We had a group lunch here for family members attending a relative's funeral. The room reserved for us turned out to be too small, but the staff quickly found additional seating for the overflow. The service was excellent, and they managed to get a fairly large group served and on our way in about an hour. The food was superb. I had the large chicken-fried steak, which was hand-breaded and very good. The mashed potatoes appeared to be instant, which was a little disappointing, but finding a genuinely hand-breaded chicken-fried steak cooked this well is becoming difficult. Too many places now serve something that seems to have simply come frozen from a bag. Everyone in our group was happy with their food. The atmosphere was perfectly fine, although I'm not particularly concerned about a restaurant's lighting or décor when the food and service are this good. I definitely recommend this place, especially in a city where so many of the locally owned restaurants have permanently closed. read more

3 meats with no flavor & everything else was just bland. They have so much potential , they just need to make better food. The employees were nice & environment was also nice. That's it. I paid $25 read more

Good food, fast, friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Ordered to go & was ready when I arrived.

Don't let the old reviews fool you. This is a FANTASTIC place to eat. I had the 2 meat combo with ribs and brisket. My wife had the pick 2 with ribs and sausage. Fried potatoes and beans on the side. Everything was SPOT ON. The ribs, brisket, and Sausage is real wood smoked (no liquid smoke). Ribs were fall of the bone tender. Brisket was perfect with a correct smoke ring and sausage was excellent as well. The beans were not bbq but perfectly cooked brown beans with a tad of seasoning. I'm a long time stick smoker and am very picky with my smoked meats. Trust me... DON'T PASS THIS PLACE BY....... read more

I have been stopping here when passing through fro work for several years. Its never been the greatest BBQ, but most often is PK enough and the service is friendly. For some time its seemed to be slipping on food and service. I stopped this last Saturday and I dont think I'll be returning. The only friendly staff was the young lady that seated me and got my drink. From then on service was rude and painfully slow. My ribs were over cooked and obviously old... the brisket even worse. I attempted to share that with my waitress and she just turned and ran off. It took forever to just get my check and pay out..... read more

We are staying in Woodward for a few weeks for work. Decided we needed ribs for supper and ordered from Waggs. We got the 3 meat dinner with ribs x2, and HOT links. Yes, they were hot, just perfect. Sides were mac and cheese and beans. The mac and cheese was average but the beans were deliciou! Not your average baked deans, but very tasty pintos. The meal was the perfect amount for my husband and I to share with no leftover! read more

I hate to leave bad reviews for a small town place but the food was not good. Their meats have never touched a smoker. The brisket was like jerky. The hot links were sliced and pan fried. The ribs were ok but not smoky and a little chewy. You can tell all their meats are baked. Places that smoke their meats, you can smell the hickory around building inside and out. Not here. I love the atmosphere but the food is the star and it flops. When you ask what they recommend and they say the chicken fry, then you know the BBQ is not the star. read more

Wagg's Bar-B Q - That is brisket and hot links! - Barbeque Near Me - Woodward, Oklahoma

Visited for a catering job and they were the best customer service and food ever. Great people.

Love the chicken fry!! Great barbecue brisket too. Great service always. Stop I. For some great food.

Take out was good. Pricey but the call in and pick up through the drive through was great.

For a party of 4, we had ribs, brisket and catfish. The ribs tasted like liquid smoke The brisket was dry and tasteless and the catfish had little taste. Additionally, it sent all of us straight to the toilet with upset stomachs. read more

Even after the reviews of this place we decided to give it a try. Reviews were absolutely correct! Pour service and mediocre food! The ribs I ate were actually decent. I was very pleased with this option. Sadly this was the only pleasure. Service was horrible, they over charged me, brought me the wrong food, and the sides were not that good. Trust the reviews. This place needs to regroup and fix the menu and the service. read more

We were in Woodward for a job today. Got a recommendation from someone there about Wagg's. We ordered and headed down the road with it. My Philly sandwich was pretty tasty, the fries were just okay. My cohort had the Pigg and it smelled amazing. I sampled some meat and it was incredible. I can't give great feedback on the service since we ordered and dashed. read more

Wagg's Bar-B Q - the interior of a restaurant - Barbeque Near Me - Woodward, Oklahoma

Avoid: Tried the 3 meat Combo. Ribs, brisket and sausage. Came with two sides. I chose beans and okra. Brisket was dry and flavorless. Absolutely no smoke to it. Sausage was rather ordinary, like any kielbasa you would boil. The ribs were the only thing with any flavor. They were certainly moist with a hint of smoke. The menu (on news print) said Mr Wagg puts on a generous portion of the family rub seasoning. didn't taste a bit of it. Okra, also flavorless, not even salt. The beans were cowboy style. They were ok if you like that style. I dont. Heck, all of the beer is only 3.2%. If this is the best BBQ Woodward has to offer then, keep driving. read more

