My experience with this bank has been great the beginning but has got really bad recently.... This rep Francis horrible customer service. Jose and Evelyn was super helpful. I am still extremely upset with the bank in general because they keep linking my account with a scam and money keeps getting taken out, every day this week. Unfortunately, my experience with a representative named Katey Campbell was deeply disappointing. She spoke to me in a condescending manner that made me feel disrespected and devalued. I don't recommend to leave your money at this credit union. My partner has been a member for a long time and his business is not valued. We went to apply for a car loan and had a terrible experience. We applied and got approved and they were supposed to help us find the car. We never heard back from them. We kept calling and leaving voicemails and nothing! Finally we got a hold of someone but he said he would have to reapply since we were coming up on 30 days. We needed a car right away as we were currently sharing a car. Reluctantly we went back to reapply only this time we would go find a car right away. We got approved again and found a car we wanted. When I sent the order to the loan officer she let me know that since we bought an older model they wouldn't be able to finance us after all. It was not explained that if we bought an older model even though it's new with only 40 miles they would price it as a used car and what we paid for it didn't match the value they had it at. I asked to speak to someone about this and was told that they would send my info to management and I'm sure I won't hear back. read more

Received my new debit card since they finally got around to adding tap. Tried to activate it and recording told me I need to contact my lending institution. Called card services, they apologized and "activated" my card over the phone. Tried to use it at a gas station, declined. Tried to add it to Apple Pay, phone said to call my bank to verify. This bullshit is the reason I have multiple bank accounts so I can have access to my $$. If you can't handle something basic like a card activation, I can't trust you with my money. What I love about this place are the people and their level of attention to their clients. They make we feel welcome from the start with a bank guard that always have a smile and positive energy to greet you and hod the door open. Every time I visit, there are at least 3 window tellers open. If there is a long line, you will see more windows open and people behind their desks are up and about directing traffic. Overall, they emit an "old country bank" feeling and a sense of security and family. read more

My husband and I visited this branch on 4/26 and where helped by Lorena. She made our day since we were traveling in LA and looking for a shared branch to get quarter rolls for meters for our next trip to Little Tokyo. We where not sure if this branch did share branching since it was not in our Patelco site as a shared branch location. She not only confirmed we could process our transaction, she provided us great service with a smile. My husband and I have been in the banking industry for many yrs and she exceeded our expectations. They have been great to me over the years, but now what really makes me want to stay with this Credit Union for another 25 years is how they took care of me and my family during this pandemic. This past year I've been wanting to get a new car. And after several months of being indecisive, I was unfortunately coerced into the prospect when I got into an accident with my current vehicle. 10 years ago, I financed my Nissan Frontier with Vons Credit Union so I thought it only natural to do the same this time around. I went to the branch in El Monte and met with Tina Ramirez to work out the details of the loan. Once it was approved, she connected me with Matt Fong who went right to work at searching for cars that were in my price range and specifications. Both of them were incredibly helpful. And when Matt found the car I wanted, I immediately jumped on it. He arranged to have the car delivered to the branch and the following day I went in to pick it. All the paperwork was laid out for me and I drove off with my Subaru Outback that same day. The whole process was incredibly simple and I appreciate the work that Matt did in finding the vehicle for me. Once again, I would like to emphasize the whole car buying process was super easy. No haggling with dealers. No going to multiple dealerships to find the best pricing. Autoexpert has the best pricing. Just save yourself the time even thinking about VECU. Go to Mission Federal instead. I bank at both and just dont know why I havent closed my account there. Mission Federal offers so much more. I lost a debit card with Mission Fed. --They printed a new one at the branch and were apologetic for my circumstances. Done in 15 min. Debit card stolen with VECU. --They said they were sorry and told me there was a six dollar replacement fee. The small gestures add up folks. read more

If you have zero dealings with their customer service, you're in luck... Otherwise... terrible terrible terrible customer service. First, they closed my Credit Card with no notice. Apparently they believed that there was suspicious activity using my card, so they decided to close out the card. Didn't call me. Didn't send me a letter. Nothing. So, I'm at a store looking like a moron swiping my declined card. DO NOT refinance your car with them. Sure the interest rate is awesome, but when you have to deal with these people, it's not worth it. Their website sucks, so it's almost impossible to try to make payments. You have to make payments over the phone, and when you do, be prepared to pay a $15 charge. Their customer service is the worst, when you can actually get a hold of someone. Their finance department (in particular "Elias") is hands down the worst I've ever experienced. They'll harass you if your car payment is 3 days late. But when you get a chance to call them back to make the payment, they don't answer. It's a game of phone tag with them. Stay away. This is a poor excuse for a reputable credit union. read more
