If not for the service, this would have been a big miss on restaurants that I have visited while in Mexico City. It was a Tuesday night and exceptedly uncrowded, so I was weary of the risk in ordering anything too exotic. I went for a few basics and they really missed the mark.
I will note that the young sushi chef was kind, friendly and helpful. The review below should in no way reflect on his solid and friendlyservice...I doubt he picks the fish.
The tuna was lacking any real flavour and tenderness. It wasn't spoiled.and smelled fine, but there was a definite lack in the quality of the fish.
The rice used in the rolls was bland and undercooked. It didn't have that slightly sweet tone of quality gohan. When pressed for the rolls, it became tough and almost a barrier to the fish.
The spicy tuna roll and California dynamite faired no better. The flavour mix was not Japanese, but more of someone's interpretation of maki. There was not a lot of fish in the rolls and the extra ingredients didn't make up for it.
Clearly, not a place warranting a return visit and it's my recommendation to avoid if you're looking for real sushi. read more
