I would highly recommend Wai Bodywork to anyone! I have frequent migraine, partially due to tightness in my upper trap muscle. Wai first did active release on the area via assisted stretches and/or push motion, targeting different muscles one at a time, and. then he did deep tissue massage. I left the room feeling so much lighter around my head and neck. I also have pretty tight lat muscle from rock climbing, and Wai worked on them and helped me with my range of motion. I've been going to Wei for over 3 years now. He is the absolute best. I played college water polo and now have a baby, lots of pulled muscles and fatigue. Wei is the best at curating the massage to my needs. He is also one of the most affordable masseuses I have found in SF. Cannot recommend him enough. I have recently experienced extreme lower back pain, diagnosed as a muscle spasm, but medications were not working. I told Wei about my issues and he focused on the lower back, even using tools to help loosen it. He constantly checked in to make sure I was not in pain and that the pressure was okay. WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE. I have a herniated disc and permanent damage as a result of Wai's massage. I came in for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. I was under the impression that this would be a standard massage appointment, similar to several I have gotten through ClassPass in the past. Upon starting my massage, Wai started using several tools and back-cracking positions that were not typical in a massage. That's when he explained to me he practices BodyWork, a mix of chiropractor and masseuse techniques. Immediately after the massage, once I had gotten home, I had shooting pain in my back and was unable to walk for nearly 10-15 minutes when an episode occurred. This happened several times a day. Shortly after, I went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with a disc herniation at the age of 23. I was never injured in this timeframe; nor did I engage in any strenuous physical activity. Was it a coincidence this happened right after my massage with Wai? No. His massage meant to relieve my back tightness left me with a permanent issue at my young age - now I have to invest time into PT and potentially surgery to fix my back. And live with a life-long condition. He has robbed me of my health and youth - without even putting a disclaimer as to the risks of his procedures and the deviations he takes from typical massages. If I had known he did chiropractor techniques, I never would have gone. Never go here if you value your safety or health. I regret ever going. read more

I knew had to take advantage of it and booked 60min Swedish massage with Wai. The price were incredibly reasonable compared to other massage places in the area, and I was impressed by how clean and inviting the studio was. It was especially reassuring to see that he had a portable sink with hot water availed in his room. Overall, I left feeling completely relaxed and amazing.
