The store has a very big car park with plenty of Disabled spaces.
Walking round the store is a bright and pleasant experience unlike the dire battleship grey experience of the competition's Superstore at Hand Cross.
The low price attached petrol station is handy.
The paper and cigarette shop is as you walk in with a good magazine rack further into the store.
Flowers always seem fresh and cheap though you may need to double up on the numbers of blooms per offering.
The staff are usually, friendly, polite and cheerful. (There are one or two exceptions which need weeding out).
Fish Mongers, Charcuterie, Barbeque, Butchers, and Bakery sections are particularly good with very helpful staff.
Crusty loaves are extremely good and staff very ready to slice them for you.
The Victoria sponge cream cakes and the chocolate cakes are too die for !
The recent addition of a big bank of self service machines has been a boon.
I breakfast every Sunday in the Cafe. The very cheap price makes it not worthwhile for a singleton to buy the breakfast makings at home.
Breakfasts are usually good but the big big irritant for me is that I like chips with the meal. And chips are not available until early lunch starts - at 11.30am I think.
The Cafe has recently undergone a major overhaul, introducing a modern Quaker style. And indeed the Cafe looks very smart.
Unfortunately someone has favoured 'looks' over ergonomics and comfort. How can a design expert be so silly ? How can Board members not sit down and have a meal themselves before giving the rubber stamp. The now round tables for two are ridiculously small for even one. The upshot is that singletons occupy the tables for four. Probably the opposite result of what was intended. But the main bone of contention is the chairs. Extremely hard, extremely uncomfortable seats - fare less comfortable than those they replaced. You have the crazy situation of people swapping the chairs from table to table (some are just a tad less uncomfortable on the uncomfortable scale).
All in all I am happy to drive a distance to this Superstore passing other stores on the way. read more
