Pros: This Vons has a great Vegetarian/Organic section. I appreciate the wide variety this market has to offer, and enjoy taking my time though the various isles. This is my neighborhood Vons, and one of my favorite go-to stores when I am in a hurry. The only reason I ever shop at this store is that it is the 2nd closest grocery store to my house - the other is Super King, and I've already posted a review of why I won't shop there. All of my issues with this store come down to very poor management. 1. I always have to dodge someone outside asking for money, whether they are homeless, collecting for charity, or selling something. My pre-teen daughter has been scared for her safety several times. 2. The fruit is horrible. It's either too hard, too soft, bruised, or starting to rot. To be fair, many of the big stores have the same problem. None of them care about the quality of their fruit or seem to take any pride in it. 3. Quite often there are not enough cashiers, and it's not unusual for there to be very long lines. 4. On one occasion while waiting to pay for my groceries the cashier carried on a very long conversation with the customer in front of me even after he had paid. When I complained, the cashier told me that the manager of the store says they cannot interrupt customers and if a customer wants to have a conversation they must engage, even if there is a long line waiting. read more

I'm sure everyone has their 'go to' store for all their grocery needs. I think this one is going to be mine from now on. Their store is clean and organized, the people are polite and friendly, they have very nice sales and the store itself is in a convenient location. What more could you ask from a grocery store? I went in today and was out again in 15 minutes. It might be because it was the middle of the day on a Thursday but I had no lines to worry about, no crowds to bump into and no displays in disarray. Spacious, a Starbucks inside and plenty of parking. First time here, had to make a quick bagel and cream cheese run for the co-workers. Parking was a-plenty especially at 6 o'clock in the morning. Store is pretty clean inside, i'd be surprised if it wasn't, I was the only customer there! Can't expect me, myself and Irene to make a mess...Anyway. Lot's of employees stocking shelves, so when I looked confused about the layout of the store, none of them hesitated to come up and ask if I needed finding something. Didn't have too much time to look around, but saw they had some items, i haven't been able to find at other grocery stores near me. I will be shopping here frequently since I work close by, but make the mistake of coming here early morning? Never again. Walked out with bagel, cream cheese and other lovely items. Ok! Von's has made some serious improvements & I'm really liking their changes. *Deli is the bomb - they make the BEST party platters! *Bakery is AMAZING - with the help of their pastry chef, I created the most beautiful custom cake for my son's birthday! *Produce is on point - especially their organic section! The new baskets they have are like driving a fricking Tesla down the aisles ... they have built in cupholders! Love the managers there -- Irene is wonderful. Most of the checkers are super great, friendly & kind. So, now can you guys PLEASE manage the bathroom!?! That's why you got only 4 stars. The women's restroom is beyond disgusting: stinky, the soap dispenser was ripped off the wall & sitting on the changing table; no seat covers, no paper towels & NO TOILET PAPER!?! (thank goodness I'm a mom who has kleenex in her purse!) Come on. I flagged down an attendant and she seemed totally perplexed by my request to have her tend to the restroom as my hands dripped water all over the place. Lines still long & that still needs to be worked out ... would love to see a self-check out at this store! read more

Went to Trader Joe's first and had a TJ bag full of groceries from theirs. I went to Vons to complete my grocery shopping; and needed to go to the restroom. I went in the back; with one item in my hands that I put on top of the trash can outside the bathroom before I tried the bathroom door. It was locked. I turned and saw a guy with a mic; i asked him what the code for the bathroom was. He told me I couldn't go in with a reusable bag. I told him and showed him the items - all from Trader Joe's and even grabbed back the item I had put on top of the trash can, telling him that's what I was going to buy and I was going to leave it outside the bathroom while going in. His answer ? "You can't go in with a reusable bag". I walked past him; told him the way he had treated me was unacceptable; I placed the item back on the shelf and I walked out. Total bullshit. The guy I am referring to looked like the manager too. read more

