Located right in downtown Prattville, it's a true gem. The portions are generous. I found that an entrée with two sides was more than enough for a satisfying meal. The staff was friendly and patient while I made my way down the line trying to decide what to get. That kind of service makes a difference, especially when there are so many good choices staring back at you. I also really like the atmosphere. The dining area has some cool decor and plenty of character, and there's patio seating along with a rear dining area if you want a different setting. Friday nights are my favorite time to go because that's when they serve the catfish. It's become my go-to night for a meal there, and definitely something I'd recommend trying if you haven't already. Overall, Uncle Mick's is exactly what I look for in a local restaurant: good portions, friendly people, a relaxed atmosphere, and food that keeps you coming back. I found the cleanest appt at the bar (just some crumbs...nothing sticky) and gave it a shot. I hadn't been to WH in years, as they aren't available where I live. I remember my time in high school and college with fond memories of WH. Thankfully, the food is the same. Chicken sandwich, waffle, and hashbrowns scattered covered and smothered. Tasty! They forgot the extras on the hashbrowns. Bacon on the chicken sandwich was very poor quality, so I set it aside. What I ate was good. Waffle House has that greasy spoon diner ambiance and vibe both inside and from the outside. My service here was a positive one and my server only enhanced my overall experience. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try.
