When I am in the area visiting family in Escondido I try to stop here for gas before going home and I like that it is easier than trying to wait in the Costco gas line so it is normally quicker. Over the last several months each time I've gone in either the chip reader doesn't work. You have to go inside. They run it as a credit card they make you pay the card price instead of the cash price... Today the buttons kept blinking and wouldn't let me choose, which kind of fuel I wanted to use then I moved forward and the next pump didn't have the chip reader enabled so it's just a big cluster fuck. Vons Fuel Station - Climbing costs - Gas Stations Near Me - Escondido, California

This is the best fuel option in Escondido for consistently cheap gas. Plenty of pumps too, 14 in all. This location is easier to navigate than the PB Vons gas, because you can't drive through the lanes at that one to get to empty forward pumps. The downside to this one is a little bit of difficulty accessing the left outside pumps when the tanker is there delivering. They also seem to close fairly frequently for testing. The price is comparable or sometimes even less than Costco, and shorter lines most of the time. With the Vons gas discount, it saves you even more. It's super empty really late at night, if you're paying by credit card. The store is closed that late, so no cash. read more

It's a gas station, is it really a 4 star experience? No, of course not! However this place almost always has THE lowest prices on fuel, they are normally the same or lower than Costco in San Marcos... plus they are on the way home for me from work which is a big plus! The Pros: Long Pump hoses people! You can pump fuel from either side of your vehicle.... and while the lines "can" tend to be long here, they move along rather quickly, 14 pumps thats a decent amount. Again long pump hoses, which leads me to the cons... The Cons: I don't think that people are aware of the LONG PUMP HOSES!!! I have had a lot of issues with the card reader here, I thought that it was my atm card so I ordered a new one and tend to have the same problem, however if I am patient with the pump it seems to work a bit better. I have noticed more and more that there is a pump coned off, but normally it seems to be just one out of the 14 so, not bad! The are of the parking lot with the gas tends to be a mess and can flow out on to the street at times. This is probably one of the best places to get gas in Escondido because the prices are reasonable, and it does not take forever like the lines at Costco. Don't get me wrong, this is a popular place to get gas. So, there can be a little bit of a line. SLOW BUT CLEAN The pumps are not really that fast, but the prices are better than most around. The staff is pretty nice inside the little store and they are efficient. The store was clean inside, as was the outside. Even though I did not see any bathrooms, it looked like the trash by the pumps was recently taken out...in the middle of the day?! Good Job! POINTS? When you use your phone number associated with your VONS club card, you might get points. However, I don't think anyone really knows how the points at VONS works, but there has to be some reason for putting your phone number in at the pump. LOCATION I go here when I'm getting off the freeway on my way home from work. When traveling North on the 15, you can easily exit at Center City Pkwy, and you will see it on your right, just before Felicita Pkwy. My go to gas station as it is on the way home (convenience), but generally has the lowest prices and can even be lower than Costco on occasion. Plus if you shop at Vons you can earn a discount at the pump. I really like the fact that they have long hoses and you can fill up on either side; however, lots of people don't seem to notice that and the lines tend to be long. The lines although long almost every time I fill up, do move pretty fast. I rarely go into the little store, but when I have the employees have been nice. The location in the parking lot is terrible and people often don't leave enough space to drive through the driveway, but there are a few different exits. The fours stars are for the price and the long pumps... I almost gave it a 3 due to poor planning on the layout of the driveway to gas pump, but it's more the people who cause most of the problems. read more

Cheapest gas in the area. Additionally, it's easy to get in and out of and usually has MUCH shorter lines (or often NO lines) than some other popular membership driven 'cheap gas' stations. There is a 10¢/gal discount for using cash - and at this station debit cards are counted as cash (just make sure you select debit/enter your pin instead of credit in the menu). Using your Vons Club card will get you an additional discount - at least 3¢ off , but the discount increases based on whether you have any "gas rewards" stored on your account. I don't know precisely how this reward system works, but I assume it's from shopping at Vons - which I don't really do too often (usually $40 or under a few times a month) and I still somehow always seem to have a 10¢ to 20¢/gal discount waiting for me. The base (cash) prices are already the lowest in town, and it's a fun little gamble to find out how much more you'll be getting off. I also love that you don't have to swipe your membership card (lost that thing 10 years ago) to receive the discount, and are given the option to type in your phone # instead. There is a small convenience store in the center island, but it's very limited - which is good because we don't want too many shoppers clogging up our gas aisles, right? There's a full-sized Vons on the other side of the parking lot for that. It's an easy stop from the 15 if you exit Felicita (going Southbound) or Center City (if you're heading north) and has all the other 'quick stop on the way home' stores near by making the stop even more worthwhile if you have a couple different errands to run. read more

