Now I wouldn't ever have gone into Waitrose as was always under the impression wrongly that it was expensive. Actually it's not. this one is practically on my doorstep so I'm saving on petrol and I really enjoy popping in here to get treats now and then. Also it's great if you need to nip into town as you can park for an hour or so do your shopping and nip to the post office etc. Has lots of delicious exotic food treats, eg the amazing own brand pizza's are yummy. Great choices and recipes. I never have a problem parking after work, though it can get busy at other times. Great building, light and airy and everything looks so good and is so well presented and well lit. their own brand products are reasonable priced and mostly delicious, the ready meals the organic section. I don't really notice or take home the fruit and veg so I can't comment on that. But it always looks good and fresh. It is a step up above the basic supermarkets but it's not really expensive and definitely worth it. Staff friendly, talkative, interested in you. Enough tills open. Great opening hours though not 24 hrs which is fine. read more

One of the more friendly Waitrose supermarkets I've been in for awhile. Since their refurb, everything seems to be easier to find and there seems to be more selection. Whether I'm popping in for something quick or searching for my husband's favourite coffee ice cream, the staff have always bent over backwards to help me. The food may cost a little more but the quality cannot be disputed. I am willing to spend a bit more for quality and this certainly delivers! read more

We started shopping in Waitrose because we hated shopping in Tesco - the sterile lighting, overcrowding and miserable staff really made shopping a chore. We thought we would spend more on our weekly shop in Waitrose - but we actually spent less because we were happier and didn't just throw anything in the trolley so that we could get out quicker. Waitrose is a smaller store, and doesn't have as much choice on offer as Tesco - but that has never been a problem. They stock everything you need and many of their ranges are much higher quality food. Except at peak periods (lunch time, Friday evenings and Saturdays), the store is a pleasure to be in and you won't get stuck in a trolley jam. But the best thing about Waitrose is the staff - they are an absolute joy to encounter, professional and efficient but also cheerful and friendly. And if you sign up for a Waitrose card then you also scan your own shopping, which is a real timesaver if you're in a hurry. read more

Made the mistake of going into Waitrose on the day the global Prosecco shortage was announced. What met me was a scene reminiscent of the doom of Pompeii. One woman stood on top of an upturned trolley whacking anyone close with a ring of chorizo whilst a man threw cup after cup of scalding Waitrose coffee at the girl manning the customer service desk. The staff tried to take refuge behind the patisserie counter but were overwhelmed by a high pressure fountain of Sicilian lemonade. Got the milk I was after though, 6/10 would visit again. read more

I've always been a Tescos fan, but since moving to Abingdon two years ago I've become a solid Waitrose convert. The meat and veg here are much higher quality than the local Tesco - you do pay a little bit more, but what you lose in your pocket you gain in flavour! Always busy, and the staff are always friendly. The only downside - I wish they'd re-introduce their Lightly Smoked Salmon Fillets again! The best supermarket in Abingdon by miles. read more

As supermarkets go, this is a good-un. Tesco is on the edge of the town but shopping there is just hard work. Waitrose however is a refreshing change. I always use the self-scan gun and with that I'm usually in and out in minutes. Always well stocked and the fruit & veg standard is alot higher than that of Tesco. Prices aren't as high as you might think and now that Waitrose have their own essentials range, you can shop there on pretty much par with the other supermarkets out there. Friendly staff and an environment that doesn't feel frantic, I'd shop at Waitrose in preference to Tesco every day of the week. read more

The Waitrose store in Abingdon is a nice one, well laid out and the shelves are fully stcoked unlike Tesco! The prices are a bit high for my weekly shop, but for bits and pieces that you wouldnt find anywhere else, or just for a few bits while Im in town then it is good. The staff always seem very friendly and helpful, and there arent usually any queues at the checkouts which is nice. The car-park is pretty big, but always seems quite full as people tend to use it for shopping in town as well - I have to confess that I am guilty of this! But you can usually find a space without too much trouble. read more

For some reason, I always find food shopping more enjoyable in Waitrose than anywhere else! The Abingdon store is a nice size, arranged very logically and has lots of yummy food to entice me with! I bought a hot chicken from the hot chicken counter the other day, and it tasted as good as it smelt in the car on the way home! Waitrose staff always go out of their way to help, be it packing your bags at the till or helping you find what you are looking for. It always seems to be the same lady doing the tasting and she is always really friendly! The parking is good too, lots of spaces near the shop, and is policed so people dont park there for work and block up the spaces. read more

This is a nice branch of Waitrose- big enough to have a good range of products, but not so huge that it takes hours to get around! It has a large car park so I have never had trouble having a space. The supermarket is well laid out, with a wide range of really tempting products. It also has a good range of free recipie cards that you can pick up- I have made several of these and always enjoyed them. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help. If you go at busy times there are often tasting stands set up so you can try before you buy. Also usefully in the wine section there is a bottle chiller if you fancy a bottle of wine not kept in the fridge. read more
