If you're considering Voya Financial, proceed with caution. I've been waiting over a week for a transaction that was supposedly being expedited. I've spoken with four different representatives. Every one of them assured me the transaction would be completed within two business days. Yet the funds have remained in my account with no movement. Finally, the most recent representative admitted they're experiencing an internal processing issue, which explains the delay. Ironically, I was once again told it should be completed within "the next one or two business days." I've never experienced this kind of issue with any other investment company or financial institution. Hopefully they resolve the problem soon, but based on my experience, I'd recommend doing your research before choosing Voya. read more

Twice I got stuck with voya, 74.08 is my profit in 7 years after fees, taxes were included. Stupid incompetent employees must be the norm at voya. I actually left a job that signed me up for this scam company. Trying to opt out on the phone and website was impossible as the website crashes constantly and the 3rd world employees are stupid stupid and beyond incompetent. HR at the job said it was on voya to end a 0 dollar account and voya said it was the employers responsibility. I quit before voya leeches and parasites could get any money from me. Get out of voya if you can. I seriously hope voya crashes as a company and I can do a happy dance. I seriously don't care about anyone not liking my prayers for the utter collapse of Voya read more

scammers, liars, rude and stupid. worst company in the world. My transaction is still going on after 35 days and no solution in sight.

Horrible customer service, and communication is non-resistant. There were problems with my roll-over from my 401k into another financial services company, and they never let me know there was an issue with the rollover. They don't accept an electronic signatures, and my funds sat there for weeks, delaying the withdrawal. I cannot recommend VOYA. read more

I'm currently on medical disability and Voya has delayed my claim and payment. Instead of emailing to schedule calls, they call at random times. They don't respond to emails. Absolute trash. Worst customer service. Voya outsourced its support to an Indian call center. It takes weeks for an answer if you get an answer at all. They close tickets without resolving issues. Its stupid. read more

Almost every aspect of the Voya experience is a quagmire. The online interface is a morass of confused flows jumbled together that has clearly not gone through any usability studies. God forbid you are directed to call their Customer Service, because the automated robot forces you around a quagmire of menus asking for pin numbers and trying to get you to do voice authentication, which is super annoying when I've declined this on all other occasions already. The biggest insult is when the robot suggests you can do stuff online directly instead of calling them, when in actual fact you can't ,because their system is broken, giving me an error message and prompting me to call customer service (see photo). When you actually get to talk to someone, usually that person is actually nice and easy to deal with, but why do I have to take a half hour out of my life to do what I should be able to do online, myself, in 2 minutes? The best solution? As soon as possible roll over the full amount of your account to an external self-directed IRA where you don't have to deal with Voya ever again. read more

How are these scam artists still allowed to be in business? They're total and complete trash. Insanely incompetent. I was unfortunate enough to have to deal with these clowns when my company decide to use them for our retirement plans. Anything that you need that should be completely simple ends up being an astronomical task and burden on you. This is one the most unprofessional, I don't even want to call them a company, let's just say outfit I've ever come across. How have they not been shut down by the Govt?! Btw their corporate office is in Hartford Connecticut and New York. Here are a couple of numbers if you just want to call and complain. Their CEO is Heather Lavallee and David Katz is their Executive VP. (212) 309-8200 (860) 275-3720 Has anyone tried filing a complaint with the CFPB? read more

VOYA IS A TERRIBLE COMPANY FOR HSA, FSA and anything they have a hand in. It truly is amazing that even with the gross level of incompetency, that you are actually still open. I have had issues since day 1 of dealing with them. No one knows anything, has any answers or the slightest bit of information about your own account. I question how they have any good ratings because it can't just be me. One example is, I lost my HSA card and requested a new one. I was sent the exact card I lost that obviously can't be activated because it's lost in the system. BEFORE you just to the defense of Voya.... Who sent out the exact same duplicate card, Voya, not me. That is a mild example of how incompetent they are. I hope they do a complete overhaul, extensive training and re establish the entire company. read more

Absolutely WORST Financial Institution I have ever dealt with. Upon retiring, my husband and I moved ALL of our retirement accounts into just one so that it is easier to manage. We are also using a money management company; they assisted us with all of our rollovers. It was very easy, EXCEPT FOR VOYA. One year later, plus MANY emails, phone calls and letters, I STILL HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN MY MONEY. They make it IMPOSSIBLE to get your money out of their institution. Even my money manager has never experienced a company this bad. Thousands of dollars that I invested and am not "allowed" to get. They should be shut down. read more

