It used to come hygienically wrapped, but now it is left unwrapped for all to handle, including those who have just emerged from the toilet, and those who just sneezed into their hands etc.. It is a well-known fact that the general hygiene in this country is iffy. So when customers in making their selection, do not settle for the first loaf but handle quite a few before choosing the one they want, will definitely spread contamination to the rest of us. I have taken this matter up with the floor manager today and on two other occasions but I am being fobbed off with pat answers that this is the company's policy. I ask you: Will she feed her own family with something which she knows could be contaminated? Other supermarkets provide tongs and paper bags, why cannot a responsible firm like Waitrose who say they are all in favour for a healthy living for their customers do likewise?

Simply amazing. I can't rave about this stores recent makeover enough. I feel I should get paid…read morelike a top PR the amount I have enthused for the new store... which was long overdue being modernised and this Summer saw Tesco Watford become the talk of the town and the nation, as it's the first to get the flash new overhaul and it made the news. Literally. The renovations were undertaken without closing the store and whilst I admit I did stop shopping here while they were being carried out, I returned, opening day, with a fist full of vouchers to entice me back. You now have to queue to get in the car park. But...it's worth it and they now have car park assistants who direct you to spaces (layout has changed in the car park and disabled bays are now near the main doors). Outside is the same except for the swanky new Giraffe restaurant we are lucky to have in Watford now... But that deserves its own review later! Inside. Customer services is in same place, bit small and under staffed for a super store perhaps. There's a new 'scan and shop' section which I still need to try but I see a lot if peeps are using it. Food to go area is fab. Think salad bar to help yourself, loads if sarnies to chose from and pre packed salad and sushi goodies. Also it's a good section to nip to if picnicking. Plus there's self serve tills for this section alone so it's super convenient. The new bakery. Wowsers. So middle class and rustic. I lurve. Wooden table a la farm house laden with baked goods and hearty loaves. Also a counter with lots of posh desserts (quite pricey) and cakes. It's quite hard to grasp this is now where all bread and cakes are though. But it's early days. The toilet is in this section. No sign though. Annoying. And only one in whole hench store which is disappointing. Harris and Hoole. Love the look. Great lattes. Will sample food am sure. Always busy and not keen on the buzzers they give you to wait for coffee. Bit ott. But there's a coffee cart directly outside store so I usually grab one there as less busy. Florence and Fred. Happy days. This section looks amazing. Trolleys are able to mooch the aisles and it really feels like a proper clothes store, better fixtures and layout/feel than Marks or Next. And stock is great, fab designs and cheap as chips. I always come away with something. Fitting rooms are spacious too. Rest of store super laid out. New pizza counter (still not a patch on Asda's counter pizzas though- listen up Mr Tesco!). Fruit and veg section is epic, so spacious and easier to navigate than before. Make up and health sections look great as does home wears. Proper department store vibes. Loving. Dangerous for my bank balance. Opticians and pharmacy both helpful and knowledgable. Tills are still bit queuey but lots of people are checking out the store so busier than usual I think. Defo worth a visit. You can spend a whole day in here which I guess is the point as it has a destination shopping feel now. They even do yoga and kids classes here. Massive thumbs up!!

The service is where I have to have a gripe. I prefer going to a check out and having a cashier scan my items. I do not like self-service at all. sometimes I will visit the store and there are no cashiers, so i am forced to go to a self-service to scan my shopping, i have real issues with doing this, as i not only have arthritis in my hand but have a poor eye-sight. This week, no cashiers again and so I was once again forced to scan items. Fortunately, for me one of the shop assistants, Tizi helped me, she was kind, professional and efficient, very pleasant lady. Last week, there was one till open and the queue of customers was long. There was team leaders/supervisors standing around chatted and when I asked for another till to be opened, she was abrupt and pointed to the self-service and said one of those is free, without even looking me in the eye. How rude! That is my only gripe with Sainsbury in the Parade. I will sign off with being positive about the shop assistant who was very helpful. Thank you Tizi.

For all it's worth, this supermarket just isn't bad! After a refurbishment a good few years ago,…read morethe store looks bigger, it has more stuff in it and looks like it can compete with other, much bigger, supermarkets around the area. The food on offer and the merchandising has been done VERY well and the offers are nicely spread out. I like it here and would automatically go back if given the chance. I'm not giving it a perfect score because it's location is just so poor. The main entrance is off a small side road and the car park is too restrcitive to make a decent enough turnover. Just not quite there yet!

Although small, this store has enough for you to grab basic provisions you might have run out of and has a cash till as well. This Tesco also has a few dedicated parking bays - parking in Hatch End, no matter what time of day or night - is a luck of the draw, as there are numerous restaurants on the main road so the roads are always packed with parked cars. Tesco's Finest Lasagna I was absoluely knackered after a hard day last week and just wanted to get home and crash in front of telly but had no food in so stopped by Tesco and picked a Lasagna (must be their finest line) for £3 (serves two)........being Italian I am deeply ashamed to admit I 'bought' a pasta dish....but I really couldn't be bothered to cook....I was expecting the worse but figured what the hell... How wrong could I be....it was really nice....a decent bolognese sauce and lots of it, nicely cooked pasta that retained it's bite...a creamy bechamel with undertones of bay and nutmeg and a good sprinkling of parmesean...I cooked it for a longer than suggested until the top was nicely browned and pulsating with the molten sauces and ate every single bite ....if you're stuck for a quick dinner for a guest...buy a couple of these...make a salad...get some garlic bread...and enjoy....really nice.
