I purchased a bottle of Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese dressing on or around June 25, 2025. Opened it tonight and thought the taste was off. Looked at the expiration date and it expired on February 14, 2025. This is not the first time that I've found items with out of code dates and brought to the cashier. I've even brought them home only to have to go return them. I will be contacting corporate but my advice to customers is check every single expiration date on things you are purchasing. read more

I have lived here in Moorpark for ten years and when school kids need lunch, Vons has always given them lunch boxes that consist of three chicken strips and fries for five bucks. Today I went to get my grandson (Moorpark High) a lunch deal and the deli manager told me his boss Tom Larson told him to just give two strips one small and one regular and five potato wedges. Now $6.99. This is not right and if you do not want the high school/ elementary school to no longer do business with Vons, just say so. There are many options available with five dollar lunch deals. I'm upset that without notice, you instructed your employees to just short serve the kids. I'm aware that it's a tough economic environment but taking it out on the kids is bad form. This location has gotten so much better over the years, in terms of keeping the lines down and making it feel More inviting. I love coming in early for the freshly baked bagels. This is the closest grocery store next to many homes in the area, it is a convenient option. Unfortunately, the shopping experience here is a clear sign that the business is fading. Despite being a nice neighborhood, the store is dirty, understaffed and poorly maintained. There is zero cell phone reception in this store and no functioning WiFi. The staff is aware and hasn't made any fixes for over a year. The inventory is always low for popular items like eggs, milk, cheese and bread. Apathetic employees and poor inventory can be common these days. The biggest reason why I stopped shopping at this Vons is the cost. Their prices are ridiculous. We have been coming to this Vons for the past nine years. We usually purchase items in the deli when we shop there. Over the past year, the deli service has been terrible. Last night (7/15/25) my wife and I went to the deli counter to try and order some salads and chicken. The male worker there, was in another area shouting "i'll be there in a minute." This worker appeared to me moving or washing dishes in the bakery area. We waited for over five minutes and again the male worker stated he would be over to help us in a minute. WOW, this is how they treat customers and when my wife voiced her concern to the female bakery employee she said the male employee was trying to make more chicken. We call BS on this, as it was 645 and have been told in the past that Vons doesn't make chicken past this hour. This store has gone down the last few years, and their customer service is poor. WE WILL NEVER COME BACK TO VONS AND WILL TRAVEL A LITTLE BIT FARTHER TO THE RALPH'S ON LA. FIRST RESPONDER'S BROTHERS AND SISTERS STAY AWAY FROM VONS. I have shopped at this store for 22 years. I have never felt the need to write a review but last week I had a terrible interaction with the checker which is stupidly still on my mind so many days later. I ran in to purchase two items, one of which is locked in a case at the front of the store so you must ask for the checker to get it for you so I did. Nicely because I'm not a rude person. The checker asked another employee to grab "whatever it is that lady wants" while shooing me away with her hand. RUDE. I said to the other employee the name of the item followed by "that's whatever I want." I asked the checker if she was having a bad day or if that's an acceptable way to treat customers and she just rolled her eyes and handed me my receipt. Von's isn't the only store in town. I find it more expensive than Ralph's. I don't mind driving to Simi to enjoy their variety of grocery stores with better prices and less rude employees. read more

Bought tri-tip and shrimp from the meat dept.. Tri-tip was 1/3 fat and upon cutting it, discovered nasty tumors!! The shrimp smelt strongly of fish. Took one bite and spit it out immediately. Absolutely disgusting. Ended up eating just salad for dinner. Upon returning the 2 items, the employee told us "we apologize" and "look forward to seeing you next time". Vons ruined the dinner I bought for myself and my family, wasted my time + gas there and back, then thinks I'm coming back!? Ripping customers off be selling meat per pound that's overloaded with fat shows their true ethical standards. Attached are the disgusting pictures of what they sold me. During these very uncertain times, economic and otherwise. During this pandemic, our local Von's has succumbed to greed, increasing their prices in many items. I have seen an increase in regular items that I just purchased last week. When people are struggling to make ends meet and pay bills, our local Von's had the cold heart of increasing grocery prices! Convenience of a nearby store is enticing, but not when they have done such a thing. I will try to avoid shopping here and as a community, we all should. I am very disheartened at this. Worst service ever. I ordered delivery with a two hour window and at the 3 hr mark I called to find where my delivery was. The person I spoke to wasn't apologetic or concerned just said I'll have them call you, no one ever did. I called at the 4 hr mark and they said oh they are working on it, again no apologies no concern they didn't care. I cancelled my order. I was very much a fan of Vons, ever since this complex was built in Moorpark, CA. Even today, it still stands (not like it is a historical place of anything); however, it is use to be and probably still is, a hangout for high school bums. Yes, this store was where one could buy all their crap without having to go to downtown Moorpark's Ralph's, Albertson's, Hughes, whatever the hell else they changed it to. Oh and they have the MOST delicious bagels! I remember when they would have morning sales on those, my favorite was the Everything on it and Jalapeno. I think they had like 8 varieties. This is a good store its clean and the staff is friendly its near the high school so all the kids get Starbucks and lunch here. They do have a great floral section. The deli is pretty expansive the produce is fresh, the sandwich's are pricy put good and have a good amount of ingredients As with all Von's, they are not the cheapest which is strange since Safeway own Von's when we used to live in the San Francisco bay area and up there Safeway was reasonable priced. good back up store after Ralph's and Albertson's or if your in need of a coffee fix while shopping for dinner read more