Been here a few times by chance as gas was extremely cheap. You really can't compete with the prices but I can't justify the wait. Some people wait for 20-30 minutes it's almost as bad as Costco. I AM a fan. I am a fan of low prices. This is why I like the gas station at Vons. They do have extremely decent prices on gas. It's like going to Costco, but can be even better if you stack earned discounts on top of the already low price. If you shop at Vons, you get gas rewards... spend enough, you can earn a whole dollar off per gallon, which is pretty good. Of course, I don't buy enough groceries for that, but whatever. The big bummer is that they did away with their 3 cents off per gallon every day promotion that has been there for YEARS. I think it kind of sucks, but then when I think harder and pull out my calculator, I realize that 18 gallons multiplied by 3 cents is a WHOPPING 54 cents. I guess it's not a huge deal. The prices are good, but be prepared. You WILL wait in line. The line will suck. You might even start out your wait on the street. You will have to suck it up and listen to something good on the radio, because this is getting gas at Vons. And, don't cut in front of people because if you do that, you suck, too. The extra .3c off is a nice plus, but truthfully, sometimes it is just not enough of an incentive to convince me to deal with the insane amount of traffic at this gas station. There are a couple of stations within a couple blocks who are at the same price as Vons once you apply the discount. Today we almost got hit twice, people were honking, 2 women were fighting, and the man at the pump in front of us was taking FOREVER, because he was too busy picking his nose to push the proper buttons and start fueling. (We took pictures, of course) Bottom line-if they bring back their former .10c off promotion, this will be my only gas station, but until that happens we'll only be stopping here on the rare days we drive by (before 5am) and there are little or no cars. Yes, that was what we paid with the discount as loyal VONS shoppers. Well, it provided gas, and that earns it the whole 2 stars. Other than that, it is VERY poorly laid out. When the lines are long (and they usually are), the cars back into the main shopping center entrance and exit, blocking traffic. The machines process VERY slowly. I went to get gas at the Von's gas station and I put the pump on automatic and it did not shut off! So it overflowed out of my gas tank! I go to pull it out and it spilled all over me and on my face! I asked a fellow customer to call the cashier because I've never done this before and wasn't sure if there was a procedure. The guy comes out and looks more annoyed and said to put the pump handle away and that I needed to move my car so he can clean the area. I told him I got gas in my eyes and all he said was to grab some paper towels as he walked back in the store. I luckily had some wipes in my car because how are dry paper towels going to clean gas out of my eyes?! He comes back out and tries to hand me dry paper towels but my eyes were stinging and I was so annoyed that I just looked at him. I asked what I should do about the extra gas coming out of my car and he just scoffed at me like I'm an idiot (sorry dude that I'm not an expert with cars...) He said, that's what happens when you over fill your car. I explained I didn't do it on purpose, that I had it set and it didn't stop like it normally does. I thought if I explained this that maybe there was something wrong with the pump so that it won't happen to someone else. He scoffed at me again, and by this time with my eyes burning I was getting really pissed off because this guy was not helpful or sympathetic, he just wanted me out of the way so he could probably get back to whatever he was doing. I got in my car and just stared in disbelief that this guy acted that way. He laughed at me again and asked if I was going to move. I shook my head and was getting in my car, then I thought I better ask his name. He gave me his name jokingly and I shook my head again, called him a prick under my breath, and got in my car. My eyes kept burning and I was tempted to drive over to the grocery store and talk to the manager in person but I wanted to get home and wash my eyes out. I had to drive home with the windows down because I spilled so much gas on myself. Guys name was Kurt G. I don't know if that's really his name but he wore an orange and black bandanna on his face. Called the manager after I washed my eyes, but he said I should call tomorrow for 2 other managers. I ALWAYS feed my dependence on foreign oil here when I'm in North County. It is consistently cheaper than Arco and any other gas station in the area AND you get a three cent per gallon discount when you use your Vons Card. They don't ding you for using your credit/ debit card. I hate that there's two prices nowadays, one for cash and one for credit. At least Vons doesn't try to screw you out of more money. This place has obscenely long lines at all hours of the day just to get the gas. It also has the slowest pay-point machine (it processes my zip code and accepts my card in the time I could've eaten a sandwich) and I just want to bash it in. But I still come back to this station a lot. Aside from having low gas costs, you can get an added $0.03 off by using your Von's Club card. It does not sound like much, but it adds up. This place is a hit or miss for the long lines. The price is pretty decent, cash is 10 cents cheaper than paying with credit card.. so opt for cash.. unless you have one of those cards that gives you a million percent cash back on gas or something. Although I don't live close to this particular gas station, I highly recommend it to anyone living in inland north county San Diego. They generally have some of the lowest priced fuel anywhere! The hoses are long enough to reach to either side of most vehicles so you don't always have to line up on the side where your gas tank is located. That's always a good thing since you could get stuck behind multiple SUV's gassing up and they tend to take longer than an average sized passenger vehicle. Also important to know is that you pay the same price for cash or credit. Lastly, if you regularly shop at Vons, accumulate your points because they offer discounts for gas. Cheapest gas I know of. Maybe there is a hole-in-the-wall gas station that sells watered down gas for less, but I wouldn't put that in my car. There is almost always a line, but it moves quickly. The hoses are extra long and reach both sides of the car so pick the shorter line even if the pump is on the opposite side as your gas tank. There is a "10¢/gal" discount for cash. Really this is Vons way of charging credit cards more because Visa does not allow merchants to charge more for credit cards. I have always dislikes using my debt card because if it is stolen banks will literally take months to get your your money back because it is your money. Not theirs. Credit card companies will reverse charges in one short phone call. Using your Vons Club card NO longer gives a standard 3¢ discount. However if you shop at Vons you can earn gas discounts. I usually shop at Trader Joes and Costco so I rarely get discounts. I stopped typing in my number because it's an added delay. read more
