Complaint Regarding the Unprofessional and Disrespectful Conduct of W.J. Eimstad:
I am writing to file a formal complaint against W.J. Eimstad regarding his unprofessional and, I believe, biased treatment of me following a property survey he conducted.
Mr. Eimstad served me with legal papers demanding payment approximately 30 days after the completion of the survey that he took over four months to complete working on and off with no communication about his timeline. This occurred while my 80-year-old mother, who suffered from late-stage dementia, was receiving hospice care in my home. At no point did Mr. Eimstad attempt to contact me via email or telephone regarding the outstanding balance. I had every intention of paying the invoice and would have done so promptly had he communicated with me directly.
Furthermore, Mr. Eimstad demonstrated a consistent disregard for my personal boundaries and my family's sensitive situation. On multiple occasions during the survey, he parked his vehicle in my parking space without my permission, requiring me to ask him twice to keep it available for my mother's caregiver. He also repeatedly over the four months appeared at my home unannounced, often walking around my yard without any prior notification. This behavior caused significant distress and anxiety for my mother, given her advanced dementia, as well as for her caregiver.
Notably, Mr. Eimstad did call me on one occasion to inform me that he would be on my property. This demonstrates his ability to communicate by phone. Therefore, his decision to serve me with small claims papers instead of a simple phone call or email regarding the bill feels deliberate and unnecessarily aggressive, especially given the difficult circumstances I was facing with my mother's end-of-life care.
As a Black woman, and Mr. Eimstad being an elderly white man, I cannot help but feel that his lack of communication and his decision to immediately pursue legal action, rather than a professional and respectful outreach, were influenced by a lack of respect for me as a person. His behavior suggests a sense of entitlement where he expects consideration for his disregard of my boundaries, yet he extended no such courtesy or professional communication to me regarding a straightforward payment.
I will be addressing the small claims complaint while simultaneously grieving the recent loss of my mother. However, I felt it crucial to report Mr. Eimstad's unprofessional conduct and the disrespectful manner in which I was treated, which I believe was compounded by racial bias. His actions were particularly egregious given the vulnerable situation of my family at the time. read more
