My driver (wish I remembered her name!) was so friendly and clearly knew the roads really well. Since this was my first time crossing a land border, she gave me great tips on how the crossing works and how to talk to customs agents -- super helpful for a first-timer like me. She was also really flexible and accommodating without charging anything extra. What really stood out was that both the driver and the company followed up after the trip just to check that I got home safely. It's a small thing, but it made the whole ride feel less like a transaction and more like getting a ride from a friend or a cousin. Ted offered his services at a fraction of that amount and the experience could not have been better. He communicated with me the morning of to let us know he was on the way, he arrived on time and was very helpful getting three senior citizens and tons of bags into his van. After I parked, I walked down to the ferry dock, watched a couple of ferries come and go, then headed back to the parking area, climbed into my Sprinter van, and locked up for the night. Yes, I spent the night here and while that may or may not be allowed, it worked for me. At 6:00 the next morning, I work up, bought my ticket and was loaded onto the ferry about 20 minutes later. It's a 15 minute ride to cross over the lake, which I spent in the Sprinter making coffee and occasionally looking out. Super easy to cross the lake and when we arrived, the unloading was quick and I was on my way. This is a super convenient way to cross over from Plattsburgh New York to (a half hour from) Burlington Vermont. Very cool and if you are not wanting to go around the lake, this is a fabulous alternative.
