I recently inherited a 2004 Toyota Camry XLE with over 255K miles that had been sitting in a Los…read moreAngeles storage warehouse for about 3 years. After driving it around Los Angeles for a few days, my husband felt we should ship it or tow it with a rented truck and car carrier because of its age, mileage and not knowing the car's mechanical and repair history, which makes a lot of common sense but was cost prohibitive. Because of my sense of adventure, I talked him into a one way road trip from LA with the car after promising to have it evaluated with a reputable mechanic once we got home. We drove it to Orlando after buying it a new battery, windshield wipers and got an oil change. I had seen a lot of positive Nextdoor posts about Mike the Mechanic in Winter Garden, so I went there yesterday for a detailed inspection because of things we noticed about the car during the road trip home. When I made the appointment with Brad, he told me to bring him a list of things I thought needed special attention in addition to the general inspection. After doing so when I returned on appointment day and after the mechanic's inspection, Brad sat down with me and patiently explained to me in terms I could understand line by line what all his mechanic said was wrong, including the function of each part, to the point it just didn't make sense to spend any more money on the car, especially since the worst problem was a fuel line leak, which explains the constant smell of gas in the car that I dismissed as accidental gas spill before we took possession. Needless to say I was shocked because we never saw any exterior floor leaks after parking the car wherever we went but somehow miraculously made it home safely by the Grace of God, sometimes driving on I-10 with speeds over 80mph in Texas. All of the other things wrong were fixable but the cost of fixing EVERYTHING would equal the cost of 3 of the same type used car. I've heard so many horror stories about how mechanics take advantage of women, so being an elderly woman I was very impressed and appreciative of Brad's (and the mechanic's) honest assessment because to look at the car and the fact it was driveable for such a long distance on the highways over a week, you would never know so much was wrong. He also suggested that if I am interested in buying a used car, bring it in for an inspection for free before signing on the dotted line. Saying all that to say I won't be using Mike the Mechanic or any other mechanic to work on my unsafe inherited car but will use him for our other cars. HONESTY is their virtue so quality is a given. I recommend calling Brad for an appointment at Mike the Mechanic, (407) 877-3933, 1143 E Plant St Winter Garden, FL 34787.

After switching out the gas cap, the light still didn't go off. We scheduled an appointment with them and they were kind and quick to get us in. My husband dropped off my car at 2:00pm on a Friday and the place was packed! That's always a good sign as others are using them, too. They were prompt in getting us in, communicating with us, and fixing the issue. In addition, they didn't even charge us because it was simply just resetting the light. We will definitely be going back to Mikes!

Since then, we haven't taken our cars anywhere else, and our cars are purring like kittens! They are quick to get your car in. They always call to confirm what they are doing before they do it. They won't try to sell you on getting something done that you don't actually need. The staff is friendly. This is a trustworthy, neighborhood business. I highly recommend checking them out! UPDATE: After I got a new vehicle, I took it to the Chevy dealer where I bought it to get my discounted oil change. The next day, I found oil all over the floor of my garage. I had to drive across the state that day, and needed it fixed quickly. Swinson's got me in right away and fixed me up. I can't believe I trusted my car to anyone else. Never fall for a discount at a dealership! I'm never cheating on Swinson's again.

When he arrived in Florida his AC wasn't working and we were referred here by Carmax to see if it was a covered warranty issue. They said come on in tomorrow morning and we can take a look at it. They discovered it was not a covered repair, however, they were able to fix it quickly the same day and luckily it was only a couple hundred dollars. Everyone was very polite and professional. Nice cold AC now in this hot Florida weather! Highly recommend.

My second time here, I found that they quoted me far above market for some work that needed to be…read moredone. While service and quality of work is still there, I did feel as if they points in regard to honesty. For instance, they quoted me ~$470 for a battery swap, which is absurd when you consider that a battery costs ~$200 with free replacement at AutoZone (while they quoted me $165 for labor for a 5 minute job). Additionally, for all of the other work they quoted me for, they were $400-600 over market and in one instance ~$800 over market, which is way too much. Perhaps it's because I'm a young guy, and I often give an impression of ignorance, but regardless, even if that were the case, that should be an opportunity to teach and lead, not an opportunity to take advantage of somebody for monetary gain. After consideration, I feel as if 2 stars are warranted. Especially in this industry, honesty and integrity are everything, and in this financial climate, an attempt to take advantage of one's clients lacks integrity and honesty in my estimation. What I was happy with was the thoroughness of inspection, the ease of access to mechanic notes, and the whole process in general. This is very good and top notch. But that does not in any way warrant what they quoted me for
