Simply amazing. I can't rave about this stores recent makeover enough. I feel I should get paid…read morelike a top PR the amount I have enthused for the new store... which was long overdue being modernised and this Summer saw Tesco Watford become the talk of the town and the nation, as it's the first to get the flash new overhaul and it made the news. Literally. The renovations were undertaken without closing the store and whilst I admit I did stop shopping here while they were being carried out, I returned, opening day, with a fist full of vouchers to entice me back. You now have to queue to get in the car park. But...it's worth it and they now have car park assistants who direct you to spaces (layout has changed in the car park and disabled bays are now near the main doors). Outside is the same except for the swanky new Giraffe restaurant we are lucky to have in Watford now... But that deserves its own review later! Inside. Customer services is in same place, bit small and under staffed for a super store perhaps. There's a new 'scan and shop' section which I still need to try but I see a lot if peeps are using it. Food to go area is fab. Think salad bar to help yourself, loads if sarnies to chose from and pre packed salad and sushi goodies. Also it's a good section to nip to if picnicking. Plus there's self serve tills for this section alone so it's super convenient. The new bakery. Wowsers. So middle class and rustic. I lurve. Wooden table a la farm house laden with baked goods and hearty loaves. Also a counter with lots of posh desserts (quite pricey) and cakes. It's quite hard to grasp this is now where all bread and cakes are though. But it's early days. The toilet is in this section. No sign though. Annoying. And only one in whole hench store which is disappointing. Harris and Hoole. Love the look. Great lattes. Will sample food am sure. Always busy and not keen on the buzzers they give you to wait for coffee. Bit ott. But there's a coffee cart directly outside store so I usually grab one there as less busy. Florence and Fred. Happy days. This section looks amazing. Trolleys are able to mooch the aisles and it really feels like a proper clothes store, better fixtures and layout/feel than Marks or Next. And stock is great, fab designs and cheap as chips. I always come away with something. Fitting rooms are spacious too. Rest of store super laid out. New pizza counter (still not a patch on Asda's counter pizzas though- listen up Mr Tesco!). Fruit and veg section is epic, so spacious and easier to navigate than before. Make up and health sections look great as does home wears. Proper department store vibes. Loving. Dangerous for my bank balance. Opticians and pharmacy both helpful and knowledgable. Tills are still bit queuey but lots of people are checking out the store so busier than usual I think. Defo worth a visit. You can spend a whole day in here which I guess is the point as it has a destination shopping feel now. They even do yoga and kids classes here. Massive thumbs up!!

After 4 years of ordering food for a nursery from Asda Watford with little, infrequent incidents of…read morelateness or rude drivers, this week we have experienced the worst customer experience that anyone can imagine. The driver refused to use the ramp for the trolley, but called to ask for the 6 crates of food to be picked up from the bottom of the stairs. There are clear instructions on the account on how to access the nursery and in 4 years no driver has had any difficulty getting to us. When the driver was told to use the ramp, he said ok. A staff member went outside to guide him, but to our shock he had left. We had to run to a local shop to buy food for the nursery children that day. The order was marked as cancelled. We called the store, explained to the manager, who said the driver would return in 1-2 hours. He did return, only to do the same thing all over again - refused to use the ramp, moreover raised his voice and put the phone down on the nursery manager. The Asda Watford manager then called the nursery trying to explain that his driver is right in not delivering the food at the door - something that his colleagues did weekly over 4 years, without any issues. After some words were exchanged, the driver then came to the door, stacked the crates right by the door, rang the doorbell and left. The nursery door opens outdoor and by doing that he blocked the door that is also our fire exit. It took one staff member significant force to push the door open, pushing the crates out of the way and causing them to almost collapse. The store was called again, they claimed the manager had left, the same manager who had called us 10 minutes before. When I asked for their complaints procedure, I was told there is no need for me to do it as they would file a complaint on my behalf. The order remained marked as cancelled on the account, meaning that we could not ask for a refund for the 7 items that were not delivered, all frozen, so the entire frozen products crate was missing. We called the Asda helpline twice, explained, gave the list of missing products, but there was no resolution. We remained out of pocket. 3 complaints emails were written, again no reply and not even an acknowledgement that they were received. This is the poorest ever service that we have received and we are more appalled by the lack of action from the managers and the complaints department than by the terrible attitude of one rude driver.