Absolute scam of a company. Given the run around on getting signed receipts from providers that weren't necessary then a deadline changed due to me changing companies but I wasn't informed of that, was directed on how to fill out the paperwork without any note of that change of date, and submitted multiple times paperwork they couldn't find in their system. They run out the clock and keep your money. All denied. Appeals, approved or denied by their own internal group, sent in 40 pages of paperwork, denied. I'm contacting the attorney general in my state. This is in practice a scam company. My account still has my balance there in their portal, they say it just doesn't exist anymore in their system. Their call center staff laughed and thought it was funny when I said i had sent in 40 pages of paperwork. Another staff made me get signatures from a school closed for the summer and I later discovered the signatures weren't even needed. Given direction and how to fill out forms for receipts and told I had until the 30th of September back in May, then submitting it is suddenly past deadlines I received no notice of. This is a scam. I'm sending over my meticulous notes on the obstruction throughout to the Attorney General of my state. read more

I've never dealt with a company as incompetent as this one. Also, I am on COBRA, and have to pay $20 *per transaction* if I want to pay my monthly VOYA health premium online. Though it's free to send a check, I am hesitant to do so because I fear it would just get lost and my health insurance would end. Also, if you have to call them, ask for someone in the USA. In my experience, the customer service agents in the USA are pretty bad, but the ones in the Philippines are worse because they have less of an idea of what's going on. read more

It's frustrating that Voya, my husband's 401(k) provider, actively prevents customers from accessing their own financial data through trusted third-party platforms like Monarch Money, YNAB, or Empower. Voya markets itself as a company that helps people "plan for the future," yet by blocking integrations with widely used money management apps, they're making it harder for customers to see their full financial picture and make informed decisions. In today's world, financial planning means being able to track your net worth, budget across households, and model retirement withdrawals with real-time data. Voya's lack of support for this is disappointing--and perhaps one of the reasons many customers choose to roll over their assets to more modern, open platforms the moment they're able. Transparency, access, and interoperability aren't just nice-to-haves--they're essential for effective retirement planning. It's time providers like Voya stopped blocking access and started empowering their customers. read more

I had my retirement set up and worked through a contractor with local state government. I have had so financial difficulties and health problems and due to this have been trying to withdraw funds from my 401k with Voya Financial. I initially tried to take money out back in February but had problems getting my pin. The account now is less than a 3rd of what I put in, in February and still they are not helping me to get my money. I've delay with horrible and I empathetic responses from staff. My health is further deteriorating and I have been in and out of the hospital. It took 4 months to update my address so I am not happy with this added stress to an already stressful situation. Every time I call I get a different answer and to be called the most ethical company their seems like their should be some consistency across the board. I've had people lie and say they were managers, yell at me and hang up. I haven't always been the most pleasant to speak to due to my deteriorating health and keep getting the run around. My patience has run out and moving forward I would not put any money into a Voya 401K account. The manager I spoke to today said her name was Michelle and when I said that to her, her response was good, don't. If that is how they treat their customers than I rather not engage with Voya because if I wanted to be treated badly and talked to any kind of way I'd choose that. Customer service is key because without customers you have no job or company even to run. read more

AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! Horrible customer service. I have been trying to roll a 401K account out of Voya for several months. I have attempted via 7 phone calls and on 6 of those phone calls the Voya representative disconnected me and did not call back. Today the Voya representative disconnected me apparently because it was quitting time. When I do get some information it conflicts with what the previous advisor told me. Horrible customer service, I am at a lost of how to proceed. Do I make a dozen calls before I turn it over to an attorney? Or do I make two dozen calls? Or do I make 100 calls? read more

I strongly advise caution when considering supplemental insurance, particularly with Voya. I submitted an accident claim for my son on October 16, 2024, following a severe football injury in which he fractured his femur and required major surgery. Despite the pain and hardship he's endured, Voya's claims process has added unnecessary frustration. After completing Voya's accident form on their online portal, I uploaded 45 supporting documents, including chart notes, hospital admission records, and X-rays--exceeding the documentation requested. However, the online portal showed no updates over the next 10 business days. When I called on the 10th day, a representative informed me that additional information was needed, and a letter would be sent. I asked her to clarify the specific information required, and she claimed they had not received the online accident form. I resubmitted the form on October 29, the same day as this call. It's crazy because to start a claim online you must fill out said accident form online but they are claiming sometimes the "information doesn't transfer over". After another 10 business days without an update, I called again on November 12. This time, I was told I'd need to wait until the end of the day because the claim was still under review due to that same "missing" document--which I had already resubmitted 10 days prior. This stalling tactic seems aimed at prolonging the process and avoiding payout. I'm currently on hold, waiting for a supervisor. I will be requesting that my company explore alternative insurance providers. I have a valid claim here, but Voya appears to be avoiding payment. Day 11 of the 2nd submittal and still no update on the online portal. Currently on hold again wasting more of my time because they will not do their job. This is the most fraudulent company I've ever had to deal with. According to online reviews everyone is having the same issue. They refuse to pay out legitimate claims you have to argue with them and threaten lawyers before they do what they are suppose to. For those considering Voya, please be aware: they may delay and hinder the claims process when you need them most, though they are diligent about taking payroll deductions. read more
