Washington is a midway point for yearly travels for me, and this time I decided to stop at the…read moreGrand China buffet for an evening meal. It did not disappoint; good selection, with plenty of options, including vegetarian items. It's more or less what you'd expect from a Chinese buffet, and with a pretty large selection. Service is friendly, and I'm glad I picked this place.

We arrived here after much deliveration, looking for someplace rated well with sushi and…read moretraditional chinese, etc. It was on our way, perfect. We get there, and the pictures were accurate but it is empty of people, and the food is much more sparse than I would expect. Not only that but it appears (and subsequently tastes) quite subpar for everything I can recall. I don't recall an item that made me think how it was better than acceptable to fill me. There was a sushi space with at least three spaces for plates, and all of the plates had the same three items on them, one being vegetarian, one being "spicy," and I don't even remember the other. The sushi was all a poor show, and they weren't worth going back for another round. I have not skipped the second round many times. The sushi prep space and area did not appear as clean as it could, and there was no clear sushi chef there, no certifications in view...(not saying they don't have them, but poor selection, bad cuts, dirty/messy appearance, the gentleman sitting there like at a gas station checkout) Like I said, the traditional stuff was not great fare. I got a second plate but to try some other things. Was still unimpressed completely. My wife was even struck by the poorness in such a strong way that she brought up leaving a review. Her experience with the traditional foods and desserts was poor, she finished little, and was overall unhappy. We don't hesitate for reviewing both directions, I hate to have to leave a poor one - we had a bad experience and you have issues to work on. Tried some dessert. There was a mousse dessert that was tasty - prepackaged, nothing special. Otherwise, also, not worth it. Honestly the rest looked prepackaged as well. I do expect the prepackaged and bulk stuff from a buffet, that's just part of it. This was a poor show of even that. It requires very little effort... Anyway, I was not blown away, in fact I was disappointed in a significant way. We were really hoping for one last thing on our trip to be sushi at a buffet, with the other traditional foods as well, and this just messed it all up being such a poor experience and food provision. Maybe next time, but not here.

The hours are 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, although table games are typically open only during the daytime. Customers may play with their PENN PLAY card or with cash. The casino also has restaurants, bars, horse-racing, and other events. For about 11 years, my husband and I have been occasional customers of this casino. We like how the floor is split into smoking and non-smoking sections. We gamble relatively small amounts of money, and in both of our visits in the past year, we came out slightly ahead in our gambling on the slot machines. Our cashier paid us promptly and courteously. In October 2025, this casino had The Tipsy Cauldron Pop-up Pub, which had Halloween and Harry Potter themes. The bar was not busy when my husband and I arrived, but we waited several minutes for an employee to take our order. We skipped ordering foods, but we really liked our two drinks, the Spellbound Cider (rum, apple cider, cranberry, cinnamon, etc.) and the Rotten Pumpkin (vodka, coconut rum, mango, triple sec, and orange). I wish, though, that the cups were as fun as the ones shown online--a witch's hand and a cauldron.

Both reservations and walk-ins are available. My husband and I arrived at opening time for lunch, and many tables were available. One table was dirty, so we sat at a different one. Throughout our meal, two employees kindly served us. The menu listed many meat, seafood, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, and the spiciness levels were customizable. I saw chaat, tadoori, biryani, dosa, and more. Prices were reasonable. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Mixed Vegetable Curry - 4.5 stars - I requested a spiciness level of medium, and the cook prepared it accordingly. The ingredients appeared to include green beans, peas, carrots, cauliflower, potato, onion, tomato, clove, cinnamon, ginger, and garlic. The serving size was generous, so I could have had leftovers for a latter meal. Chicken Saag - 4.5 stars - My husband usually orders Saag Paneer, but he chose chicken this time. Other ingredients included spinach, fenugreek, ginger, and garlic. He chose a spiciness level of mild, and the cook prepared it as such. He said that it was "tasty" and "very good" and that he would happily eat at this restaurant again in the future. The side of basmati rice was cooked pefectly. Garlic Naan - 5 stars - My husband described this garlic naan as "Oh, wow! Very flavorful! Crunchy but not overdone."

My husband and I had a reservation for dinner here. The dress code was business casual, but some other customers wore smart casual. The waitress provided friendly service. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Chopped Salad - 4.5 stars - Iceberg lettuce was topped with grape tomatoes, cucumbers, green olives, croutons, bacon, and parmigiano-reggiano cheese. Bistecca Wedge Salad - 4.5 stars - Roughly half of a head of lettuce was topped with smoked bacon, onions, bleu cheese, and gorgonzola crumble. (No tomatoes at my husband's request.) Salmon Oscar - 4.5 stars - Atlantic salmon was grilled and topped with flavorful colossal lump crab, asparagus, and hollandaise. Filet mignon - 5 stars - My husband ordered a 10-ounce filet mignon, and the chef cooked it medium-rare as requested. On the side was béarnaise sauce. My husband enjoyed this steak very much. Au Gratin Potatoes - 4.5 stars - This side dish looked like "potato lasagna." Potatoes were thinly sliced and layered so they looked like lasagna. The cheesy sauce tasted good. New York Cheese Cake - 4.5 stars - The slice of this cake was a good size. It had a nice cheesy flavor, and we liked its graham crust, strawberry sauce, and sweet whipped cream. We drank water and did not order beverages. The total cost for this meal was $171 plus a tip.