Let me start by saying that I was having a bad day before I came to this location. Had a bad round of golf in morning and just couldn't get the job done. After such a horrendous showing on the course, I was a little hungry and stopped to get a chicken avocado bacon sandwich. The employee who I had the honor of making my sandwich was a kind and gentle man named Ronnie. He made my sandwich with such delicacy and knew just the right amount of ingredients to lay upon my sandwich. Even though we only had a 10 minute interaction, I felt like he made my sandwich with such love that a mother would be jealous of. Been shopping there since they opened the store. But tonight my husband had to walk through a large group of unmasked young people inside the grocery when he was trying to leave. We've both been vaxxed and boosted, and always masked, but as an immunocompromised person, I now have to quarantine from my husband in our own home. And when I contacted the store, I was informed that although California has a mask mandate, and Covid cases everywhere including Ventura County are in an extreme surge, VON'S HAS A POLICY that they are not allowed to enforce masking. Wearing masks, and wearing them correctly, is for our safety, AND theirs, and a policy like this is irresponsible and could end up killing people. Like me. Or your produce person. Or your cashier. Or my grandchildren. Why this is a corporate policy is beyond my imagination, but I guess it's been a nice 20 years, and we will have to do our shopping somewhere that actually cares if their customers and their families are safe and heard. He took time with us to arrange several arrangements, made suggestions, and delivered OUTSTANDING centerpieces and arrangements for our mom. Adam, we cannot thank you enough for everything you did for us. Management needs to know that they are lucky to have such a conscientious and courteous employee. I wish I could give less than 1 star. The staff at this location- specifically the deli counter staff and the checkout staff are SO SLOW. A few weeks ago I waited at the deli counter and stood there for 5 minutes while your staff had a conversation with each other. A few minutes into their conversation I tried to interrupt to ask for help and they said "hold on" and continued their personal conversation about their weekend. When I finally got help, the man started to help me and then walked away. When another woman came up I asked where he went and he came back and said "oh sorry, I'm multitasking." Really? The Ralph's in moorpark is out of our way and we still use it every time. On the rare occasion we're forced into vons it is always the same - 20 mins to checkout. Even if you live exactly next door to vons, save yourself time (and money, the same products are without exception always cheaper) and go over to Ralph's. Vons' "3s a crowd" campaign didn't stick - my husband just spent 20 mins in the store and only got three items, said there were at least 8 people per line. read more

This is seriously the worst Von's ever. Unfortunately, it is walking distance from my house and has the closest Starbucks to me so either I have to go deal with it every morning or go completely out of my way to a different store. EVERY morning the "fresh" bagels either: A) aren't ready yet B) are still the same bagels from the day before Or C) are out of the oven and just sitting in the back on the warming tray The lines are ridiculous. They have that "3 is a crowd" rule that no one follows. Management does not give a crap about reasonable complaints I get there around 6:30 every morning. There is constantly a line of Von's employees just standing around at Starbucks. The employees smoke right in front of the building and throw their cigarette butts on the ground. Overall this Von's is a constant test of my patience and while they do have some excellent employees, the majority are seriously lazy and basically spend their days figuring out how to do as little work as possible. UPDATE:: I'm officially done with this Von's. I will never go back. This morning I arrived to get my morning bagel only find out the bakery was empty because (as usual)someone was late or just didn't show up. These employees have ZERO accountability. It's really quite sad and I just can't do it anymore UPDATE: I haven't been back to this Von's since my last review. I can see the reason for only two stars for this Vons market. The store is very enclosed with no windows and depressing. It is the equivalent of a discount grocery store. The local Smart and final looks better and has the same quality produce. The deli is sad. The meats do not seem to be high quality. Had get my deli meats somewhere else. Half the reason most people walk in to this market is to get a drink from Starbucks. I have seen upgraded Pavilions market in low income neighborhoods so why is it that we are left with the worst of the worst Vons has to offer? Always understaffed and long lines, never have I seen this Vons adapt to the customer bases or update its check out stations to feature some self service checkouts. This would be tremendously helpful to the individual buying 1-3 items and having to stand in the express lane where people are checking out 30+ items when it clearly says 15 items or less read more

Our neighborhood Vons. What do you expect from a supermarket? It's a Vons... a cozy one with a Starbucks inside. All the employees are very friendly and try to remember you whenever you come through. It loses a star because it doesn't have much of an Organic selection, and there are consistently long checkout lines. read more
