I've been going here for a few months now. Needed a manicure before a client meeting one day and…read moreeven tho I usually do one like once a month or once every two months I didn't have the time to fix chipped nail polish so I ran over here during my lunch hour. Service here is impeccable. They are thoughtful, kind, the ambiance and feel of this place is amazingly peaceful and it's super duper clean. All the things you need in a spa. They've even got some sort of sound proofing thing going on because whenever I've come here there hasn't been traffic noise - it's truly a peaceful oasis in an otherwise frantically crowded neighborhood. That being said, I've now come here a few times. My manicure have always been ooookaaaaaay. But I return because it's a wonderful experience. You lie down, there are comfy pillows, almost an eerie silence with very calming music playing overhead and it always smells lovely. It's a great way to spend a lunch hour and kind of recharge your batteries after a rough morning. This past visit (probably like my 5th or 6th - I don't always remember to check in) my manicure really wasn't okay. It was bad. I hate having to do things like ask for the nail file and file my own nail after someone makes it significantly shorter and files it into a crooked square shape...when I try to keep my nails a nice medium length (rather than short :-/) and I was clear about wanting a more rounded square. I had to fix a few after I was done...I also had to ask for my (very attentive) nail tech to paint the sides where she would miss a lot of my nail...having to fix some left some nails darker than others. She also did one coat of the deep blood red polish I chose and then a top coat. Any polish, especially darker colors require a minimum of 2 coats. This is pretty common nail polish knowledge. She was so nice and I was nice about it but after paying and getting to my office I was pretty horrified at how my nails looked. They were all really weird. Lots of marks, lots of unnecessary thickness, some air bubbles - I was pretty upset. There's also usually a brief complimentary back rub done afterwards which is a really nice treat and something I got used to the previous times I've come here which makes the experience worth coming back for considering every mani I've had here has been ooookay. Yesterday's was not okay. There are photos. Today I've got two nail polishes where the polish has chipped from just typing at work...my normal Astoria spot manicures generally last me 3 weeks. I'll probably return sometime for a couples massage or something as I mentioned my fondness for this place to my husband, but I don't know if I'd come back for another manicure. I don't do my nails that often and I need consistency...plus it hurts to spend money on something that's meant to treat myself and the final result is something I could have done to myself 100% better. I felt like I had to kind of hide my hands during my client meeting. Again, I've had good experiences here and not let frustrated so 3 stars for A okay. Ooookaaaay.

The entire team went ABOVE and BEYOND to make my second experience pristine! They were apologetic and accommodating. I truly understand that things happen and my skin did not agree with something, but their willingness to correct it trumps my flare up. My return was met with concern and an eagerness to provide excellent care. I can't stress how much they apologized and it felt so sincere. Sometimes you get poor service and people make excuses or worse than that, don't acknowledge your concern at all, but that was definitely not the case here. I appreciate Mi Ra for being so sweet and supportive & big shout out to the manager, Sung for truly caring about my experience! Thank you guys again!!! In a few days my face will be better. I'll never forget how you made this better for me. Tha

Opted for a standard 60 minute massage. Was taken to a fairly non-descript room that was very white. And not shady or gross. After undressing, the masseuse came in, greeted me and started in. She asked about pressure and any focus areas. And accordingly, delivered a very good massage for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend this place!

The spa was difficult to find. After stepping into a crowded, dark elevator, so tiny I could not…read moresee the elevator panel, I chose Floor 12. No Sena Spa on 12. I thought I had been taken in by bots on the internet claiming the place was great. I emailed. I texted. Apparently there is a floor "12A," the button for which I could not see in the crowded elevator. (This is probably a very old NYC building, where sometimes the 13th floor was not labeled as such because of the superstition behind #13 being unlucky.) (12A wasn'tg any luckier for me, sorry to say.) Finally found it, and another customer came right behind me. Receptionist was on the phone. No one to greet you otherwise. Customer behind me tried to push in ahead of me, but I stood my ground and waited for the receptionist to get off of the phone. We were now 7 minutes into my appointment, and I was miffed that there was no one else to take care of you. The pictures on the internet are very misleading. The space is TINY. Receptionist looks towards a clinician blowing dry someone's hair, when I indicate the Skinceuticals facial I had booked. Oh no. She's not done. In a very disorganized fashion, after I had specifically requested someone very gentle for my facial, a random clinician was recruited to do my treatment. She opened the door, and the room had another client in it, on another bed, with a barely a 1.5 feet in between the two beds, a curtain strung between. You have to be kidding me. You want me to pay (with tip) $200+ for a facial and you can't give me a private room? This was infuriating. By the way, the customer who had flown in behind me was taken first and given the private room. For what service, I don't know, but I was first. It was too much. Now we're 16 minutes into my appointment time. When I complained that (1) the person behind me was taken first ("Oh, your appointments were at the same time" -- I shot back "I don't care about that. I was here first.") and (2) she was given a private room, the receptionist said she would ask the clinician in the private room to switch. Fuhgeddaboutit. I asked for a refund. To her credit, the receptionist didn't argue. She refunded my $50 deposit and I left. This is what happens when people who claim to be professionals let their appointments run late, and don't apologize. And when customer expectations for a $200 service are dashed completely by being offered to SHARE a room for an expensive treatment, when you want to talk about difficulties you have with your skin, problem areas, PRIVATELY -- not so that the client and practioner next to you can hear what you're saying. If you don't care about privacy, lateness, lack of professional courtesy, chaos because no manager is on site, I invite you to try this place. I was disgusted and had traveled over an hour to get there. NOT WORTH IT.
