FOOD HYGENE 2 (just found out)…read more Do yourself a favour and stay away from this place. So many amazing places for cheese fondue in London and this is not one of Them TOMATO CHEESE FONDUE? Please read the menu carefully. Additionally was tasteless The only thing we could taste was the tomato Only 2 wines by the glass and the Swiss house wine is disgusting and tasted like it's been diluted with water Manager was least accommodating. Literally arguing and debating with us, yet no apologising, don't think they ever heard of the saying: "customer is always right". And don't argue with the customer due to their confusing menu double melted tomato with cheese we wanted To change the dish. The waitress immediately proceeded to say " but you have to pay for this". Food presentation was below average ( literally canteen plates) All in all very disappointing place. Go spend your money somewhere else as they don't deserve your money

On a Wednesday evening around 8, our party of four was seated timely as the last party without a booking in this small but comfortable space. We reviewed the menu and ordered appetizers, entree fondue, and desserts - this turned out to be a blessing and a curse, if only because the portions were both almost unbearably large AND unbelievably mouthwatering. We were drawn toward finishing our food like moths to flame, and our bellies sighed with relief as the meal ended - even though our palates could have kept going for days. Service was prompt, professional, enthusiastic, and convivial. This was a special experience, and one I won't soon forget. Highest recommendation.

The staff are super friendly and helpful. The setting is very romantic, tables are mostly lit by candlelights. Decor is simple with French chandeliers, and Wall Arts. We tried the late and goat cheese salad for starters, both were excellent and perfect for three people to share. Highly recommend the pate... we had the cheese fondue for the table for dinner and it was the best fondue I have ever had. They use three cheeses in their fondue and white wine. It was a perfect mixture. For dessert we spilt the profiteroles and you can't go wrong. An evening of wine, cheese and chocolate is heaven on earth.

They sell wines and the restaurant is located underground. We were seated in a nice airy and light area in the resturant and were greeted by a young "intern trainee" waitperson. She was great at announcing the specials however her execution fell short. We ordered a bottle of wine and my husband actually pointed to our choice. She brought the wine and opened it and it was not what we had ordered - it about $30 US more than the one that we ordered. They corrected the mistake but the other waitress said "now we have an opened bottle of wine that we have to do something with". They should not have a trainee or someone very green to take the wine order. About the food - it was amazingly delicious! We ordered the fois gras and the Lyonnaise salad which were both magnificent. The 4 stars are for the food and ambiance. When I ordered, I asked our server about the salad - what was the lettuce that comes with the dish. She replied "iceberg". I said I cannot eat iceberg is there another lettuce? She pointed to the lettuce at another table and it was NOT iceberg - it was butter lettuce. They do not train their staff well - the food nonetheless is very good. She obviously did not know about food. I highly recommend this restaurant bu be careful if you get a non trained server.

It is a farmer's type market with some prepared foods, which were top notch. We walked the entire thing and grabbed as much as we could to eat. There are plenty of food places just outside the space that are open later as well. I got some meat sticks from a vendor, sort of farmers market style. There was also another stand that had fruit in a cup with chocolate. Our best deal were some arepas that were half off because it was closing time and they wanted to get rid of them. This isn't the place to take pictures, but rather to immerse yourself in all the goodness that is here.

Perfect! The service, just as smooth as their chocolate. I walked in, the man instantly addressed me with "Good Evening sir, how are you today?" I replied in kind with a "I like the enthusiasm, trying to make me buy something huh" which we both laughed at. I did proceed to buy a few things, but damn this place was so cool, I will for sure be revisiting. If you look at the pictures I am about to post up, you will see why! The only reason I 4 starred is because it was late and there was no atmosphere, which I would like to see what that is like in there. Not bad consdering this place jas only been open for 5 days!

