Bev and I wanted something sweet late at night. We both thought of waffles. We parked in front of the restaurant. We felt safe even at that late hour. We were greeted warmly and found a place to sit. Nigel re l came over to us and asked us what we would like to drink. We responded and he returned quickly. He introduced us to Mia and let us know she would be helping us. I had two pecan waffles (one for home) and a bacon egg sandwich. Bev was hungry for sausage egg biscuits. The food was prepared perfectly by Thomas. Everything looked delicious. Mia,Thomas and Nigel communicated well together and the teamwork was Spot on. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. There were a few other customers there and everyone was served promptly. The team worked together like a choreographed dance. Smoothly and with smiles. Nigel and I joked around a bit when I tasted the coffee and loved it... I told him I was about to have a serious relationship with that coffee pot! We both laughed. Nigel and Mia checked on us frequently to make sure we enjoyed our meal. And we most certainly did. When we travel, my husband & I always go to WH. Why? Well, it's the only restaurant I know that serves good food at reasonable prices by people who are willing to treat you well no matter your skin color or gender identity, etc! I can get a filling meal for $8 & include a tip because service was excellent!! I've never been in a WH where they were jerks! Always nice! Almost always clean. I love the characters working together there, but I also love the food. read more

This place has change drastically since they hired new people. It is SO much cleaner in there but it seems like every time we go in there, that's all they're focused on. There was 6 people there and it had been maybe 15 minutes before we were even asked what we wanted to drink. I get it, people want to eat where it's clean, and I will give them that. Horrible service, waitress was really rude and had a nasty attitude when we walked in and rolled her eyes. We tried to ask for her name but manager didn't tell us. i think he was being racist since we were a "group of hispanics" with one white friend who was treated nicely. Waitress got our orders wrong multiple times. She tossed the utensils onto the table and told us to organize the stuff on our own.. Manager was big, he looked obese, he was white with blue eyes. We asked multiple times for assistance since they forgot some of our orders and they completely ignored until my white friend asked. They gave my friend a sandwich when she ordered a burger and then he took it back and scraped the food off of it and put it into burger buns. This is our first bad experience at waffle house. A South Carolina vacation isn't official until we have breakfast at a Waffle House. Today, we made it an official vacation. We had a terrific experience . The minute we set foot inside, we were greeted by two employees. The coffee was hot, fresh, and great tasting. The pecan waffles were a work of art, and the side of ham was plent big enough to share. We loved our server, a great personality and a big smile. We were in awe of the short order cook, who skillfully churned out dozens of orders every minute. Prices are cheap, the service is great, and the meal was delicious. Yay, we are big fans. read more

I sat down and picked up a menu in a booth. A swarm of small black bugs were on the menu and crawled across the table. I told the waitress about the bugs and moved to a different booth. There were food crumbs on the table too. No one cleaned that table while I was there. I won't go back. read more

Good Food served quickly, that is the WH ideal. I have eaten at a lot of Waffle House restaurants all over the Southeast and this one ranks as one of the better experiences. This is where The Waffle House trains their employees to work at other Waffle Houses. Poor service and greasy food.

Maybe we hit this Waffle House on a bad day, a really bad day. Hubby and I eat at Waffle House all the time, wherever we travel. We don't expect gourmet food, just consistently decent food and good service. The first thing we noticed at the Pawleys Island Waffle House was that all booths were occupied except for two that were still in need of bussing. Usually when you enter a Waffle House, several employees say hello. I think it's part of their training. No one greeted us at this Waffle House. Since no one else was waiting for a table, we stood by the nearest dirty table and waited for it to be cleaned. And waited, and waited. Should have taken the hint and left then. Finally someone behind the counter noticed us, grabbed a wet towel and started cleaning the table. Cleaning included dumping some of the food on the table onto the floor behind the counter. We sat down and almost immediately noticed a sour smell. Guessing that it came from the towel used to clean the table, we made sure our silverware never touched the table. The same waitress who cleaned the table slowly wandered over to take our order. We ordered two black coffees, which came quickly but with no spoons to stir sugar into it. When we asked for spoons, the waitress acted surprised that we didn't have any. I ordered a single egg scrambled well with wheat toast and hash browns scattered, covered and smothered. I received a lukewarm egg, the correct hash browns, and white toast. My husband ordered two eggs over medium, regular hash browns, white toast, and sausage patties. His meal came minus the sausage. He had to remind the waitress that he ordered sausage. And while we were waiting for our food, which took a long time to come, at least one other couple gave up waiting for a clean table and just left. Needless to say, we won't be returning to this Waffle House. read more

I stopped in to order hash browns with cheese. Super simple. Got 100 chopped up white onions with it. I took one bite (yep, allergies to onions ) Tongue is swollen . Called back to ask order if got switched.(to be polite). I was the only person sitting at the counter ordering to go hash browns. I was offered to come back in the morning to talk to a manager or to come back immediately to get new $3 hashbrowns. Umm no thanks. Good thing I didn't take 2 bites of my onion filled hash browns. I am now on my 3rd glass of water . Will drink 2 more before I go to bed. read more

I was appalled at customers being able to smoke in an enclosed public building that serves food. This is the 21st century! It is rude, makes your food taste like crap and on top of this I have COPD so breathing is already difficult. When I complained they said it was a smoking restaurant and behaved as if I was the inconsiderate asshole. Never going back to this pit. read more

Extremely filthy restaurant. There was food all over the floor and counters in the open kitchen area as well as the dining area. The glass front cooler had greasy finger prints and smears all over it. It was very apparent that they had run out of glass cleaner....or maybe just didn't care that it was dirty. There were two elderly ladies there and one of them passed out and began to vomit on herself. Not a single one of the servers asked if they could help or call 911. Instead, they ignored the situation all together!! I was appalled! There was another guest there eating with her young daughter. She noticed the incident immediately and called 911. The line cook noticed there was commotion going on and ran to the two elderly ladies to help. She was so busy taking care of everyone else that it was impossible for her to have noticed sooner. The serving staff was absolutely disgraceful! Not to mention that the serving staff is in no rush to get to new customers coming in the door and sitting down to dirty tables. The only reason I give 2 stars and not 1 is because the line cook was good and her food was excellent! The servers were lazy and didn't care about anything going on around them! read more

Went here looking forward to breakfast before we left town. Watched the waitress "clean" the table by scooting all the residual good right on to the floor. Sat down only to discover that they still allow smoking here and the smell was overwhelming as a customer to our left decided to partake. We expressed our surprise that this was still allowed and our waitress asked if we "have a problem with that" and rudely stated that we could move to another part of the very crowded restaurant because it is legal. We left without eating so I cannot review the food. The smell and the service were abhorrent. I write this review an hour later and I still smell like smoke :( read more