Wagg's Bar-B Q - Avoid This Place - Barbeque Near Me - Woodward, Oklahoma

Service is good. Food: Ate here with wife once. Took important clients once Both times, everyone said ribs were dry and tough. Brisket decent but lacked depth, pigg sandwich flavorless and sausage had taste and consistency of Ekridge Farms from walmart...fatty and mushy. Never got the "que" flavor in any samplings. Price point lends you to believe it will be amazing, but is in truth, underwhelming. Locals brag on it, but being from Texas I've had many better plates in my life. Have another 6 weeks here and may try it again before I leave, but will have to hear the quality has imoroved. read more

Passing thru and wish we would have never stopped here.. chopped beef sandwich was dry and no flavor ... fried catfish was too thick (almost not fully cooked) and we couldn't even eat the coleslaw it was so sweet! Not a good experience for the price! read more

Not even sure about the food. We were moved from seat to seat several times until we got sick of it and just left. The lemonade was watered down and the salad bar was average. I guess that's a plus considering most places dont even have a salad bar anymore. We will not he back. read more

Came here not knowing anything about it. Was very good and really loved the decor. Got catfish and it was cooked perfectly. Got 2 filets and could've eaten both but just ate one. Cole slaw was delicious and I wish I had the recipe. They chopped it very fine which I loved. The price was good too. Had a good eating experience here and will definitely be back. read more

I took my employees here the last time we conducted an estate sale in Woodward, and they all had an absolute BLAST. The barbecue leans more toward Texas/Austin-style and less toward Memphis-style (my personal favorite). That said, the prices were reasonable. The service was fast and friendly. All in all, we were all quite happy. read more

I just had lunch here with my family and I'm very impressed! The restaurants I've been too while visiting Oklahoma have been very disappointing but this place is actually really good! Atmosphere is very cool, waitress was sweet, food came out quick! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone who likes bbq. I got the Pig hip btw. read more

First time my family of 4 tried this restaurant. Smoked chicken was dry and didn't taste fresh. Prime rib was overdone, not juicy and cold when it was served. Beef fajitas meat was reheated brisket that had been over cooked and I'm pretty sure was yesterday's smoked meat. Only thing we had that I thought was even worthy of the $100 ticket was the turkey sandwich and fried mushrooms and that's a stretch. Extremely disappointed and I'm not one to ever write a review! read more

We've always had good food and good service at Waggs. It's one of our favorite places to eat.

Edible if you are hungry. I'm perplexed that this passes as legit BBQ. No real flavor at all. The sauce I suspect is over the counter and not very good. The price would make you think you were getting great quality but it's just flat and uninspiring. The service is strange, one lady seated me, didn't mention the "newspaper" was the menu, didn't suggest anything when she asked for a drink order and then I was handed off to three different servers. All were nice enough but I was getting a little confused. All in all this place is a pass. They wouldn't last 10 minutes in a place with decent BBQ. read more

Fun ribs and catfish joint with an enjoyable and authentic "pioneer" atmosphere. Captures the spirit of northwest Oklahoma's past with Native American-themed artwork in a nicely preserved rustic "old west" building. Food is significantly above average when compared to the town's other offerings. A salad bar is available (a rarity in these parts). The menu is presented in a clever newspaper format, which includes tidbits of local history. It's a nice casual alternative to the several chain restaurants in town. The staff is very friendly and attentive. A best bet for the area. read more

OK, do you go to a barbecue place for the sides? Or the meat/barbecue? So what is the problem if the SIDES are better than the 'cue? Something wrong, huh? I have eaten at the place over the years when I travel to Woodward for work. It has definitely been better. I mentioned after my meeting that I was going to go to Wagg's for lunch since I thought they had good barbecue. The folks at the meeting said that I would be disappointed; that it had gone downhill. Well, wish I had listened to them. They were RIGHT!! I HATE reheated meat at a barbecue place. I know, I know meat is expensive. Maybe it's a necessary evil in this day and age but at the prices they charged for lunch $15, I should not have to put up with barbecue that was cold and then reheated. You can tell obviously. The ribs were good but like I said......reheated. Not very warm but tender. The brisket on the other hand was almost inedible. Tough; lean; cold. Not much smoke flavor or bark. If not for the sauce, really no flavor on the brisket. I was really disappointed on the meats.....which is the MAIN reason to go to a place for barbecue is it not? On the other hands..........the sides (greenbeans and slaw this time) were great. Greenbeans hot, fully flavored. Good. Slaw was a sweet based slaw but had a little garlic kick that made it good. But honestly, I won't be back until I hear that they have improved on the meat. Gotta find another barbecue place in Woodward until then..............LOL Friendly staff. Thought it was also funny this day...........guess the uniform of the day was ball caps or hunter caps and jeans or camo......because if you were not in one of these, you were out of place as to the patrons! Like the nice touch as to a newspaper printed menu with some fun facts about Woodward. read more

