I brought the whole family - space was great for our kids to roam around, play games like connect 4, cornhole, golden tee, etc - all the kids smashed their food orders. I came back here in February had the absolute worst experience reached out privately to the company and they have not ever responded back to me. They were understaffed on a Friday night and had no table service but you had to place your order at the bar. Well the first time I placed an order at the bar it took over 20 minutes of standing and waiting. Everyone sitting at the bar got priority even if they just sat down and the bar tenders had noticed me waiting. At the end of the night my elderly mother was standing at the place of the bar to take orders wanting to close out our check. The one woman bar tender took someone else who came up afterwards and then left leaving my mother to stand there for more time. After my mother expressed she just wanted to close our tab she was rudely told she just has to wait her turn. I eventually came to my mom asking what is taking so long. When the woman finally came over my mother repeated again she just wanted to close out our tab. She rolled her eyes and handed us the bill, my mom then mentioned she had been standing there for a really long time which was enough to set off the woman. She then started yelling at us that she knows how to do her job and doesn't need to be told how to do it by someone else then told us we paid and to "Get OUT!!". I'm sorry I run a business and have supported many local businesses and I have never in my life experienced or treated customers that way, even when I wanted to. At this point I was not standing for this attitude and called over what looked like the bar lead over to discuss this disgusting behavior. While talking to the lead/manager about the situation it was hard to get a word in edgewise since the barmaid that was able to ignore us standing around for 20+ minutes kept coming over to continue yelling and getting more and more irritated. Probably because her little power trip of trying to embarrass us to get the hell out didn't work and now her behavior was being discussed. I run a local bookclub that has brought in large groups of people multiple times on dead nights into VooDoo. If this is how anyone is allowed to be treated I will not subject my members to such treatment. We were not offered a refund and they charged us full price while we were there during Happy Hour as well. There are too many breweries in a rock throw if this place and other places that treat me well that I don't need to go back. If you want a better recommendation go to Black Flamingo. This could have been a different outcome if one employee who should not be in any form of customer service or working with the public had simply said "sorry we are crazy tonight, training a new hire and busier than usual I'll be back as soon as I can" or "Hey, where are you sitting? I don't know how long I will be since it's crazy busy I'll come to you when I'm available" would have changed the whole situation completely. read more

I use to absolutely love Voodoo but lately things are getting sloppy. The poor guy who opened the shop today at lunch found all the trash and leftover messes facing him from the night before. The crew last night just left the place a mess. Dirty bowls and beer glasses not picked up sitting on dirty and sticky counters. This isn't the way to run a food and drink business. I've noticed that even the clean beer tumblers aren't that clean any more. You can see lip prints on the rim of the glass. We returned a glass of beer because of lip prints and finger prints. Do the franchise owners realize what is happening and do they realize there are three other micro breweries a block away? I don't have to patronize this spot. I can recommend the Shaved Brussel Sprout Cesar salad. It was delicious and filling. I had a Hop Life Nut House Porter with my salad. It was nice and cold. The food is fairly good overall. I hope Voodoo can take corrective action on the lazy employees or I'll be visiting Black Flamingo more often. read more

My husband and I saw the bright, colorful lights along Dixie Highway and we decided to stop in and check Voodoo Brewing out. There is a long bar, some high tops, and lots more colorful decor inside. It was almost last call on a Friday night; but we had time for 1 beer. The beers had all kinds of interesting sounding names like "Wynona's Big Brown Ale," "Empty Calories," "Oh Mama," and "Where Our Secrets Go." I decided to try a "Crick Crusher" which was a golden ale that was " brewed for days on the water, nights by the fire, and every moment in between." it was very crisp, cold, refreshing. My husband ordered the. "Where Our Secrets Go." It was an imperial stout and he said it was good. The bartender was very friendly and gave us some background information on some of the unique beer names. It was $22 for 2 beers; a little pricey, but they were craft beers and they were good. Luckily my husband noticed the next day that he had been billed twice on his AMEX card; one charge for $22 and another one for over $40 He called that afternoon and spoke to someone and they said they would take care of it with no problem. Not sure if this ihsppened because it was the end of the night but next time I will pay close attention to my check, and probably pay with cash. read more

