I was introduced to Wagamamas last year by my Manager at work who said she thought we both deserved a treat for working so hard. And I'm SO glad she took us to this place...I haven't been back yet but definitely intend to take my friends there to sample the cuisine. The seating remnded me a lot of my dinner hall at school which wasn't exactly the image I would have liked whilst going out for dinner. However, we got sat down and settled and didn't really pay no mind to anybody else sat around. The service was extremely quick and I liked how friendly the staff were. I have a severe nut allergy and the staff were so hepful in giving me information about what I could and couldn't eat and reassuring me that I would be catered for. I ate a lovely Miso Soup and also tried their white chocolate cheesecake which was extremely naughty....The price was fantastic for the food quality and quantity. Although I think it would be nice to have smaller tales and booths, I think the seating adds to the ambience of the place and really gives it that something different. read more

Wagamama is a chain of pan-asain inspired noodle restaurants which is still not very widley known in the North. Wagamama diners are popping up all over the place but are yet to hit the big time with those that love to eat out! This is lucky for me as there is always choice of where to sit when I want to eat there! (Seating is the only downside in the noddle bar. There are only 6 tables which are the width of the large room that can take up to 4/5 parties at a time...sometime it can feel a little crowded) Wagamamas won the retailers award in 2008 and most popular London restaurant not only in 2005 but in '06, '07 and '08, Woweeeee! I personally feel these awards were very much deserved. Don't be afraid to try something a little different. It feels quite liberating to leave the knives and forks and eat with chop sticks to nibble on pickles and sauces I never new existed! All the Raman dishes are yummy scrummy and like nothing you would order off your standard menu. Not feeling very creative, have the Cha-han, a prawn and rice dish that is just divine. read more

Since the new restaurant opened in Trinity however there has been a significant drop off in people visiting this 'outskirty' eatery, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for those that don't like being sat directly next to people that they don't know. read more

I'm a Wagamama fan, on account of their website always has very cool games (and Hot Steve used to be the developer what made them and that), and also I like a nice big plate of thick udon noodles (omnom). This Wagamama, however, left a fair bit to be desired. The food was plentiful and tasty and hot and good, but the service was sparce (even though it was relatively empty), poor and disappointing. We waited for someone to seat us, and were told 'someone will be with you in a moment', and they weren't. Prior to my new found appreciation for asian cuisine, entry to Wagamama was to say the very least daunting. The building itself is spectacular, and the pillars were intimidating me as if they sensed my usual distaste for bad bad bad asian food, and my now avoidance of it. Ok it's overdramatic but I didn't feel at all at ease at the experience. Surprising to my head impression, Wagamama is really bright and sprightly and buzzing with the hum of conversation over the intimate tables. 30 minutes into your Wagamama experience this gets a little annoying as the bright lights and gentle hum turn into eye glare and echo noise. Wanting something not too outrageous or adventurous, I left it to my mate to pick out what I was to eat, he had a few guidelines as what I didn't fancy and thus picked me out the Chicken Tama Rice, mainly as it was one of the only dishes without either peanuts or ginger in it. This irked me somewhat, well until it arrived, and it was rather nice I must say, pleasantly surprised, not blown away bit it was rather lovely. The threat of the chopsticks scared me a bit, and after a few failed attempts I did start to feel like a proper tool. As an Asian-American, I like to think I know my Asian cuisine. Some of the restaurants in the Europe that claim to be Asian cuisine serve okay food, but it's rarely authentic. The fruit juices sounded delicious so i ordered orange and passion fruit juice, although the passion fruit flavour could best be described as absent. This is a nice place in a handy Leeds City Centre location. The Service is always decent enough as is the food, but certainly nothing special. It has a lively and friendly atmosphere and is great at Lunch time. My feeling is that it is a little over priced for the overall standard and it is not somewhere I would rush back to. read more

