Friday night however, the female cashier with dyed hair was very rude. When trying to extend our time she spent a good 10+ minutes talking with friends. Then when we went to pay, I wanted to pay with cash. She stated, "wow, why didn't you tell me that you were paying cash." I felt my face drop, that's when she said, "well I didn't even ask cash or card." As she came into tell us our time was done, she also was making a face. Lastly, when we were leaving our room. We did stack our drinks and food baskets. Additionally we wiped the table. But upon realizing she would have to take the glasses she made a face of annoyance. To only pass the dishes onto her friends! If we're paying a premium price for a room (especially 2 hours on a Friday night), we expected some kind of service. For the past five years, we had an absolutely wonderful relationship with the sales team. They were kind, accommodating, professional, and genuinely cared about making our events successful. They went above and beyond to work with us, answer our questions, help us plan, and make sure our employees had a great experience. We never felt like just another customer or another event on the calendar. They took the time to build a relationship with us, and that level of customer service is a huge reason we continued coming back year after year. Even when there were questions or changes to our events, the sales team was always willing to communicate, find solutions, and work with us. We have trusted Main Event Albuquerque with our company events for five years because of the people who made that experience so positive. Unfortunately, that all changed with the new Sales Manager, Brenda (I believe that is her name). My recent experience with her was completely different. She was dismissive, rude, and spoke to me in a way that was incredibly unprofessional. She refused to honor the contract terms we had used for our previous three events, and when I attempted to discuss the situation, there was very little accountability or willingness to work toward a reasonable solution. What concerned me even more was an interaction I witnessed when I called to speak with the sales team. I could hear a woman yelling in the background. I was told that it was the manager. I ultimately told the employee I would call back because I was uncomfortable continuing the conversation while hearing an employee being spoken to that way. That was particularly disappointing because the sales team we had worked with had always been so kind and professional. They were the reason we continued to bring our business back to Main Event Albuquerque year after year. A good manager should build upon the positive relationships and culture that already exist not completely change the experience for both customers and employees. It is unfortunate that after five years of loyalty and consistently positive experiences, one management change has completely changed our view of this location. Our company will not be returning to Main Event Albuquerque, and we will be taking our annual events elsewhere. I truly hope corporate leadership recognizes the value of the sales team that worked so hard to build these customer relationships, because they were exceptional. They deserved better management, and loyal customers deserve better treatment.
