Bummer. One of my students was raving about this place the other day, so I had to give it a try. On one hand, it looks more authentic than a lot of other sushi joints in DF, and they have a lot more offerings than just sushi rolls. However, the menu is almost too big. I'd rather go to a restaurant that takes the time to craft and specialize in just a few items. There was no host/hostess to greet us, and eventually we just asked a passing waiter if we could sit at one of the empty tables out front. It's a good thing that we did, otherwise it was unclear as to whether we would ever be helped. Retrospectively, I'm surprised that the place was so popular/packed. Yet, this reality allows for an establishment to care less about the individual...Oh, well. Initially, I was impressed with the food. The gyoza were some of the best that I've had in Mexico. After that we had three different sushi dishes, the first was OK and the second two were both disappointing. Given our overall experience, I would have to attribute the place's popularity to (1) a general unfamiliarity with the potential of sushi by the majority of their patrons, and (2) a snowballing word of mouth effect. Because of the place's size, location and perceivable popularity, I can see how this place has been able to boom without offering top level quality cuisine. If you're looking for sushi, there are better options, even in this neighborhood. read more
