The other evening I made a spicy curry. I mean, it was a really spicy curry. And we had no milk in the house. And I was too lazy to go to the shop. So I hopped on Deliveroo to see if I could get a milkshake delivered. A new name popped up: Wafflemeister. I quickly ordered two milkshakes: dinner was saved! And the milkshakes were delicious.
Obviously, if that was the whole story, this would be a boring blog post. However, last week, just after our dinner at Lucky Beach, Katy and I decided to walk home via West Street and pick up another amazing shake. It was just a full-on evening of Treat Yourself. I really liked the whole vibe in Wafflemeister, so I took a few snapshots.
So far my milkshake of choice has been the Shake au Chocolat made with chocolate ice cream. It's very rich and sweet and chocolatey. Which is my one true love.
Katy prefers strawberry milkshakes, so she had the Strawberry Heaven shake. It's vanilla ice cream blended with real, fresh strawberries, topped in whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. She said she preferred the one we had delivered earlier in the week, although probably only because the chocolate and ice cream had time to settle and blend a bit.
Obviously, waffles are a no go for a coeliac (they don't do a gluten free version), but Katy tried a sample and thought it tasted nice. And I did spot a gluten free brownie! So at a pinch, us gluten free folk could have a huge milkshake and a brownie. Or some gelato. All is not lost! read more
