Public transit option from Caltrain to San Francisco International Airport…read more I highly recommend this option to get to the airport. You can take it from downtown San Francisco to the airport. I'm used to SF Muni, which is held together by duct tape and a prayer. The 390 was plush, reminding me of a 60's bucket seat and clean with quite a bit of space for the isle ways. Sadly SamTrans as with VTA doesn't have nextbus but the quality of the ride sometimes does negate the quantity of the buses you can catch. Sometimes.

Now featuring a Lot Cop for reduced car break-ins. Original Greyhound Terminal now owned and operated by Samtrans. I used the "Throne" branded "free" toilet paid by my tax money. The entry process with the QR code and SMS text message was interesting, but functional. Of writing, this is a brand new, unused unit with no graffiti, trash or discoloration. TP was fully stocked, all plumbing/electrical worked and the toilets/sink function as expected with clean water. Get your Green-ass a SamTrans Express pass and limit yourself to just a few dozen germs. So, I've done both the SamTrans Express and the BART boogie to get to work. No doubt in my mind, I would take SamTrans in a New York minute. (There's gotta be some kind of symbolism there, no?) Anyway, less people take the MX Express bus to the City than take BART from Millbrae which means less germ exposure. I like it. Another plus, you avoid that excruciating BART rail screeching whilst it traverses through the underground. ouch...

This is a review of the northbound side only…read more I've passed this thing so many times over the years and wondered Who the heck needs a rest stop this close to San Francisco, let alone this close to civilization? It's uselessly close to the beginning of my southbound trips, and I normally plan everything well and wouldn't even be on the 280 northbound 90 percent of the time. And then an annoying thing happened. On my last trip back up to San Francisco, traffic and traffic and leaving on the wrong day and traffic and traffic caused by a trampoline in the middle of the freeway and a little bit more traffic teamed up to stretch my trip out to about nine hours. So I actually needed to pee right around Crystal Springs--or I should say I held it vociferously, knowing Crystal Springs was coming up. From the parking lot, it looks really nice. The grounds are graded interestingly, the buildings are new, and the trash and recycling receptacles are clearly marked. I was prepared, maybe, to give it four stars. But then I had trouble actually finding parking. Yes, at around 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday night, this smallish parking lot was almost filled with cars. I had to break some traffic laws to go back to the spots I had intentionally passed up because they were too close to the entrance. Why were all these people here? And about half of the cars had their lights on. I get it; I take naps at random times on the road too, but were all these people hunkering down at this place off the 280 by 10:30? On a Saturday? That spooked me a little bit, so I went to use the bathroom, and that's where it got worse. Yes, the buildings are nice and new, but there are or might be more than one building with a men's room and more than one with a women's room. The men's room I could find was disgustingly dirty. I don't mean it hadn't been cleaned for a while; I mean it was disgusting. There were pools of who knows what liquid in front of the regular urinals, the toilet stalls were Cyclospora ground zeros, and there were two or three separate intravenous drug kits just lying on the floor, one of them in a yellow puddle. I ended up using the kiddie urinal, which you can see from outside, for some reason, and the door was held open, and I had no interest in touching more than I absolutely needed to. I used to worry about rest stops in the middle of the night in rural, desolate areas. It turns out that the junkies, tweakers, johns, and people who tint their windshields to black (for some reason) are more likely to frequent rest stops in Burlingame. Who knew?

(over a year, actually) And the ADA Bathroom Stall is unusable to anyone who needs to use it because there is NO DOOR. It's gone missing. How does that happen? Anyhow, one would normally think that it is a violation to have no usable ADA accessible restroom stall ... however in today's time, 2025, is it possible that the Americans with Disabilities Act has been defenestrated? (They rarely open the women's restroom on the lift side; door is always closed/locked. This restroom has more functional toilets.... but it is rarely open for use. Like 99.9% of the time, the cleaner & more functional left side women's restroom is closed.) Problems in the right side women's restroom include : -- Only 1 fully working stall out of 5 stalls total. -- No usable ADA accessible restroom stall. -- 1st stall is unusable : closed "out of order" (closed for many months). -- 2nd stall is unusable : has missing toilet seat & the door does not lock. -- 3rd stall is unusable : closed "out of order" (closed for many months). -- 4th stall has working toilet & the door locks. -- 5th stall is unusable (large ADA stall) : has NO DOOR. In summary : Only 1 working toilet stall out of 5. Four out of five stalls are not fully functional (including the ADA stall). So the weird thing is that this rest area had been closed for a few weeks during the last month or two. After it reopened , NONE of the issues in the women's restroom were resolved. What did they do during all that time it was closed and blocked off to cars? .
