As someone who spent many summers working in an ice cream shop, I like to think I know my stuff when it comes to ice cream and so, I can tell you without hesitation that this ice cream is absolutely delicious!! The shop itself is adorable and cool at the same time. It's very slick and well put together, but not in an off-putting way. The staff greeted me with a smile and were quick to serve me. I for one know the pains of scooping ice cream all day long, but they didn't let on for a second ;) The ice cream just looks incredible in here. It's soft and whippy and colourful - the sorbets especially looking rather delightful. I opted for one scoop of salted caramel and one scoop of cookie, unaware of the massive scoop sizes in here! There was certainly plenty to get through and, though I was initially a little bit sad they didn't have any mint choc chip available, as soon as I took a scoop I forgot all my sadness. Literally all of it. My head just filled up with happy thoughts of summer, sun and good ice cream. The flavours were lovely! Not too sickly, not too sweet - just perfect. The little tub it came in was so pretty as well which, I realise, makes no difference to the ice cream, but it sure did look lovely as I walked around. One man even stopped me in the street to comment how hungry I was making him, holding up an orange in dismay and exclaiming 'this is all I've got for desert.' Must be some pretty fine looking ice-cream to stop people in their tracks, right? If you haven't tasted this yet, then get in there. The sun's out, it's summertime - there's absolutely nothing stopping you. Came here after a lovely day wandering around Brighton and lounging by the beach. Gelato Gusto is just what I needed. There were so many flavors and the staff is super friendly. They will take the time to help you even though there is always a line. After great indecision (not an exaggeration...I didn't know what some of the flavors were and obviously had to try them), I had a small Lychee & Rose and Banana and Macadamia Nut. So refreshing. The Lychee was nice and light, and the Banana was sweet and the nuts were a lovely addition. There is a good amount of seating considering how small the shop is and a restroom upstairs. Some of the tastiest ice cream I had in a long time. Really cute shop which a great little inside seating area with a blow up signed picture of Paloma Faith eating a massive sundae. So many yummy flavours to choose from broken up between sorbet and gelato. Was thankful that you can try a couple of flavours. Large menu from ice cream cups and cones, sundaes, brownies and even an icecream burger. I highly recommend the Elderflower sorbet. The only icecream shop I'll visit when in Brighton. read more

I'd been wanting to try Gelato Gusto for ages, but finally had the opportunity this weekend at the Brighton & Hove food festival. Holy cats, I'm glad I did! I am a gelato fiend, I tell you, so I went for a double scoop: Ecuadorian dark chocolate, and peanut butter with a salted caramel swirl. The peanut butter ice cream was sweet, but not cloying, a and had a lightly roasted peanutty flavour. The salty caramel drizzled on top cut the sweetness just enough. The dark chocolate was very, very dark, and rich. It wasn't bitter, but it wasn't too sweet either. It complemented the peanut butter ice cream perfectly. Both scoops were super creamy and smooth and even the cone was good! I also tried the lychee and rose sorbetto, which was absolutely delicious. It was the creamiest sorbetto I've ever tried, without the slightly granular or overly sugary texture and taste that you cone across occasionally. The rose and lychee were subtle and fragrant, and delicately floral. Remind me to bring a mini bottle of champagne for a cheeky combo with this next time! I am dying to go back and try more flavours, like parmesan and pear, but I'm sitting pretty fat and happy with my choices today. read more

Perfectly located in Brighton for a schedule that looks something like: shopping shopping gelato shopping. Gelato Gusto is an adorable little shop. It's bright, it's clean, there's a "side room" for seating, and the staff is great. Ask and ye shall receive...samples. The options here are grand. Interesting combos like rose and lychee sorbetto, cherry bakewell gelato and "wafer" (kinda vague, definitely delicious). Being summer I thought I'd go for something light...er: peach melba (sweet peach, slightly tangy raspberry) and a version of something that really just boiled down to: cherry ripple. Both fruity and rich and yet, surprisingly, not overly heavy. If you want heavier, though: highly recommended are the peanut butter and salted caramel (WHATTA COMBO; only wish the peanut were more pronounced) and the dark dark chocolate which is scraped into a cup looking like tar (but, I assure you, tasting much better). 1 flavour, 2 or 3...cup or cone. I think one of the most enjoyable things about Gelato Gusto is the cones...they are, possibly, the most perfect of cones I have ever had the pleasure of mowing down on. As someone described in a review below: a mix of a waffle cone and a cake cone, these are snappy and crisp and hold in the gelato (pet peeve: cones with leaks!) and yet are still soft and not overly brittle. I lack the descriptors, so you'll just have to hasten here and try it yourself. Unless you're one of the sophisticates who bypasses cones altogether and gets an affogado: you could do worse than gelato with an espresso poured atop as an afternoon pick-me up. Really reasonable prices, good sizes, conclusion: real deal. See / sea (Brighton seaside humour, y'all) for yourself. I got a double in a waffle cone, but was really struggling to finish the massive thing. Had the strawberry cheesecake, and it was super divine. Well then, for starters, I'm not even sure how many times I've actually been here. I really love the selection of real Italian Gelato and Sorbetto that they have here. I usually grab a small tub of a random flavour that I haven't tried before. Last time I had a scoop of the Malted Milk and Marmelade, and my friend got the Hazelnut crunch. It turns out that if you offer something unusual enough, I will wander into your eating establishment and order it just to figure out what the hell is going on. Thus so with Gelato Gusto's advertised "Gelato Burger." Every time I walked past, I would rack my brain trying to concieve of what exactly this confection would be like, until I finally broke down and just gave it a try. Naturally, I first had to do a little taste test tour of all the unusual flavors, including the amazing Sea Buckthorne Cheesecake. It had so many different flavor elements perfectly combining -- sour, crunchy, sweet, creamy -- but because I was just going to put it all in a myserious "burger" I opted for a more straightforward Honey Crunch type scoop of deliciousness. It turns out that they somehow press a brioche bun around your choice of ice cream (and literally seal it inside -- not just a bun on top and a bun on the bottom) while still keeping the ice cream very cold, not melty at all! Unfortunately, it turns out that I don't exactly love brioche. The ice cream, though, the ice cream is grand. The best in Brighton that I've tried thusfar. And for that, I will be back. read more

This gelato store is positioned on the most adorable little street in the heart of Brighton. When we arrived the line was out the door and down the street. Originally we thought we'd try somewhere else but given the line we figured this gelato must be AMAZING and far superior. It was good gelato for sure, nice flavours and plenty of options but it was just pretty ordinary. Just like your run of the mill yummy gelato really. In saying that it was yummy and full of flavour. Very sweet too. I had Lemon Meringue and Sea Salt Caramel. They were both yum and I definitely go back, I'd just know the line is because it's a hot day and everyone feels like ice cream rather than the gelato being exceptional. read more

One of the best gelato I've had in a long time! Stumbled upon this gem when my boyfriend and I went to Brighton for a day. Tasted several flavors. They had very unique ones like cherry cola and Parmesan & pear. I got my usual pistachio because it's my all time favorite. The best part was the cone. I think most waffle cones are hard but this come was a good cross between waffle and cake cone. The crunch was perfect and had a good flavor. Not like cardboard at some places.
