They fixed my wiring issues and found a few other issues as well. My truck is back and running like new. Great place for all your repairs.

On Thursday, October 26, 2023, I was traveling down Rte 95, in the middle lane, going about 75mph. Suddenly a car in the fast lane ahead of me, swerved into the middle lane, only to reveal a deer crossing the road. I hit the deer square on! I got to the side of the road, police came, I was brought home (unhurt, my Volvo saved me). I called R Stewart, where my car was towed, to find out what I needed to do next. They connected my call to Dickie Stewart, who offered to call all the reputable body shops in the area, as well as Volvo in South Portland, to see the best and fast place to have my car repaired. I had never been in a situation like this and Dickie quickly took the situation out of my hands and handled it. I never expected a towing company to treat me this way and his kindness touched my heart. Within the hour, my car was towed to a reputable body shop. Thank you Dickie for going above and beyond, when I really needed the help! Sandra Morrissey

Messer Truck Equipment - Charged wire harness

I had Messer swap over my Fisher snow plow gear (2017 equipment ) from the old truck onto the new truck. I thought all was well and thought I had zero issues. Then in the spring of 2026 electrical gremlins arrived. I started intermittently loosing power, loosing certain functions only to have them return the next day. For example my horn alarm started sounding for no reason during down pouring rain, my brake light and trailer lights stopped working, the HVAC system went haywire. I had a list of issues the length of my arm. During my last drive the voltage gauge showed around 9 volts, leading to eventual power failure and a tow. Put it on a battery tender and it started the next day. I suspected alternator failure leading to the dead battery. I replaced the alternator ($925) and just to be safe got a new battery. This didn't fix the issue and I next replaced the high amp fuse. Money out the window as this also didn't fix my issue. Finally I took it to Berlin City Toyota for troubleshooting. A few days later they told me the culprit was improper plow harness installation. They told/showed me my plow harness had been improperly installed and was forced through the factory grommet which after did not allow a proper seal. Over the next several years, every time water got onto that harness(snow, puddles, condensation, car wash) it slowly wicked down the harness, though the grommet into the cab. This water continued down the harness into a connector where it shorted out, arched and damn near caught my truck on fire. Due to where the harness and connector are located behind the kick plate I was blind to this. Toyota explained they couldn't guarantee the problems I was experiencing were contained at the scorched connector and the truck needed "exploratory surgery" to ensure other connectors and components weren't damaged. Their recommendation was a complete replacement of the factory harnesses behind the dash and throughout the truck. The final bill was over $13,000......yeah (don't forget the $925 alternator and $300 battery) While this work was being performed I met with a local mechanic friend who told me he used to work for Messer and told me "this is what they do" He said the proper way to do this install is to add an additional 45mins-hour to the job and create a separate point of entry through the firewall for the plow harness. One that doesn't share a grommet with the Toyota harnesses. He explained Messer doesn't do it this way because by not spending the extra time creating a new point of entry into the cab they save time and get 3 more jobs done that day. The customer doesn't realize any of this and by the time they do or discover damage they are out of the 1 year warranty on the labor. I just think this is piss poor business. Unfortunately I doubt it's limited to Messer and others do the same thing. I won't go back and highly encourage anyone with a plow installed by Messer to take a look at their work. Follow that harness back into the truck. Make sure they put a "pigs tail" in the wire (mine was tight and at a downward angle from the grommet to the connector) Look for moisture on the wires and after a car wash look for dampness on the carpet/mat.

Upon filling a police report I found out this had been an on going problem and they had been there multiple times to remove people from my bus.. Do any know any lawyers that could weigh on my legal rights here!?! 1) it was an in going problem I was only made aware of a month after it started... 2) I have it on good authority that the part is available from junk yards which leads me to believe they decided not to fix it at some point so as to not he held accountable for what had transpired while it was in their care.. 3) they were aware of said problem and didn't nothing to further secure my vehicle or the belongs within or to try tighten security if their lot not even putting up cameras.. just a fair warning to never bring your bus to Palmer springs company in Portland Maine

Seemed reasonable and I liked the tech and counter. They were real people, no fluff, and I felt confident they could and would do the work as discussed and got me in the following week. Will update later. Not sure of the bad ratings. I found staff very friendly and helpful and available when I needed questions answered. My truck was worse than anticipated, discovered after parts came off. Took longer than I was expecting. And was somewhat more expensive than I thought. But this was a big repair to frame and truck bed. Work was excellent best I can tell. Even my mechanic was impressed when he took a look. I would be back.