Stopped in on the way west, after having heard a lot of folks say this was the place to eat. The parking was easy and we were met the moment we walked in the door, we were seated quickly and our order was taken quickly as well. We found the food to be ok, nothing to rave about. The building and its furnishings are part of the reason to visit, just a bit of local color. read more

Fly infested and dirty greasy seating. The food isn't good. They do catfish on certain days but I'm not a bottom feeding fish fan. For some reason people eat there probably cuz the town has limited eating choices. We went for another try, and 2 of the party was called complaining of stomach distress hours later. If there were -5 stars, this place would get them. Yuck read more

I agree with a previous review that mentioned Wagg's is a good alternative to chains, but it does have some flaws. The service was ok but not great, for example during the meal no one offered to refill our tea. As for the food, the Philly cheesesteak was very good, as were the pinto beans and Wagg's special thin-cut fries which are like potato chips. On the down side, the chopped BBQ sandwich was just ok, not bad but nothing special and the BBQ sauce was sweet but with no bite. But I've saved the worst for last---it was almost 1:00pm and we decided to order the blackberry cobbler with ice cream and after about what seemed to be about a 10 minute wait we were informed the blackberry cobbler would not be ready for another hour so basically they missed any lunch hour sales. If you're going to have something on the menu, have it ready when when people want it. That was very disappointing. All in all, if you're in the area give Wagg's a shot, especially the cheesesteak and the Wagg's fries. read more

Our gang of 5 in for lunch just now. DG and me have already eaten another place so just sampling. But getting a meat sampler plate and Blueberry Cobbler. DG having Peach Cobbler. Definitely the most delicious BBQ in town. I live in Tulsa but find myself craving Waggs and needing my fix when I'm in Woodward visiting family. Great decor and atmosphere. Catfish was fantastic and the service was Great. Well worth the time and a Great value.

If you are looking for good bar-b-q, the kind that the brisket is so moist it melts in your mouth, so tasty you don't need to smother it in BBQ sauce just to be able to swallow it don't stop here. The brisket was incredibly dry, the Coleslaw is completely white and sour, the polish sausage was decent but then it's kinda hard to mess that up. My husband got the pork. I wish I had gotten a pic of it before he sent it back. It looked like it was pulverized, and it was really dry. The okra was cold and the breading kept falling off. The service is as poor as the food is bad. We had 3 different ones, and only one offered to refill my husbands drink as we were getting up to pay. When she came to give us our ticket she did ask how it was. My husband told her it was horrible she gave a sarcastic "I can tell". No, he didn't eat much of it, he tried to smear BBQ sauce on it but it didn't help at all. The pork looked so nasty he didn't even want to try it. It wasn't in strands like pulled pork is, it looked like ground pork. The corn on the cob wasn't done, and his okra was the same as mine. The BBQ sauce was watery, I had to add honey to thicken it up. If you are craving good BBQ, don't stop here. Maybe their catfish or chicken fried steak is better than the BBQ. We won't be back to try them. This was $40 down the toilet. It sucks I had to give it a 1star just to post this review. Wagg's BBQ certainly doesn't deserve a star. read more

Soooo goood!! From the fresh wonderful salad bar, to the smoked meat and BlackBerry cobbler!!!

Service was horrible!! Waited 20 min. for our waitress. Overall we had 3 waitresses. No one came by for refills we had to stop them each time for refills. Food was mediocre nothing great. We had the Cajin sausage plate, seafood platter and the Turkey sandwich. No one at our table was impressed. To top it off the atmosphere was uncomfortable. Will not return. read more

Well ... I liked the Decor. And the Staff was friendly. That's worth the two stars. But my order ... Fries, soggy and undercooked. The Chicken Battered Steak was beaten to death really bad before soaked in old fat. The "best" was the Entree, my bull balls. Deep fried. They tasted like chicken, which in this case was not bad. read more
