Disappointing.
I got the impression that Wagamama was some Asian fusion dining experience. With dishes ranging from Japanese mixed with Chinese, Indian, European and watnut.
It sounds interesting until you actually take your first bite and discover it's nothing more and nothing better than your regular Asian take-out. Flavors are bland and the menu is overly chique. My Yakitori Duck was basically a Chinese duck wrap, however the duck was marinated so called Yakitori-styled. I rather have the Chinese thinly sliced whole duck instead of this mish-mash of shredded duck and sauce. The wraps were cold and a bit soggy, in other words not fresh.
And this was just the food. The service was bad. Yes it was opening week, but considering the prices you could expect staff that was well informed and on point as far as serving goes. Forgetting drinks, not knowing who ordered what despite writing your order on your placemat.
It might also have to do with the interesting way their kitchen, or kitchens work. Apparently they operate with multiple kitchens that each cooks their own food resulting in your table's food arriving at different times. I waited while another table companion got to eat, and I started eating while someone else was waiting for her food.
All in all very unsatisfying. I might come back some time but the food and service better be (more) on point than last time. read more
