literally takes about two minutes with me and says that we'll 'feel it out' over the next few weeks to see how things go. Doesn't even offer to do anything about the pain, whether it be a pill, an injection or fluid drain. The very first time I waited for this doctor nearly 45 minutes in the exam room only to have him come in, ask me what that problem was, and then answer his cell phone in the middle of me explaining my medical condition. I have been a PT of Wake Ortho of Cary NC for several years, had surgery by Dr Casey Jenkins and I had in office injections by Dr. Okechukwu Nwoko. Both doctors and the entire staff are very efficent, they put the patient first, are very friendly and my wait time on any of my past visits have been 5-10 minutes. The doctor, mark woods is great and so is the physical therapy dept. BUT I would avoid going there again as the assistant to Dr woods never never returns phone calls or does she care about patient follow up. He name is Christy and no matter how many messages u leave her and ask for assistance, she never responds. The office manager is so weak and it reflects on everything about v the office. If u could get the doctor thru another office I would recommend him, but no way thru this office staff. AVOID Avoid. read more

Such as, i would expect a medical practice to care about their patients, not just act like you are a burden to them when you FINALLY contact them.....I never had anyone answer the phone...I ALWAYS got a voicemail. I would like to start off by saying, because of this offices lack of care for its patients, my father almost died. My father had surgery done on his leg twice, once by Dr. Chapel and the second time by Dr. Howard. He had plates and screws put in. He has been in severe pain for a while. He was admitted Wednesday, October 14th to the hospital and was discharged Monday, October 19th. There is a Physical Therapist from this office that comes to my fathers house 2-3 times a week to work with him. Today, she came to see him and he mentioned some severe pain he was having that had just started. He had a heart rate of 138 and a bruise on his leg as well. She believed it was DVT. She called into the office and left a voice mail for them informing them of the situation about 11 AM today (October 23rd). Hours later and no one called my father back. I then called their office EIGHT times and left multiple voicemails for them as my father began to do worse. No one returned the calls. We decided to take him to the emergency room to be safe. They found there that he not only had one, but TWO blood clots. One in his lung, and one in his leg. AND that with all the x-rays and scans they took on my father from head to toe (because he was in a motorcycle accident) they MISSED the 4 broken ribs he had. If we had not taken him to the emergency room, he would have died because of those blood clots. Here we are, EIGHT HOURS LATER, and no one has returned a single phone call to me, my father, or his PT. My father could have died because of their lack of care. read more

Having a accident and injuring to my shoulder was given a doctor at the hospital. I was concern since I was unable to choose. BUT am very thankfull. Dr. Chappell performed surgery and was very helpfull in answering any questions I had no matter how triavel they may have been. Everytime I went in for a follow up was seen quickly. The staff from the front desk, nurses, x-ray department , medical assistance and doctor always had a smile on their faces. I received excellent care. read more

I had a terrible experience with Wake Orthopedic. I am usually easy to please as far as doctors go. I fractured my radius and was put in a cast but the hand doctor was not there so I had to come back 12 days later. When I came back, they took my cast off even though I had just had it put on even when I said "Are you sure? It was just on less than 2 weeks ago." Then I came back 4 weeks later and they took cast #2 off. Again, the hand doctor was out so I had to come back 5 days later. They brought the cast removing machine into my room and I questioned to three of the staff whether this was necessary since I had only had it on for 5 days. The first person went to check and then the other two came in. When I questioned again, one went to check my file and the other just started taking it off. They then put me in a splint and later billed me an additional co-pay without telling me it would charge extra. I was supposed to come back for therapy the next week and then another appointment with the hand doctor 2 weeks later. This was 8 weeks after my initial fracture. I went to another practice for a 2nd opinion and they explained my pain was due to not using my wrist for 2 months but that everything was healing fine and I no longer needed the splint. Needless to say, I cancelled my two appointments with Wake Orthopedics and I will never go to them again. Each time the doctor came to see me, it was for 3 minutes and they did not treat me like I was a unique individual. They said things would heal better for people that are athletic (I fractured it playing a sport), people that don't smoke (I never have), etc. They did not make an effort to get to know me and certainly did not listen when I questioned whether the casts needed to be taken off. I was very disappointed in my experiences here at Wake Orthopedic. read more

I had an excellent experience with the staff, Dr. Curtis Hanson, and the physical therapy at Wake Orthopaedics in Cary. I had a rotator cuff tear that needed to be repaired. The ladies at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful in getting me registered and over the many therapy appointments even learned my name. The nurses were very friendly and efficient in getting me into the office, scheduling my surgery, and providing follow up care. Dr. Hanson did a great job in diagnosing the problem even before the MRI. He helped to get my surgery scheduled so I would be somewhat recovered before a family wedding. He was also very encouraging in my follow up visits and always asked about my pain. Kelsey, my physical therapist worked with me over a 3 month period to help me safely rehab my arm. She was very knowledgeable of the limits that I needed to take while healing but also helped me to stregthen my arm and guided me as to what I needed to do to fully recover. Overall, this was a great experience in medical care for me! read more
