The main disadvantage with the Hythe store is its proximity to the University of Essex. At weekends, the supermarket is overrun by students stocking up on cheap booze and crisps, meaning the store is extremely busy and a nightmare to shop in. Also, Tesco Hythe does not have quite the same range of non-food goods as its bigger brother up the road. In all, good but not perfect.

As mentioned by previous reviewers, a fun feature of the store is the travelators, which allow you take a trolley up to the clothing department. Even I, as mature as I clearly am, cannot resist the urge to walk the wrong way down these flat walkways, pretending to be Michael Jackson (before he went weird, of course!). The store itself offers most of the usual features, such as food, a bakery, fishmongers and entertainment. In all, a decent store with cheap prices on everyday goods.
