This particular branch of Waitrose usually hosts no less than 3 screaming babies and/or children,…read moreas well as 4-5 crazy old people, whenever I visit. And yet, I'm still offering 5 stars. Why? Because it's THAT GOOD. You can call me a food snob if you must, but Waitrose gets the art of grocery shopping correct. Myself and my live-in man friend have been cooking at home a lot more, and you come to understand where to get the freshest ingredients (when the local farmer's market isn't on) and this place stomps all over places like Tesco (psh!) and Sainsbury's (lame!) and Morrison's (HAH!) Plus, sometimes, and it's a completely mystery to me exactly when or why or how, but they will give you a little green plastic coin upon checkout to donate to a local charity of your choice (via big plastic drop boxes at the door). Oh, also, Sheen is a great little place to spend an afternoon window shopping.

Dear Waitrose How…read moreare you? I hope the extension is going smoothly and the builders aren't bending over too much and scaring the kids. I'm sure it'll look awesome when it's done! How long is it till completion now? I'd just like to thank you for stocking such goodies as quinoa and goat's cream, fresh runner beans and spelt pasta, when those all around you are turning to fast-cooking-microwavable-plates-of-misery and meal deals. You are located a handy walking distance from my abode but also have good bus routes at your door for when I am laden with your fresh produce. Bravo! See you next week, Phil R P.S. Could you possibly reconsider your prices a little? £4.95 for some salt is a little off-putting. Not to mention a total rip off. Thanks.

This Sainsbury is much bigger then I thought it would be. We where here to find two things: an…read moreglutenfree meal for my sister and the real curry powder for me. We found a larg line of glutenfree stuff and other allergy free things. Especially the funny things, are the things I remember: Peanutbutter without peanuts.. and egg-free mayonnaise. Anyhow: that what they are selling, you can buy in large proportions and from different brands. If you can't find something on your list: just ask, because I'm sure they have it! On the weekend before Christmas it was a very busy place to be, so a long wait for before you can pass an other person. Oh and I found lots of different tasted and different brands for the curry powder, I bougt two versions so I'm sure that I have enough until my next trip to the UK (somewhere at the end of spring)

I admit, I am a bit of a Sainsbury's fan. My mum used to shop there when I was at home, and I did…read moremy time on the checkouts! So it's a place I know and trust. I've shopped at other supermarkets, but have always come back to Sainsbury's. This store is fairly large, but I tend to avoid it and go to the Richmond branch as this one is so busy, and they have a really small car parkat weekends for instance, you have pretty much no chance of getting a space! It's ridiculous! They also don't seem to have a large amount of checkouts open, so you end up having to wait a fair while (unlike the other branch!) This is also one of only a few places to park in Chiswick High Road. Sainsbury's bought in a policy where you have to spend £5 instore to get free parking, which I admit I have abused once or twice, but it's a bit annoying to try and remember to find your car park card at the checkoutI've forgotten to get it scanned in the past and had to go back instoreotherwise they'll charge you £50!! Anyway, it's a nice store, but parking makes it a no-no for me

Richmond Upon Thames

This is a small but charming deli that I have found to be one of my favorite places in Richmond. I…read moreventured in one day with my three young boys, and though this isn't the best place to bring in children, the staff were VERY patient and accommodating. They gave me suggestions as to what the boys might like, since it was my first time going in, and they continued to come and ask if there was anything else I might need. With three children, I need all the help I can get, so I was won over many times. We ordered ham and cheese toasties and the soup of the day with a sausage roll. For a cold day, as it was, the whole thing was absolutely delicious. The sausage roll was my favorite. I had never tasted one so good. I wish I had ordered more of them, because I had to share it with my children. In the end, after I had paid the bill, which was very reasonable, we were given free chocolate chip cookies which was a wonderful surprise, and they were scrummy. I have been in to Albert's deli many times now for the sausage rolls and once, to introduce my husband to it. The time my husband and I dined in we had baked chicken in a red wine sauce over mash and sausage rolls. After we finished, again, we were met with a free sample of their chocolate brownie. My husband said it was one of the best brownies he'd ever had. So, believe me when I say you will love this place. Clean, delicious food, and kind staff.

One of my favourite past times is wandering around my neighbourhood. And if it was not for my…read morefondness of aimless wandering, I would not have found this delightful treat of a deli set in the Alberts in Richmond. The first time I stopped by The Alberts Deli, the place was closed as I believe it was in the evening on a weekend. They had a menu posted in the window, and after taking a look, I vowed to come back one weekend when they were open. A few weeks later I finally stopped back to give the deli a try. Unfortunately, at that time, they were not serving paninis on the weekends (and I am still not sure if they do), and since that is what my lunch companion and I fancied, we decided to try another place in Richmond. However, this did not stop me from having a look round at the groceries on offer. The Alberts Deli has a wide selection of Italian staples including the seemingly ever-elusive wide egg noodles, in addition to a small American section that was stocked with pumpkin purée (in case you have a craving for pumpkin pie!). I made note of these points in case I was interested in coming back for either ingredient. Fast forward a few months to my birthday. Since it was my special day, the middle of the week and I had the day off, I was keen to give The Alberts Deli a try for lunch. I was not at all disappointed with this decision. For lunch, I ordered the 1/2 panini and small soup special, going for the spicy tuna panini and the spicy sweet potato soup. The soup was gorgeous. It had lots of creamy sweet potato flavour, and the spice was subtle to give the soup a bit of kick, without overwhelming the delicate sweetness of the sweet potato. The panini was also a winner. Unlike spicy tuna paninis at some other cafes, The Alberts Deli uses freshly chopped chillies to give the sandwich spice, not a few globs of chilli sauce, which I think gave the sandwich a better flavour. All in all, it was a great lunch, and the price was good too--only £3.90 for the combo. Add on one of their delicious espresso drinks (I can highly recommend the cappuccino), and you can have a round meal for about £6. If you happen to find yourself aimlessly wandering in Richmond, I highly recommend steering yourself in the direction of The Alberts Deli and stopping in for a hot coffee and a nice lunch. You won't be disappointed.