Well, where is this "massive George" section? The specific reason I drove half an hour to get…read morehere. 3 sales rails and 1 meter squared of normal non sales clothes is not what I call massive. Not even adequate. The store was madness. If you have hours to mince around to "come across" what you want then it might be suitable. Trying to find prepared fruit was like the holy grail. The crisps have all the cheap multi packs, but lack considerably the other type, with a very limited selection. I gave up trying to find a bottle of 500ml fizzy pop. The sandwiches looked like a pack of locusts had attacked them as there were hardly any left apart from the really naff ones that nobody really likes. As for ten queues to pay, well that was about enough to send me over the edge. Queued for ages to use the self service till, and let's face it, they never are self service as the darn things use any reason to halt your shopping to get store approval. Then you sand there and wait like a convicted criminal for sentencing until the staff deign it necessary to Come over and approve whatever crime it is that you have committed. So, I shall delete this ASDA trip from memory, and avoid it at all costs. Hated. Every. Second.

A huge organic selection. A whole shelf of tea. Racks of dried fruits (I am not addicted to dried figs), nuts (cashews!) and I even found jars of sunflower butter here...which is surprisingly good and a good alternative to peanut butter (which they also have). Fantastic ethnic cooking section chock full of sauces, ingredients, grains, rices, beans and any element you probably need, spices, decent bakery with breads, rolls, pitas, etc. Eggs and dairy, beer, wine, a lot of coconut water, and a fresh produce section (outside) which is standard, but nice to have. Things you won't find: fresh meats or fish. Par for the course! The family that runs it is very friendly as well (always so polite!) and I always leave feeling quite good about supporting a local food shop that is not only convenient, but tucked away from the madness of the Old Street roundabout. However as this place is so huge you'll probably still find what you are looking for. Since I've lived in Oxford I've come here about a dozen or so times. We tend to try and stick to mid evening as the crowds die down a bit and they are not quite into their horrible restocking mode. Generally you can find fresh products and a wide selection of near everything (do not come to this Tescos if you are looking for home goods/ electronics/ etc). The prices as it is Tescos are decent. It's got a huge range of items, although no adult clothing (other than underwear) or much in the way of electronics/media/toys, unlike even bigger stores. For groceries, though, it's got a lot to offer. Fruit and veg are of good quality and usually well-stocked. The deli and fresh fish counters offer a lot of choice, and they even have a large 'Polish food' section. They have two 'car trolleys' which amuse small (and big) kids greatly, and make the shopping trip easier with children who are too big for the trolley seats but too small to walk all the way around without whining. Staff are friendly and helpful, and offers on food are good value.

The service is where I have to have a gripe. I prefer going to a check out and having a cashier scan my items. I do not like self-service at all. sometimes I will visit the store and there are no cashiers, so i am forced to go to a self-service to scan my shopping, i have real issues with doing this, as i not only have arthritis in my hand but have a poor eye-sight. This week, no cashiers again and so I was once again forced to scan items. Fortunately, for me one of the shop assistants, Tizi helped me, she was kind, professional and efficient, very pleasant lady. Last week, there was one till open and the queue of customers was long. There was team leaders/supervisors standing around chatted and when I asked for another till to be opened, she was abrupt and pointed to the self-service and said one of those is free, without even looking me in the eye. How rude! That is my only gripe with Sainsbury in the Parade. I will sign off with being positive about the shop assistant who was very helpful. Thank you Tizi.

The food on offer and the merchandising has been done VERY well and the offers are nicely spread out. I like it here and would automatically go back if given the chance. I'm not giving it a perfect score because it's location is just so poor. The main entrance is off a small side road and the car park is too restrcitive to make a decent enough turnover. Just not quite there yet!
