Nancy was rude and condescending to me, as I was trying to reschedule my appointment because I am pregnant and couldn't make it she persistently made it difficult to do so and was making personal remarks that were beyond unprofessional. I attempted to call back and voice my concerns and discomfort she immediately started to yell at me and say I was " tongue lashing " at her and as I was letting her know I'd like to speak to her manager she yelled at me and then hung up the phone on me. From the moment I walked into 1187 Dental, I knew it was different then dental offices I had been to before. The front desk staff was amazing with figuring out my insurance information, and walked me through the whole process. (Thanks Amber!) When I was led back to the dental chair, they offered to play whatever music would make me comfortable. Dr. Rezsofi came in almost immediately and spent quite awhile talking to me about my fears and making me comfortable. He never acted like I was being silly, and truly listened as I explained why I was afraid. Amber was equally awesome as she took x-rays and explained each step before she proceeded. They even had a tv over the chair so I could see the results of the X-Ray. I had come in with a painful and inflamed gum and Dr. Rezsofi was able to quickly establish what was wrong, provide temporary relief, and outline what we would need to do next. Since that first visit I have rescheduled three times. Once for a cleaning, once for wisdon tooth removal, and once to have some minor cosmetic fixes to my front teeth. For a girl that refused to go to the dentist this was a BIG change. I truly appreciate everyone at 1187 Dental for helping me ensure that I can take care of my dental health without fear. When they give you their estimated costs, be sure to have them contact your insurance to see what insurance will pay vs what they are "estimating" the insurance to pay before proceeding. I've had issues with DOHO saying that insurance won't pay for a charge and in fact, they will pay a portion of it. DOHO wants their money upfront.....then you have to fight with them to have them put a credit on your account or get the money returned. Plan on waiting once you check in. Almost everytime I go, Dr. Wong is at least 1 hour late. Unacceptable as their is no consideration for the patients time.

Having had 5 fillings done by him, all with ongoing issues, I was in to have another tooth looked at and an adjustment to the one done 4 months prior that continued to hurt despite them saying it would "just take time for the nerve to calm down" when I had called to ask about it continuing to hurt, as that had never happened with the fillings I had with my previous dentist. He told me the only option was to have my tooth extracted (and pressured me to do that without giving me time to consider my options), made adjustments to the prior filling unsuccessfully (making it worse), then upon checkout did not give me ANY statement showing my charges, simply a verbal total. The woman at the desk got quite angry when I simply asked to see my bill. She would not even look at me, told me she would "just take off" some of the charges, to which I responded that was not what I was asking, I merely wanted to see my invoice... which she NEVER gave me. She asked me if I wanted my credit card receipt, but that is not an invoice nor does it show what the charges are covering. I understand everyone is going through something. The day prior, I had taken my mom to have surgery on a very aggressive cancer we have been fighting. That is no excuse to take it out on a patient, nor any other person. It definitely doesn't excuse the way I was treated throughout this entire experience. Despite my personal struggles, I wasn't doing that to anyone. I was questioning, but still kind. This is a business that shows the problems start at the top and work their way down. I did question him wanting to completely remove a tooth without further discussion. He clearly had no interest in having someone question his word. Removing a tooth is not a move a rational person would make without taking time to get more information. If simply asking questions about YOUR OWN dental care or wanting to SEE your invoice are merit to send a letter like this from a dentist, maybe he's in the wrong business? From the time I got home that day, I found my old dentist, booked an appointment with her, got in to have it checked, and found out I was correct and that the tooth IS sound to repair, confirming my suspicions that I should ask questions and get a second opinion. My actual GREAT dentist is also having to do repairs on the teeth this guy worked on, as he actually made them worse. She also looked over his records where he had told me over half of my teeth needed extensive, EXPENSIVE repairs and found that it was not correct. He was recommending I have unnecessary repairs on teeth that are sound. After she did full mouth x-rays, my dentist found I have 6 teeth that need work, and 5 of them are teeth this terrible dentist "fixed". If you or someone you care about is considering going here-- JUST DON'T!!! Do yourself a favor and go to a professional, caring dentist who does the kind of work you should expect for yourself or your loved ones, and treats you like a person not someone he can use to extract money and teeth. There are too many great dentists around to have shoddy dental work done by an arrogant, bad actor who is the type of business that makes people unnecessarily afraid of dentists. After contacting my insurance company directly, they provided a detailed explanation of benefits confirming that my total out-of-pocket responsibility was $722. Despite this, the dental office charged my card $1,419.60 -- nearly double the verified amount owed. Additionally, I scheduled my care with a specific dentist, but for my second visit I was seen by an associate due to the original provider's unavailability. Although this change was not initiated by me, I was assessed a $75 "new doctor" fee. Charging a patient under these circumstances is misleading and raises serious concerns about billing integrity. When I attempted to resolve these discrepancies, I encountered repeated resistance. I was forced to make numerous attempts to obtain a refund, and while a partial refund was eventually issued, the office still owes me over $100 based on the insurance-approved amounts. Rather than addressing the matter in good faith, staff refused to engage in meaningful resolution and instead directed me to "take it up with my insurance," despite the discrepancies originating from their billing. The situation escalated further when the office contacted law enforcement and accused me of harassment simply for persistently requesting to speak with a manager regarding a legitimate financial dispute. Following this, they ceased communication entirely and appear to have blocked my phone number, effectively preventing any further attempt to resolve the issue -- including contact with corporate oversight. Throughout this process, staff provided inconsistent and demonstrably inaccurate information, much of which directly conflicted with documentation from my insurance provider. These actions raise serious concerns regarding compliance with standard billing practices and transparency obligations. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against doing business with this office. Patients should be aware of the risk of being overcharged, improperly billed, and denied appropriate resolution when discrepancies arise.
