My little nieces and their parents visited for Thanksgiving and we wanted to take the kiddos to a park so they could burn off some energy (and turkey). We had stopped by another park first, but it was more busy than we were all comfortable with since it's during COVID-19, so we decided to check this one to see how busy it was. Fortunately there were minimal people and it worked out since it's a really pretty little park that I wasn't aware of prior! There was a small playground area that had a section for smaller kids along with the usual stuff for bigger kids. The park also has some exercise stations and a cool water garden area that's used to clean the lake. Though there wasn't water in it during this visit, it's still a neat aesthetic feature. The park has a lot of pretty trees and shady areas. Overall, it's a great little neighborhood park!

Great little park that I frequent quite often. Great for walking/running/exercising because of the path and little exercise stations. There's a playground for the kiddos and various pavilions through the park for cookouts/parties. Another bonus is a small building with restrooms. A corner of the park touches a nearby lake, great for seeing birds and turtles. There is a parking lot for easy access, as well as street parking along the park.

It's a nice park, with good space and shade. Calm atmosphere, and well kept. The bathrooms however, are horrible.

Enjoying the swing before the afternoon rains starts.

Orlando can boast about maintaining a fantastic park system. Wadeview Park has become a favorite with my husband and myself because when we visit Orlando, we bring our grand daughter here to play. The park seems clean and well kept. There are numerous picnic pavilions spread throughout the park, as well as a fitness trail. The main picnic shelter near the playgrounds is available for rent. The 2 play areas are designed for children ages 2-5 and 5-11. There are many events held at Wadeview park. We saw a political rally taking place in November. In October, we accompanied our grand daughter to a Trunk or Treat event. Some of the city employees like the fire department, police, and utility workers were passing out candy to the children. It was a lot of fun! We've also seen posters for movie nights in the park as well. The rest rooms are clean. We'll be back the next time we're in Orlando.

This has to be one of my favorite parks in Orlando. It is a nice neighborhood park. It's shady and peaceful. Yes, it's small but it has a few amenities: picnic tables, playground, exercise stations, parking lot, restrooms and a jogging trail around the park. I like coming here to enjoy a quiet lunch.

Very nice park East of Sodo enough to enjoy take-a-way lunch. Sodo tends to be really busy at lunchtime and Wadeview offers several pavilions and picnic tables as a place to get away from the crowds. Plenty of parking and even with the heat, there's plenty of shade. With ample barbecue pits, we've even thought about throwing a barbecue here when the weather turns. Nice respite.

Have you ever noticed that restaurants and businesses in the SoDo area are listed in the neighborhood of "Wadeview Park?" Well Virginia there IS a Wadeview Park. Drive east on Michigan Street and turn left on Osceola; drive down Osceola a few blocks and you'll run right into it. Wadeview is a comfortable city park with beautiful trees, located right next to Boone High School. It's quiet, green and peaceful. There is a fitness trail along the perimeter, and dogs on leashes are allowed. They also have a children's playground and covered picnic pavilions. The largest pavilion would accommodate eight to twelve people. I felt good here. I know that my canine will love it too.

Full of pine, cypress and oak trees, this 8 acre park is a fabulous addition to the Wadeview neighborhood of Orlando. It's near the new Sodo shopping area and not far from downtown. The trees are tall and everywhere you look. Thus, this is not the type of park where you could play soccer or flag football. Rather, it's the perfect place to bring your pets or your family for a Sunday picnic. There are many tables and charcoal grills scattered throughout and walking paths to get you there. Lamps line the perimeter so if the sun starts to set you won't need to rush out of there. There's also a small playground in case the little ones become bored. And for adults, there is an incentive to get exercising. Red Parcourse areas feature different fitness activities you can do on your own to get in shape. This is the first park I've been to that actually has such equipment which makes it unique and fabulous for anyone living nearby. A side note for everyone who loves mosquitoes as much as I do--because there are so many trees the population of bugs increases so make sure you're prepared. There's nothing worse than itching and scratching while you're trying to enjoy an afternoon outside.

This lovely neighborhood park was named in honor of Wilson Phelps, a Chicago businessman who toured…read morethe area in 1874 and purchased land east of Lake Osceola for a citrus business. In addition to growing citrus, Phelps sold lots to fellow Chicagoans and mentored Loring Chase and Oliver Chapman into turning this largely unsettled area into an upscale winter resort. Phelps, acting as a one-man chamber of commerce, provided the basis of the promotional materials used by Chase and Chapman who marketed Winter Park to wealthy northerners. This nearly six acre park, in Winter Park, provides both natural beauty and recreational opportunities. One of the nicest features of this park is the playground that was rebuilt in 2021 by Kompan Design with input from area residents. This playground was designed to improve physical, cognitive, creative, and social development while fostering imaginative play and friendships. Other park amenities include basketball courts, tennis courts, pavilions available for rental, restrooms, picnic tables, and outdoor fitness equipment. There are also two hardcourts for pickleball. This park is fully fenced for safety and is beautifully landscaped and it is close to downtown Winter Park where you can find shopping and dining options. This park is the perfect place for a morning stroll, a birthday party, play, or a picnic. Phelps Park appeals to all ages. Community Parks don't come much nicer than this one.

It underwent a major renovation in 2021 where they added lots of amenities and made everything brand new. Even now, 5 years later, everything has been so well maintained and still feels like new. They have a free miniature golf putting course, an awesome splash pad, shaded playgrounds, basketball courts, and a nice nature walking path. You'll also find shaded picnic pavilions and a community garden. My son absolutely loves coming here. The parking lot can be a little tricky to find because my GPS using Google Maps never takes me to the right place. Don't let the location detour you from visiting. The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.