I only have one friend who will go to Wagamama with me. Similarly, I'm the only person she knows who will go to Wagamama with her - so whenever we meet up for lunch more often than not we end up going to Wagamama. I've always liked Wagamama; I like the atmosphere, the staff are friendly and attentive, and eating the food makes me feel like I'm being healthier - as if eating noodles and vegetables once will cancel out those three pizzas I ate the previous week. I'm a big fan of noodles. I'd even go so far as to say I was a "noodle enthusiast" if such a thing existed (I don't think it does), so I ordered the Yaki Udon and gyoza as a side dish. My friend ordered chicken tama rice and chilli squid as a side. The chilli squid arrived first and was cooked to perfection. A lot of people don't like squid because of the texture (it can taste like rubber bands or old chewing gum if over-cooked). But I'm a big fan and I have to say, it really was delicious. The gyoza arrived next and they were steamed dumplings from heaven. I don't even really know what gyoza are, but I would happily order four or five portions and instead of a main if it wasn't totally frowned upon. Then my friend's chicken tama rice arrived - freshly steamed and colourful, I felt healthier just looking at it. So my friend and I chatted, and she told me how good the chicken tama rice was, and I guzzled some more gyoza and chilli squid, all the while looking over at the kitchen, hoping my Yaki Udon would show up soon. Now, I know that the food is cooked freshly as to order and won't necessarily arrive at the same time as the other dishes, but my friend had nearly finished her chicken tama rice before my Yaki Udon emerged. When it finally arrived, it wasn't the steamy taste-fest I had anticipated. Have you ever accidentally left a pan on a high heat for too long? And when you remember, you return to the pan to find it's a charred mess glued to the bottom of the pan? You know that whatever it was you were cooking (say, stir fried noodles with meat and vegetables) is ruined but you're hungry, so you attempt to salvage the burninated mess by sloshing half a bottle of oil into the pan and chiselling the mess out with a spatula and gloomily eating it even though it tastes horrible? Well, I think that's what happened to my Yaki Udon. It was a greasy, charred mush. I was really disappointed. I've never had a bad experience at Wagamama, but I really felt like my main had been thrown in a wok and forgotten. The meat and prawns were burned on one side and the noodles were oily and slimy. Normally I plough through a plate of Yaki Udon, but I gave up once the indigestion set in. In the evening I ordered a totally non-healthy pizza to make up for the lunchtime sadness. I'm hoping that this was a one-off, and that the Yaki Udon will make a return to form next time. Or maybe I'll just order the chicken tama rice (or some other steam-tastic, nutritious-looking main) when I next make a trip to Wagamama. Or maybe I'll just order five plates of gyoza and try not to feel judged. read more

If you fancy Japanese food but aren't into all that slimy sushi kind of stuff, Wagamama is one way to ease your way into eating Japanese. They have an array of Japanese dishes that are tailored for us Brits with a contemporary twist. Its perfect for families, couples, anyone with a good palate. I love coming here as I always leave satisfied and knowing it's healthy too is such a plus. I went through a phase last year of not eating here after contracting food poisoning, I'm not sure it was from here but the last thing I ate was their Chili Chicken Ramen. I still haven't been able to eat that dish, I have however ventured back to Wagamama and rekindled my love for their food. The menu is so varied; you can have dry dishes or their famous noodle soup dishes. Most meals can be altered to fit your needs and the staff are so catering. I always opt for the Gyozas to start with, the Chicken Katsu Curry for main with some plum wine on the side, delish! I have actually tried authentic Chicken Katsu Curry cooked by some Japanese friends of mine and I must say Wagamama's take on it is perfection and very authentic. For a two-course meal, Wagamama come in at around £10 a head, which is very reasonable, all the ingredients are freshly cooked and it's worth it for the Japanese dining experience. I was telling my grandma and grandad about Wagamama tonight. Telling them that they should go. They'd loved it. I told them the waiters came and took your order, then wrote on the tablecloth so fellow waiters knew what you were having. My grandma nearly had a heart attack at the thought of a waiter writing on her tablecloth. She still didn't like the idea when I told them it was just paper. Wagamama is a completely different eating experience to anything I've personally enjoyed before. Everything comes when it's ready - rather than together, so it's best to order a few dishes to pick at while your main is prepared. I'm a chicken katsu curry man, through and throught. But then, I'm not that adventurous. At least when it comes to Japanese. And I'm rubbish with chopsticks. I love that the waiters come and draw on your tablecloth. Continuing the quest of finding a) tasty food for a young 'un, and b) it being Gluten Free... ...Wagamama scores well. Although they don't (yet) offer gluten free noodles, Wagamama's scores well on being able to cater for the gluten community. Each branch has a very exhaustive folder with all ingredients listed, and how they can be combined that was enormously helpful in getting something delicious down the neck of my GF six year old. She selected a portion of Chilli Squid and then Negima Yakitor combined with Cha Han and wolfed enough for an adult. Bonus points go to the Gluten Free Kikkiman Soy which they cooked with and had on the table. I thoroughly recommend checking their website which has a very good Dietary Requirements section that shows GF options across their menu. If you have an adventurous young chil then this place is a must for you! read more

