New London Food Truck Festival - Cupcake and Dessert truck

New London Food Truck Festival

This was the first annual New London Food Truck Festival, a joint event sponsored by the Town of…read moreNew London Recreation Department and the New London Rotary Club. The proceeds from the event will be shared to support youth recreation in New London as well as college and trade scholarships, literacy initiatives, and special charitable assistance by the Rotary Club. This year's event was a mid-scale plan and hosted 11 food trucks ranging from French fries and hamburgers to Burmese food. It was a superb and eclectic variety of food. The weather cooperated as it was an absolutely gorgeous day. However, the size of the crowd exceeded all expectations and over 1,200 people showed up to enjoy a delicious array of food The busiest truck was perhaps a grilled cheese truck that was the favorite with children and there was easily a 45-minute wait to get food. Next to it, a Home made French fries truck was also commanding half hour waits. On the other side, a Jamaican food truck, a Cajun truck, and a seafood truck with amazing lobster rolls were some of the salient ones. Towards the middle, a Burmese food stand and a cupcake dessert truck were available. Two great local establishments also made a hit. Grounds Coffeehouse provided muffins and gluten-free bakery items and fresh-roasted coffee. And Salt Hill Pub's local brew selections were presented in a fenced-in area. It absolutely rocked this year. And next year it's going to be even better.

They have great pricing here. My partner and I shared some incredible fried cheese curds. I highly recommend ordering those, they were incredible. My burger was good too. You order your food and pay up front and then they bring the food to you. There was one server that was extremely short with us, the other one was really sweet. There is a lot of seating available inside. The walls are lined with animal heads, so gives it a rustic hunting feel. I was most excited to try Vermont's signature: a maple creamee. Keep in mind they give you huge servings of this delicious soft serve. My partner and I shared a medium and could barely finish it. It tasted like delicious buttery maple syrup pancakes. If you're looking for affordable, local fast food, the Maple Angus is a good pick.

It started as a food truck and now it's a brick and mortar although they still cater. We have been here 3x in a week the food is excellent!! They have a huge indoor space and picnic tables outside as well. There is a walk up ice cream window. Lots of options, steak/burgers/pizza, all of the regular fried goodies- mushrooms, fries, onion rings etc. The family runs it and they are wonderful people. They run their specials on their facebook page. They have maple creemees & this one is excellent. They also have black raspberry soft serve which I didn't know existed and am now obsessed with, I am not sure if it's a special though ha. Support local and eat this delicious food!!

They serve up breakfast sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, subs, chicken fingers, chili, fries, onion rings, and cold drinks. The prices here seem pretty reasonable. There's also several picnic tables nearby. I stopped by the Route 78 Grill for lunch recently. The place was fairly busy for Friday lunch. I placed my order for a Chili Cheese Dog ($3), Steak & Cheese Sub with topping choices ($7.50) and Large Onion Rings ($4.50). The lady used an old school calculator to total up the order and I was charged $23, which seemed pretty high. However, the lady corrected it and the total was now $15, which seemed more reasonable. My order was prepared to order called in under 10 minutes. The chili cheese dog was lightly grilled topped with a homemade meat & bean chili and orange cheese sauce on a soft hot dog bun. The steak & cheese sub had grilled shaved steak, sauteed peppers, onions, & mushrooms, melted American cheese, mayo on a soft hoagie roll. The breaded onion rings were nice and crunchy on the outside. Overall, the food here was pretty good drive-in style fare, greasy and tasty. They should really also have the napkins and condiments out on the counter next to the pickup window.
