I love that this place is open later than most ice cream/gelato places. The first time I came here was after a friend's birthday dinner, and it was around 7:30pm. Coming from the States, I'm used to places being open till late, like around 9 or 10pm, so I was glad that I was able to still get some dessert!
The gelati itself is pretty amazing. It's so creamy and rich, which is why I'd choose gelato over regular ice cream any day. I used to work at a gelato shop back in high school and would always sneak samples and not be able to stop because it was just so good. I love the variety in flavors that Gelateria de Luca has. The first time I came here I tried the Hazlenut because Hazlenut is my absolute favorite flavor of gelato. The second time I came I had the Nutella gelato, and that was amazingly good as well (some places can really butcher the Nutella flavor). I had some samples of the fruity flavors, and they actually taste like the actual fruit and are super rich in texture, which surprised me because fruity gelati usually tends to taste fake or unusual, and the texture is usually too thin.
The prices for the gelato are pretty good, too (£2 for one scoop, £3 for two, etc). The first time I came here, I ordered one scoop of the gelato in a cone, and the employee working gave me a huge scoop! I was delighted; I love it whenever I get more of something than I expect. The employees are super friendly; the place is owned by Italians and the employees are all Italian, so they're really cheery and nice! I think I'm going to need more self-control in not coming here so much! read more