It's not phenomenal Japanese food, but it's a great chain and the location on Park Row has the best service I've ever had at any Wagamama (both in the US and the UK). The freshly blended juices are great, and the food is eight on par with the rest of the chain. It's a good place for groups or a night of casual eating out. Mehhh. I went here out of no choice of my own- the delegation I was with all went. I have never been to Wagamama's before so I had no idea what anything was. I had firecracker chicken, and I wasn't impressed. As chicken dishes go, it was tasty, if a bit hot. But there was barely any actual chicken with it. It was so busy and loud too, and the staff were visibly flustered. It took them a while to take our order. In some cases, the food came before the drinks. Wagamama. I wonder what that means? In my language it means my girlfriend's chosen the dinner venue. With it's clean interiors and bench-style seating, step into Wagamama and you could be anywhere in the world. The only thing that makes you realise you're in Leeds is that it's raining outside. Which it's been doing for ages. All year in fact. Also, in a chain-restaurant type way, the food always tastes the same. Which is ok apart from it really never feels freshly cooked and sourced. Because it isn't, I guess. However, it tastes good, and is inexpensive and quick, and they do that charming scrawl on your place-setting, so I suppose it has some redeeming features. If you really need some tips, maybe go for the katsu curry or wagamama ramen. read more

I always feel a bit sorry for Wagamama - as it's just round the corner from Tampopo, every time I've been, all I've thought is 'I'm not in Tampopo' They were accomodating when I asked about taking my husband in his wheelchair, and they even remove part of the bench, which they don't do in other similar restaurants I've been in. Wagamama has got to be my favorite restaurant. No matter where you go its always great and leeds is no exception. The staff are friendly and very efficient and the service is very quick but the food is always spot on. I can never decide what to have as everything is so good. I love the noodle dishes like the yaki soba and the curry dishes such as the Katsu Curry. Its not just the mains that are great, the starters and puddings are also fantastic. I love it, it reminds me of my old school canteen. That is meant in a good way. You sit at long bench tables and the menu that is infront of you then turns into an order sheet that then turns in to your bill. The food is great, and you can pick up 50% off vouchers at certain times of the year. They also accept Hi Life cards which gives you more discounts when the offer is not on. My fave items on the menu are the big noodle bowls and the Katsu Curry. TYhe menu's are very friendly and tell you what each dish is and what sort of temperature you can expect. Wagamama is very well known amongst my friends for being absolutely delicious, so when my mum offered to take me and my boyfriend out for dinner, I was a very happy girl. Although it was a busy Friday night we were quickly shown to our seats by a very smiley host. Seating in Wagamama is in traditional 'noodle bar style' where customers sit along side one another in rows of benches. This, along with the slightly garish lighting can be somewhat off putting, especially if you were looking for privacy. We were sat next to a small group who eyed us up nosily and there was a slight air of awkwardness as we settled into our seats. This, however, didn't cross my mind again once conversation began flowing and we were served a big plate of mouth-watering, steaming stir-fry. I am a huge fan of thai style cooking and was very impressed with the 'ebi raisukaree', a stir-fry of prawns, mange-tout, chilli, lime, peppers, coriander, and coconut milk served with sticky rice. Pure heaven! If you are planning on a first date or a meeting which requires privacy this would probably be a bad choice. It is easy to be distracted by the hustle and bustle of busy, hungry people. But, if like me you love oriental cuisine and don't mind the busy atmosphere, it is perfect for a value for money, slap up dinner. Plus you can always move onto one of the pubs or bars in the area for a post-munch drink and a proper chat after eating. read more

