Actually it's not. this one is practically on my doorstep so I'm saving on petrol and I really enjoy popping in here to get treats now and then. Also it's great if you need to nip into town as you can park for an hour or so do your shopping and nip to the post office etc. Has lots of delicious exotic food treats, eg the amazing own brand pizza's are yummy. Great choices and recipes. I never have a problem parking after work, though it can get busy at other times. Great building, light and airy and everything looks so good and is so well presented and well lit. their own brand products are reasonable priced and mostly delicious, the ready meals the organic section. I don't really notice or take home the fruit and veg so I can't comment on that. But it always looks good and fresh. It is a step up above the basic supermarkets but it's not really expensive and definitely worth it. Staff friendly, talkative, interested in you. Enough tills open. Great opening hours though not 24 hrs which is fine.

However as this place is so huge you'll probably still find what you are looking for. Since I've lived in Oxford I've come here about a dozen or so times. We tend to try and stick to mid evening as the crowds die down a bit and they are not quite into their horrible restocking mode. Generally you can find fresh products and a wide selection of near everything (do not come to this Tescos if you are looking for home goods/ electronics/ etc). The prices as it is Tescos are decent. The staff are generally friendly as long as you're not getting the end of shift crowd. PROS: Large selection Good quantity of stock Price CONS: Gets ultra busy Leftover stock can be of bad quality Other side of the ring road.

It's got a huge range of items, although no adult clothing (other than underwear) or much in the way of electronics/media/toys, unlike even bigger stores. For groceries, though, it's got a lot to offer. Fruit and veg are of good quality and usually well-stocked. The deli and fresh fish counters offer a lot of choice, and they even have a large 'Polish food' section. They have two 'car trolleys' which amuse small (and big) kids greatly, and make the shopping trip easier with children who are too big for the trolley seats but too small to walk all the way around without whining. Staff are friendly and helpful, and offers on food are good value.

It is quite a small store compared to the one at the Peachcroft shopping centre in Abingdon, but they are open for quite extended hours which is handy when you run out of milk late in the evening or have a chocolate craving! There is a post office inside the shop which is useful although sometimes has big queues, especially as this is also the tobacco kiosk. They dont offer all post office services such as road tax though, so check before you go whether they offer the service you want! Most of the staff are either school kids or have just left school so dont expect the most helpful service. But otherwise, generally a good shop in a good location.

They have a good selection of bakery items such as pastries and bread rolls, although I remember when this Budgens used to be a co-op and the bakery was much nicer then! We are lucky to also have a post office in this budgens, as I know a lot of post offices have had to close in recent years. It does get busy from time to time, but they do seem to be quite efficient at getting the queues down.

They have quite a big choice of items on the instore bakery counter, and I noticed the other day that they now sell the things they have on the bakery as part-baked items in the freezer section. An interesting new addition to the store is the coffee-to-go machine and sandwich selection. Im not quite sure who would be buying coffee from the machine at peachcroft, as I imagine most of their customers live nearby! But I am happy to be contradicted on this! The shop also has a tobacco kiosk. Although Budgens always seems quite busy, there is not usually a queue for the checkouts which is good!

I's not just for buying stamps and posting parcels, they also have a good range of basic foods (including some really good bread baked in house), it's a real life-line for a lot of older people in the village. There are sandwiches, hot snacks and tea and coffee available too. They also stock a range of really unusual gifts - some foodie type stuff like jams and preserves as well as interesting jewellery and ornaments etc as well as greetings cards. The couple that run the shop are lovely - always welcoming and helpful.

Clifton Hampden Stores is a family run business with a small Post Office counter, they stock cards and gifts as well as all the essential grocery items you'd expect, fantastic cakes and locally made jewellery. They also do Ecover refills if you take in your empties. I discovered recently that they offer a dry cleaning service at very competitive rates too. The owners, Emma & Glenn, are very friendly and welcoming, as are the other staff, and I'm sure many of us pop in as much for a chat and to see a friendly face as to actually buy anything.
