My family enjoyed exploring all of the exhibits, starting with the fun showcase of college fight songs that got everyone in the spirit. We wrapped up our visit at the Southwest Conference (SWC) display, which has something for fans of every university. The sports simulators were a big hit with our whole family -- especially trying to throw amazing pitches in the baseball game and shooting baskets into the space station-themed basketball hoop. The air conditioner could not keep up in May when the high outside was 90. I looked across the room at any given point and most of the crowd was sitting and fanning their faces with paper. Sweating. Sitting and sweating from 5pm until 9pm. I asked one of the servers about the situation and they stated the owners did not properly fit out the building from an air conditioning angle. My wife is eternally cold, even in summer. She even said she was hot. Rent in cool weather only.

We were able to pick any 6 hour time frame and there was a staff member, Joni (sp), onsite the whole time in case we needed her. They had a projector and speakers that we used to show old family videos and she helped set that up as well as add additional tables for food. They offer a huge discount if you book multiple rooms at a local motel, which we did (Holiday Inn Express.) This made the room less than any other place by far. I have been to other family events here in the past (Anniversary/Christmas) and it has always gone well. The only negative thing i found was the process for putting down a deposit and turning in the application - you have to go to two different places (deposit - City Hall, application - Civic Center) or you can mail it in. They also do not take credit cards. For out of town people, and others, it would be much more convenient to fill out paperwork and pay deposit online with a credit card.