The service was so bad. Sat down. Wasn't helped for about 15 mins. Only then was brought water. Then didn't see our waitress again for about 20 mins. Then the people next to us (who arrived 20 mins after us) were served their meals first. My bf and I ordered RAMEN! Premade broth with some chicken in it. Nothing special and certainly no reason for such a long wait. But oh, there's more.. started eating, and found a giant black hair in the soup. After I decide to pull the manager aside (getting nowhere with him) we decided to leave. Right near the train station and town centre, on a popular street with lots of other bars and restaurants. It's a chain, but it's good standard food. Loads to pick from, all the vegetarian stuff is really tasty, you don't miss the meat. Nice smoothies and amazing white chocolate and ginger new york cheesecake. I've been a few times and will definitely go again. Fairly priced. Only open until 10pm on Sunday, so they were a bit keen for us to leave, which was mildly annoying, but kind of fair enough although it was a bank holiday monday the next day. read more

This may seem a little overpriced, but is actually well worth it. There's generally a voucher for a 2-for-1 online, so really the bill is much lower than it first looks. The food is lovely, and the atmosphere is great. I would recommend the soups as they are massive and brimming with great tasting food, and they're good for you too! I wouldn't suggest getting a dessert there though, as the portion sizes aren't as generous as the main meals. read more

Wagamama sells freshly cooked and really tasty noodle and rice dishes and the prices are reasonable too. Also on offer are freshly squeezed juices that are fab and Japanese lagers that aren't available in main other places. I really like this restaurant and I have never been disappointed with any dishes I've chosen. The staff are friendly and efficient and are quick to get your food out as soon as it is ready. Came to test as a replacement for Tampopo. Overall impressed. They have no concept of starters so 'sides' come with the main although not really a problem . Green curry was tasty, fresh and plentiful. Beef strip salad was massive with plenty of veg and enough tasty beef. Gyoza not up to Tampopo standard and all mains came with a couple of minutes gap from first to last but otherwise pleasant, sensibly priced and tasty read more

So...during the 4 days I stayed in Leeds, my friend wanted to take me out to eat and she really like Wagamama. So I had to check it out and I'll tell you, it was worth it. The restaurants in Leeds are nothing like those in Cupertino. I love the lay out of the place and the seating arrangement is pretty cool as well. We came here for lunch at around 2 and while my friend ordered her favorite chicken-katsu curry rice dish, I decided to try something more interesting - I think I had the rice plate with mushrooms and chicken (?) agh..I cant remember the name but it was delicious. It was exactly what I wanted - nothing too heavy like curry and although the size is a little bit bigger than what I'd like my lunch to be, I managed to down it all. The only downside to this restaurant is the slow service. We had to wait for quite some time just to get water and when we asked for another glass, we had to ask twice cause the waiter forgot it the first time. All in all, I would come back and I think someone in the States should open a Wagamama franchise =D read more

Wagamama in Leeds is located on Park Row and is deceptively large! It is typically Wagamama, with stark white walls, wooden benches and friendly staff. I wouldn't take my parents here, but I went here recently with my fiance and 15 year old nephew and he loved it to bits. I have to say the prices are quite reasonable and I really, really enjoyed the food, though I went for a rice dish rather than a noodle one. The desserts and drinks too are very nice. A 3 course meal for 3 with drinks came to £50 which is very fair. The staff are indeed very nice and the atmosphere is so chilled out it makes conversation easy. I do think the mains are priced right however i always feel the side orders are heavily priced - 6 prawns in batter with a chilli sauce £6.10! But they are lovely so i pay it!
