Food was good but service was extremely rude! Need to be just a little bit more polite.

A visit to The Myrtles Plantation offers a unique blend of Southern history, architectural beauty,…read moreand just enough mystery to keep things interesting. The guided tour does a strong job of bringing the property's past to life. Set among towering oak trees and Spanish moss, the plantation itself is visually stunning, and the home's preserved interiors give an authentic glimpse into 18th- and 19th-century Louisiana life. Rainy Day our knowledgeable and engaging tour guide, was mixing well-documented history with the plantation's well-known ghost stories in a way that feels balanced rather than over-the-top. That said, expectations matter. If you're hoping for a purely historical deep dive, some of the supernatural elements may feel a bit dramatized. On the flip side, if you're looking for a full-on haunted experience, it's more subtle than theatrical. Overall, The Myrtles Plantation tour is a worthwhile stop for anyone traveling through Louisiana. It offers a memorable mix of culture, history, and atmosphere--especially for those who appreciate a good story along with their sightseeing.

The old antebellum house, a happy home, was quiet and the perfect ambiance. We dined on grilled grouper and shrimp and grits and both meals were just right. We live about 50 miles from Vicksburg but would make that trip any time for such a good meal in a quiet and beautiful atmosphere. If you have not been, you should go and treat yourself.

Joseph Emory Davis, patriarchal brother to Confederate Pres Jefferson Davis, the owner of Hurricane Plantation in Warren County, Jefferson Davis made his final speech from Anchuca's front balcony, near the Vicksburg Battlefield. We got here early and parked in the small parking lot. We wandered around all of the beautiful rooms from the period. We were seated in the library. Brunch entrées included a small salad or fruit cup, and a dessert. We enjoyed our salads with balsamic dressing. For an entrée, I chose seafood, gumbo, and my husband, the shrimp and grits. The cheesy, creamy grits with the best I ever tasted, and my husband doesn't like shrimp, but he devoured them. We're trying both desserts, the warm peach cobbler alamode and the white chocolate bread pudding were obscene. Our meal was delicious, service, impeccable, and the setting spectacular.

He was very confused & had to ask a few times. We ordered the oyster spinach salad. I enjoyed the salad. The batter on the oysters & the fried shrimp my friend ordered was tasty but very salty. My boyfriend ordered the burger. It was good but nothing special. Overall the food was decent, service was slow (we were there for over 2hrs between ordering eating & paying).

His conversation was laced with profanity and we had children with us. Completely unwarranted. We paid for our drinks and left rather than be subjected to his barrage. Neighboring tables experienced the same attitude and another couple walked out with us. Complete shame as we understood that the food was excellent. The two members of our party that were repeaters acknowledged a similar though less traumatic experience with the same waiter on their prior visit, sharing that it was earlier in the day and he wasn't as belligerent but odd and off putting. I hope management corrects the situation before they lose too much business at the hands of this staff.

It is easily in our top 5 favorite restaurants. It would also be within the top 3 or 5 best restaurants we've eaten at. I think it has gotten better since we started visiting, which is saying a lot. The restaurant is now getting recognized by Michelin and was recently added to their Michelin Guide. I will have to see if I can locate additional photos I have taken over the years. We have been at this point, June 2026, about five times. Every time we go the food and service is 10/10. We always start with the Baguette, Bisque and Sensation Salad. If I had to choose one dish to order it would be the Bisque. I could make a meal out of it with the Baguette. It is one of the 10 best bites of food I have ever had. It's the best thing on the menu in my opinion and luckily it's a main stay. As far main dishes go we have had varieties of their steak, pane'd veal, pork chop, pasta and fish. All were amazing. When it comes to desserts we typically get the flourless Chocolate Torte (when available) and the cheesecake.

Not end of the world but didn't want to be separated. THEN we get to the room, and we have ZERO blankets. Just a sheet. And because they have ZERO staff on site from 10pm to 8 am, I was screwed and froze all night! Called the next morning and asked for blankets, told them I had a sheet only. No apology or anything! There are coffee pots in the room but no water to make coffee. So bring your own water. Also, I'm road tripping and this was the worse (hardest) bed yet. Staff were friendly and rooms were clean and of course the mansion is majestic. But my experience here was awful. I froze all night. Terrible experience.

We were attending Angels on the Bluff and needed to change bc we had been traveling all day. We had to haul all of our things into the bathroom by the front desk and try to change in there. My husband had to change in the manager's office upstairs. He found a business card of someone in charge while in there. The guy at the desk was miserable- kept complaining about how there was only one person to clean rooms. We finally were able to check in at 10 pm instead of 4 and room was gross. We had to haul all of our stuff up the steps and room was dirty, no water, and 2 towels. Windows were boarded so couldn't see out. It felt like a box. Guy at the desk could care less- 200% apathetic! Not his problem. My husband called and talked to the person on the business card and that person was supposed to call back! Never did! I should have contested the charges. Now a year later, we ate at The Castle and that is also a disaster! Just avoid the whole place! Drive up, take pics of the home, and drive far far away!

There was some kind of street fair going on, so we parked in the back and walked in from the back door. It was a little confusing, but we four a very sweet server who showed us where to sit. I think her name was Lincoln and she was very sweet. The outdoor area was a little messy, but no big deal. The food was okay. I had a French burger that was a little flat tasting. My husband had the French dip. Again, it was just okay. Cocktails were pretty good. Based on that alone I probably wouldn't go back, but we were limited on choices due to having our dog with us. Here's where it took a turn. We went to our car and there was a very nasty note telling us, "The next time you park here you will be towed." It directed us to go inside to get someone to move their car which was blocking us in. We didn't see any other parking lot and there weren't any no parking signs. I went inside and found our waitress who gave the note to a woman sitting at the bar with papers spread out in front of her. I assume she was the manager or owner. She didn't say a word and sent the waitress to move her car. All of the sudden our sweet server wasn't so sweet. Come to find out, the parking lot entrance was on the side where the street fair was and we couldn't see it. I think that is a pretty nasty way to treat customers. I don't recommend this place at all.