We ordered a flight with the raspberry, blueberry, key lime, and cider, and everything was good, but the raspberry was definitely the standout -- very flavorful and refreshing without being too sweet. We ordered the pork nachos. They sat on the kitchen counter waiting for a staff member to deliver them so when we finally got them they were cold. They had good flavor even though they were cold. Waited almost two years for this highly anticipated craft beer joint to open. In the middle of the day it was dead and got free easy parking in front of the business. An eight foot tall blue gorilla protects the entrance which allows a great picture opportunity. The art pieces were immediately noticeable throughout, which were purchased from the art gallery next door. Voodoo Brewing brews almost all their offered beers creations with a select few beers on Guest Taps. The bar was huge and took a seat directly in the center and met the bartender who explained some of his recommended brews. Chose the Sour which was excellent. Got the five Samosas Indian Street Snacks with a mint cilantro and tangy chutney sauces which were delicious and complemented the cold Lacto-Kooler Berliner Weisse Sour 5.5% brew. Voodoo also offers a full liquor bar with a home brewed American Whiskey and Vodka. Happy Hour 4pm - 6pm for $2 off all craft beer and $4 off cocktails. Visited Voodoo Brewing on a Friday night since I was in the mood for a beer and a burger. First off, plenty of parking which is always a big plus. The entrance is super cool with a giant gorilla statue and nice lighting that sets the vibe before you even walk in. Inside, the place has a huge open area with scattered high-top tables and the bar right in the middle. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty for a Friday night, but since I was solo, I grabbed a seat at the bar. I was greeted right away and I believe Emily was my server, she was very friendly and helpful with both the beer and food menu. I sampled two beers per her recommendation and ended up going with the Oh Mama (a golden lager). It was crisp, cold, and really good. For food, I tried the Good Vibes Bacon Blue Burger (hickory smoked bacon, blue cheese crumbles, signature patty topped with Good Vibes BBQ sauce). The burger was excellent. juicy, flavorful, and came with chips on the side. Overall, it's a really fun spot with great beer and food. My only knock is that I found it a bit overpriced for what it is, otherwise I'd have given it five stars. Still, I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area! read more

Great for groups and watching sports, this brewery has joined a few others in downtown Oakland Park and makes not only beers, but liquor too. Try have a craft kitchen and are known for their pizzas. The truffle fries were a nice fun snack with a tasty dip. Every time before I have been there, I have had hard cider. They have live music on Fridays. On this most recent visit, I had a pineapple mojito with house made rum. Within my group of about 20 people, several people ordered food- a giant pretzel, samosas, sliders, and pizzas. Food ambience and service are all terrific. 5 star ambience: Oakland Park has been pretty successful with making this area a semi walkable city center. Food was great, but drinks and service were mediocre. We walked in and saw all the cool art and there was a good amount of people for a Saturday afternoon. We sat at the bar as we usually do so we can engage with the bartenders but honestly, they were not really engaging at all. They just greeted us, gave us menus, and came back so we can put in our orders. No recommendations, no asking if it's our first time, nothing. I will say, food is really good: we got the Voo-dill Pizza plus chicken and the Stouts Brussel Sprouts. It was a huge bowl of sprouts, can't complain about it. Drinks on the other hand, were okay. I don't even remember what I ordered, but I did wish the menu prized smaller ounces. I say that because I noticed other customers had smaller beers. I know the smaller glasses are for flights but it's good to know they do offer small glasses if you don't want to commit to a whole pint. Had the bartenders been friendlier, they could've explained it. It was ridiculously cold. I was afraid I was going to get sick. Bring a jacket if you decide to come. Overall, this place was mid. Voodoo is now my go-to spot for salads, the most delicious brussel sprouts, and tasty cocktails for a good price. Their steak salad with the french fries on it and cajun ranch dressing is so satisfying, accompanied with the flash fried balsamic sprouts with the sauce they put on top (I'm salivating just describing these). All of the cocktails I've tried so far are great and the space inside is nice, open, and chill. What more could a person ask for? The prices are doable and they also have a good happy hour. Everyone seems nice here as well; as far as Servers/Bartenders go. I used to be a Funky Buddha girl, but I've since switched to Voodoo. Give it a shot, or many shots. It's worth it! read more

This was such a great find! We live in Oakland Park and frequent this area a lot. We initially were going to another location in the area to watch a hockey game, but it was crazy packed so we remembered that voodoo said they showed games too! We went there and sure enough they did. Food and drinks were great and the owner was so kind! He told us about some upcoming specials. The prices are very fair for downtown Oakland Park. The food was also very good. We had fried pickles (the first time I've ever liked them, tbh,) a burger, a pizza. The martinis were as ordered, too! This is excellent value. The place is cute; there's cornhole and a few video & board games. We went on trivia night. It's fun. The woman who runs trivia has the right personality, but not the computer skills or volume control one should have. In addition, she was way too slow. We left early as it simply dragged on and on too long. The wait time between questions was at least five minutes. She needs a better way to keep score. The ding on the 5th star was because one person was taking orders, making drinks, running food and taking payment. The conditions made it impossible for her to meet anyone's expectations. If we had ordered our next drink upon delivery of the new drink it may have gone better, but that's a terrible constraint on a guest. I think the bar income was there if they had another person. Big miss. I also don't like that they allow babies/children in there. It's a bizarre environment to have a kid's birthday, but there we were. It was the strangest thing we ever saw! read more