The 'cheese maturing cellar' stocks every cheese you could possibly imagine and stores them at various levels of smelliness depending on your own personal tastes. It is truly a homage to fromage! For the sweet tooth's out there La Fromagerie also has a sizeable selection of cakes and pastries. By the shop window there are a couple of tables which are perfect for sitting down with a cup of tea and choosing one of these delicious treats to nibble on. Or if you're feeling extra extravagant then try one of their Valrhona hot chocolates- though beware, these are only for true chocoholics and pack a a fairly bitter punch. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a really high quality deli. The food isn't cheap but the quality is fantastic.

What I love about this shop is that the staff is helpful and friendly and offers lots of suggestions when you are buying cheese, Caroline really knows her stuff. When I say that La Fromagerie is more than a cheese shop it means they sell other things. You can pick up a dessert or order a cappuccino. They even have a few tables to sit and enjoy a drink and if you love the smell of cheese you will certainly enjoy that. The shop isn't very big and it doesn't take many people before it starts to feel crowded. Despite that, it's a warm environment and I don't mind wiggling around a few folks as I happily exit the shop with my purchases.

I found out about The Cheese Plate when we had dinner at Frederick's in Islington. We ordered a…read morecheese plate for dessert, and the cheese was fantastic. So we asked them where they got their cheese, and they told us about The Cheese Plate. We live in Enfield, so we're fairly close-ish to Buntingford. Not really close, but it's about a half an hour drive. Given it can take us as long to get into London by train and tube, it's not that ridiculous for us to drive that far for cheese. Really. And who knew there'd be such an amazing cheese shop in a such a small town in the UK. You walk in and you can smell the cheese. That's how awesome it is. Plus it wasn't incredibly busy when we were there, so we got some excellent service. The woman waiting on us gave us some excellent cheeses to try. We ended up with a brie, a calvados soaked camembert, a wine soaked blue and some great cheddar. We also picked up some biscuits (which turned out to be some of the best ones I've had in the UK). We even dropped the name of Frederick's where we tried the cheese. The owner was ecstatic. Apparently some people from the restaurant had been in on Wednesday and asked if anyone had come in after having cheese in the restaurant. Apparently the answer was no. Until today. Awesome. It's not conveniently close. But it's not too far for us. It's a great shop with some great cheeses. I think they even had some jars of chutney as well. And some wine. You can also go in for some cheese or raclette to eat in. The website says that they do cheese tasting nights as well that we may have to try out some time.

Having recently moved from Northamptonshire to Hertfordshire, I needed to find a new "fromagery"…read moreand used the same tool most of us use these days - the internet (thanks again to Sir Tim Berners-Lee). Although The Cheese Plate is over 20 miles from my new home I thought that I should at least try it for our Christmas cheese plate, particularly as it was the closest specialist cheese retailer listed. Am I glad that I made the effort! Opening the shop door, the heady smells of a variety of cheeses didn't assail but welcomed you to browse - and what a selection to browse. I went with some part-formed ideas of what I wanted and came away with a selection that was both related to my first ideas but also quite different from them. A wide selection of biscuits, pickles and desert wines extends the shopping experience (this from a die-hard anti-shopper too). Over the 20 minutes or so I was in the shop, it was a joy to watch regular customers stocking up and owner Toby helping a man on his task of creating a perfect fondue amongst others. My personal "cheese angel" Tara seemed to almost know just the types and flavours that I was after and it was all done with a delightful smile. I am sure this year's family cheeseboard will be recognised as "better than last year". If Buntingford is too far away, don't despair - you can also order over the phone although I have no idea of that side of their business. In these days of doom for small retailers, I truly hope this shop survives - it deserves too! Have a look for yourself - it is worth it.

Absolutely delicious!…read more The food here is excellent, and the menu has a lot of options to choose from. We came early in the morning, and there were only a couple of other diners eating when we walked in. We were promptly seated and our drink order was taken. There was only one server, and he didn't come back with my coffee, or take our food order for ages. I admit, I was very frustrated with the long wait, and mumbled under my breath about how long it took to make a coffee. Unbeknownst to me, the server was right behind me and heard my remark... needless to say, service was prompt and efficient after that! I ordered the Plant Plate and was absolutely blown away at the huge portions, also how delicious everything was.
