Waffle House's are a dime a dozen off the highway. So using your handy Yelp app can save you the aggravation of one that is not performing up to par. I did use my app to locate this WH and several others came up within a 15 mile radius. This was the best, but I kept in mind only two reviews. Just off of I95 it's an easy off and on and less than a half mile from the ramp. Several hotels are across the street and I think that I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express directly across the street at one time. The parking lot was clean, the sidewalks were clean and the windows and seals of the building were clean. This is pretty amazing considering road dust right off the highway... this was a great start. Due to it being late morning I did not expect it to be too busy. However, I was surprised that they were full. However, my son and I scored a few seats at the bar while others waited for a booth. My first observation was this was the cleanest WH back area I have ever seen and I promptly took a pic. Keep in mind this was late morning, I was pretty stunned. Anyone that has seen my reviews of WH know what was ordered. GRAND SLAM all the way baby! The waitress was very nice and got drinks out immediately. I quickly noticed something was going on here that struck me as odd for a roadside stop. There were a lot of locals and regulars that you usually do not see on a highway stop. The staff was chatting up several customers and I had to think this was a good sign. It only took around 8-10 minutes for our food to begin to be plated. It came out in a few waves which I never mind at WH and actually prefer with a Grand Slam. Everything looked good, it tasted good and I was pleased. A customer beside me struck up a conversation with me and confirmed my suspicion that this is a locals restaurant. She has been coming here for years and enjoys it. Time to get back on the road and the bill was already at the table. A quick stop at the restrooms and another WH shocker. They were not only clean, but spacious too. Everything worked and soap was available. As we stepped up to pay the bill a phone call came across for another employee. I then learned when trying to pay by credit card that they only have one line... pretty funny I thought. The employee told who ever it was to call back, so all good to keep us moving. I would say this is one of best overall WH experiences I've had. I let the manager know before departing too.

We have stopped here several times going and coming from Durham. The service has always been good, the food very good, the place is clean, the price is great. I usually get a pecan, blueberry waffle, my husband gets the city ham, a waffle and hash browns.

My over easy eggs were raw and the toast was called. I wouldn't go back even if it was free.

My husband is a wing connoisseur, and he ordered the 10-piece naked wings in buffalo sauce, and I decided to try the frogs leg. Both were excellent appetizers, and we ordered the Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries, and a shrimp quesadilla. Hubby loved his cheesesteak, and I can honestly say that the shrimp quesadilla was the best one I've ever had. We noticed lots of families eating and the waiter we had was terrific. We would definitely stop again if in the area. Only thing missing is Yuengling beer on tap - only got one in a bottle.

I checked Yelp to…read moresee what was coming up in the area, and Arnold's popped up, so we decided to give it a try. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was packed, which we took as a good sign. Inside, the restaurant was very busy. The hostess seated us and mentioned they were offering a pizza bar for lunch that day. She took our drink order and then came back to take our food order. My wife ordered the steak and cheese with curly fries, and I had the cowboy burger with onion rings. My wife said the steak and cheese was good, though the curly fries lacked seasoning. My burger was a little different than expected -- it comes on grilled Texas toast -- but it was still good, just a bit heavy on the bread. The onion rings, however, were very good. We asked our waitress about the pizza, and she explained that there used to be a pizza place across the street that was always busy. The owner of Arnold's also owned that pizza place, and after it closed and became a gas station, they decided to bring the pizza to Arnold's. She said they just started serving pizza a few weeks ago and have been very busy since adding it. One odd thing worth mentioning was the restroom. It was freezing cold, almost uncomfortable, and when you go to wash your hands there's a sign warning about extremely hot water, but no hot water came out at all. My wife said the women's restroom was the same way. On our way out, we walked past the pizza bar. The pizza looked excellent -- very thin crust, just the way we like it -- and they also had spaghetti available. When we're back in the area again, we'll definitely stop in to try the pizza.

They have a large parking lot with numbered spots, so you don't forget where you parked. The decor is casual and unassuming. It is a large place, though. It can seat 220 guests and has both booths and tables. I dined here for brunch, but you order from the all-day menu. I read to go early to avoid a wait. Service was friendly, but the goal seemed to be to turn the tables quickly, so many customers left with to-go boxes. Well, I was on the road, so I couldn't go, so they had to wait for me to finish. I ordered the flounder with a baked potato, and it came with hush puppies. The food was really good, and I would have ordered dessert too, but I wasn't asked or even finished with my meal when the bill was dropped off. I liked my food, and the prices were reasonable. I don't like feeling rushed, though and like to enjoy my meal. Payment is taken at the front register. I paid cash because I wasn't sure whether they took credit cards, since that register was closed. By the time I got through the line and got change for the tip, people were already seated at my table. So I had to find my waitress to leave my tip. I might return again when it is less busy.

My family & I travel through here just to get to Hilton Head Island, SC from VA. I like that it's a nice family friendly diner open late and good for traveling through to your next destination... But here's what we had and whether or not you'll like it. Grilled salmon... decent, not super memorable. The flavor was fine and it was cooked well. The hush puppies weren't my fave - they're the kind that look like scraps rather than golf balls. The deviled crab is interesting. I want fond of the flavor or texture - it's closer to deviled crab fritter than anything. The garden salad is mostly iceberg, but it did the trick to get some greens in me for the travels ahead. The fried dishes seem to be the specialty, so I'd recommend a fried platter if you're interested in something quick & tasty.

I ordered the shrimp scampi, and it was okay, but it wasn't especially memorable. Our waitress was friendly and courteous throughout our visit, which I appreciated. She did seem overwhelmed or perhaps a little forgetful, as we didn't receive our silverware initially, our beverages took longer than expected, and it took quite a while before we were able to pay our bill. I also noticed that a drink was accidentally spilled on the floor during service and it remained there when we left, which was disappointing from a safety and cleanliness standpoint. In addition, I noticed the restaurant's sanitation score was 92. While that is a passing grade, I expected a higher score from a national chain restaurant. Overall, the service was polite and I believe our waitress was doing her best under what appeared to be a very busy shift. I hope management provides the support needed to keep up with cleaning and service during peak hours.

I was very happy that they tried to make things right because it shows they care about their customers experience. The food today was definitely better. My fiancé really enjoyed the scallops, however, he feels that was the only good thing on the plate and for $20 not worth it. I liked the tilapia and shrimp (although you only get 3 shrimps on the $18 plate) Our waitress Destiny was OK she definitely could have been friendlier. We gave her the coupon as soon as we walked in but she still charged us full price and upon telling her it wasn't on there she didn't apologize for her mistake just took the receipt and changed it. Also we ordered the "dulce de leche sundae" to go for $11 and she brought a single tiny piece of cheesecake. We told her we ordered the sundae and she said "are you sure you want that? It's gonna melt" we told her to just take it off for us and once again no apology, seemed rude. Another disappointment was the fries and tots. We ordered them both "loaded" but for $4 total all you get is a pinch of cheese and bacon bits on top of what seemed to be greasy microwaved fries and tots so definitely wouldn't recommend it as we couldn't eat more than a bite. The only thing that would be worth going for would be the salad bar which was good for $6. We were satisfied with the decor of the place, however, we most likely won't be coming back.
