It's just a Waba Grill, and I normally don't review chain places, but what makes this one a little different is how stingy they are with their Waba sauces. Usually when I go, the dude has no problem hooking me up with an extra sauce or two, but the ladies, any of them, I swear, act like it comes out of their own personal stash when I ask for an extra sauce or two. They will literally fight me for it; it's just so weird. I mean, if I have to pay for it, then I guess I'm okay with that, depending on the price, but that's not even an offer; it's just a straight no or a "we can only give you one." Bro, Is just sauce what happened to the days Waba used to have the bottles out. So annoying.

Staff is nice. I haven't been here in years and business decisions have certainly been made. A Waba Plate used to be a great meal. Now you hardly get anything: 3 kinda seared dumplings, a dozen pieces of greens, and a smear of rice with protein on top. Not only that, orange slices aren't gone anymore with the plates. Won't be coming back.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in WaBa Grill. I even had to send an email to corporate, which received no response btw. I placed an order online for a family meal for an easy week of meal prep... But that was me being ambitious. WaBa Grill has always been a dependable food joint for me, but today - I cannot fathom eating here again. The number one thing was the MEAT - they gave me burnt beef... *Please see photos*. That is straight up cancerous, am I suppose to consume that? The chicken was sorta edible, but y'all... C'MON. What is going on here??? I didn't get all of my sauces (garlic Serrano, spicy WaBa sauce; just got the regular WaBa sauce and hot sauce...) my veggies were just broccoli with no carrots and I don't even think it was the "family size" that I made a note of and paid extra for... Just overall horrible.

Welcome to East Hollywood WaBa Grill.. Hopefully you meet the standard and stay in business longer than Flame boiler was at this location. The mini bowl special is ideal, a great full meal for under $10 Mini bowl spicy chicken with the green onions and Jalapeños is always good and the 5 little dumplings hit the spot! Thank you and Best Of Luck!

The place is very clean. Staff are helpful. The restroom is well maintained. That is important. The food is alright. They have vegetarian options. The tofu is organic, and the salmon is wild-caught. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to eat healthy.

    False advertising :)

Service is bad here, they have a special here for " kids eat free on weekdays after 4pm and ALL DAY LONG ON WEEKENDS " I came one time on a Saturday afternoon and asked for the special given I was buying 2 bigger plates and I was told they don't have that special on weekends, really? The whole restaurant is promoting that special and yet you're going to tell me you don't have that special. Ok I ordered something else for my kids since he said no. 15 min later another family walks in and he gives them the special of the free kids bowl. Like are you kidding me? LOL it's always the same raza trying to f you over instead of helping each other out. I don't mind what I have to pay for food but when there's a special why not ask for it when that's why the company is giving that special, it's not like it's coming out of the employees pocket. False advertising lol

Busy location. This was actually my first time having WaBa Grill. I'm a frequent visitor at Flame Broiler, and I really don't think these 2 places differ much. The food, the taste, portions, etc are all about the same. I had the Waba Bowl with veggies and brown rice. Definitely a healthier, and quicker option than a lot of other places out there. Spacious, with seating indoors and a few table outside as well. Large parking lot, so find a parking space shouldn't be an issue. Conveniently located to LACC where I'm taking a class. Oh....and the female staff was super friendly. She was patient while I was trying to figure out what to order.

This was one of the places that we had on a list that we were considering for event venues. It was much smaller than I expected but it could still work for our party. We originally weren't planning to eat here since we had other places to check out but my friends already had a table so we came by to say hi. They tried the food but I didn't so I will skip that part here. Service unfortunately felt very awkward and weird. This takes away from the ambiance in my opinion. We did consider ordering something like dessert (but weren't too keen on the menu) in the short time we were there as a courtesy but it felt very forced and in hindsight would have taken too much time. It just didn't feel warm or friendly at all. Same vibes from hotel staff too (it's inside the Garden Suite Hotel which makes parking slightly easier compared to the rest of the area). We may still return to book an event but to be completely honest I'm not personally inclined to visit again after this experience.

The braised pork belly was so incredibly soft and melt-in-your-mouth, and paired with the pickled carrots and cucumbers tucked into that steamed bao bun - so juicy. The wood ear mushroom and bean curd stick salad was a nice lighter contrast to the heavier dishes too. We tried the beef noodles as well. The noodles were a bit on the tougher side, which is kind of expected with this style, but the flavors were solid overall. But do NOT sleep on dessert. The interior of the restaurant itself is very industrial and it's a super cute date spot. Parking is paid tho (as with most places in LA). We had a reservation on a Friday at 6:30 and were seated immediately. Our servers were super attentive and kind and our food came out relatively quickly as well. As for the food tho... it was a bit of a let down for us. Bing with cultured butter and honey - 4/5 If you come here, the one thing I do recommend is the Bing. The bread comes out warm and is super soft and fluffy in the inside, while having a crisp outside. I liked the touch of black pepper with the butter and honey, but it was a bit too much honey for my liking. Besides the bread itself, the dip wasn't anything special but dill delicious nonetheless. Bing with smoked fish and crème fraiche - 4/5 I think this is my favorite thing that we ordered. The smoked salmon paired well with the creaminess and slight tang of the crème fraiche, and I also loved the touch of dill. Nothing outstanding again, but the cold dip provided a nice temperature contrast w the warm bread. Mushroom crispy rice - 4/5 Loved the variety of mushrooms on the crispy rice. It had a nice umami flavor that paired well with the rice that had a nice crisp texture. It was a bit on the heavy side tho -- I wish it had a touch of lemon zest or something acidic to brighten up the dish. Bossam - 2.5/5 This was unfortunately the biggest let down of our meal. Priced at $135 I would have expected more, but it just tasted like a typical bbq pork shoulder. It was super heavy and greasy and even with the sides of lettuce, kimchi, pickled onions, and ssamjang, the fat still left a slightly unpleasant mouthfeel. The meat itself was very tender tho which I can appreciate. Also, I'm surprised this dish is called bossam, as it is not the traditional boiled pork belly. It didn't even have any sort of asian flavor besides the sides. When I read reviews online, this was by far the most hyped up dish, but we did not love it. All in all, I'm glad I tried the restaurant once but I would not personally come back. The ambiance is super nice, yet the food was unfortunately a let down.

However, I just got whatever was available. Going down the list of foods my friends and I shared: - Manti: Huge dumplings made out of beef and fat. These were meaty and tasty. They paired well with the side red sauce which was tangy and helped cut the fatiness of the manti. Dumpling skin could've been softer, but still pretty good. It is 5 pieces per order. - Kuurdak: A beef and potato dish. The beef was tender and I loved the flavorful potatoes with onions!
