I'll start this review with the bad bits.
For a menu that comes in at around £200 per couple with a bottle of wine (at the cheaper end of the wine list), I wouldn't expect to be sitting on top of the people either side of me.
The proximity of the tables is more cafe style than upscale restaurant. The service whilst efficient is just a bit too quick and again is more reminiscent of a restaurant trying to turn it's tables round quickly, which in my opinion isn't justified by the price.
Interestingly, I overheard the Japanese lady sitting at the table next to me, say that she had never seen Japanese food "like this", which either means it's not authentic or its a tribute to an inventive chef.
That said and out of the way, the food is absolutely first class. The flavours and tastes will blow your mind away. Granted, we did have the 'Rolls Royce' tasting set menu, priced at £75 pp, each course was an absolute delight. The attention to detail in preparation was also excellent. The rose Pino Grigio seemed to complement the food perfectly. My favourite from the set menu, probably the wagu beef.
Would I come back? Absolutely yes for the stunning food but I'll need to save up first. read more
