I have been several times to this restaurant and what I like most is that it feels (to me, a non Japanese) like a restaurant in Japan: the way the seating areas are arranged and the decoration and the fact that you can order by pressing a bell and all the pictures of the food. The restaurant is not like the typical all you can eat Japanese restaurant (and there are many of them in the Netherlands, usually owned by Chinese). I think the food tastes better at Genki Tei.
We had ordered several dishes to share and I also had a chicken ramen. The ramen, the soup and the egg were really nice, but the chicken was rather dry. Gyoza porc also tasted nice, but my sister said she likes the veggie one better. The tempura was nice, we ordered the assortment, which had prawn, fish and veggies. We also tried the veggie okinomiyaki, I didn't think it was that special but the people I was with liked it. Veggie fried rice was OK but not special, it had mainly cucumber flavour. My mom really liked the Tiger sushi roll (I think it had a prawn tempura inside), I only tried the egg sushi, and it was OK. We did have to wait longer than usual before the dishes arrived (both for the sushi and the warm dishes).
I like sharing platters with others and this restaurant is suitable for this. Overall, I would come back again, for the variety of flavours and the atmosphere. read more