So far this is my favorite Vons and it's next door to Trader Joes so that is a BIG plus. They have great produce selections and I like the fact they have a specialty organic aisle...some labels that TJ'S carry. I have gone twice this week...Thanksgiving week and I literally walked out of there with my ususal amount of groceries and spent $132! They were having a great sale on many items I needed and THAT is a big deal. The staff seem to be pleasant and helpful. I have yet to experience their Bakery, Deli, and Seafood dept. read more

Just stopped in here to look for something for dinner. Found out their entire meat section is wiped out......gone! Manager said they had a refrigeration issue, guess they had to throw everything out.......spoilage! It may not be a Pavillions but as far as Von's go, this one is best. Very responsive, orders items I ask for and the cashiers go the distance to make my shopping experience rewarding. Most know me by name but hey, I'm a friendly girl. It's a lot cleaner than Reseda/Nordhoff and seems to have a more natural/ organic selection than Topanga/Roscoe. Organic items I buy at my Chatsworth store aren't even carried at the other locations. All in all, I've mostly switched from Ralph's (the Chatsworth one's a dump)although the Porter Ranch Ralph's carries some key items that I love, like Nancy's low carb fresh salad dressings and, their Jewish Holiday food selection is the best. read more

Pour customer service from "Ceasar" cashier. I think we all been collecting our monopoly figures and of course when you collect certain amount of the instant win for bottles of water, dressings etc. I went to the register with my mom, who's the one what is collecting them. He scanned and after i gave him the coupons it was a total of $5. I asked him why, he rolled his eyes on me and gave me so much actitud that he pulled all the items back and started scanning back item per item. If every time that we are going to collect the coupons are we gonna have this kind of actitud you guys shouldn't do any more rewards or anything like that read more

im not sure how to start off this review ... the only reason youre getting 3 stars is because the customer service was actually really good. came here on a quick rushed lunch, went to look for pre-made sandwiches but found none available, after finally finding 1 that looked somewhat decent i realized im better off getting in line and having someone make me a "signature" sandwich - WHAT A JOKE. 5.99 for a regular miserable looking sub, why didnt i find a subway? only option i had was french roll, so i did that. asked for turkey - had ran out so had to wait for him to cut me some turkey .... not a bad deal, super fresh cut turkey.... now for the additions, the lettuce GROSS - he kept on trying to trim brown off of the lettuce he had available at his station, after throwing away 5 leaves of lettuce he finally was able to salvage 2 gross limp pieces of lettuce in my sandwich, after looking at the rest of the options (tomato,onion,peppers) i realized, S*&T all the other veggies are gross looking and miserable too. couldn't even get tomato (yes, that bad), no cucumber, no peppers, nothing .... seriously nothing. at that point i said, "whatever, just throw some onions on there". My sandwich consisted of mayo, deli mustard, 3 thin slices of turkey, 2 pieces of cheese, 2 gross wilted pieces of lettuce and 6 disgusting pieces of onion. after coming to the realization i was about to pay 5.99 for a pathetic of an excuse sandwich, once at the register the checker noticed i seemed uneasy and asked if everything was ok. I let her know how disappointed i was with their deli, she literally said, "i know, thats why i never shop there, let me see if i can credit the sandwich". I walked out paying for the soda, sandwich was free. Will never get a sandwich from this deli EVER again. the stars are for the customer service -nothing else. read more

I went here for my lunch break with my coworker for her to pick up soup for her cold. I thought to myself since I'm here I might just go ahead and try one of their sandwiches from the deli area. Never again! I ordered the Turkey & Avocado sandwich and it has to be by far the worst sandwich I ever tried. The lettuce and tomato had an old taste to it and the guacamole they used was not fresh. I had to throw away the sandwich. Money was wasted for nothing. I hope Vons can keep up with their freshness in Veggies, etc. This was a big mistake for me. read more

I went into Vons yesterday to grab coffee from the instore starbucks and was surprised at how great my service was. I must admit their bagels are super fresh! Even though they are across the street from Western Bagels, I felt their bagels were bigger, taster and cheaper. I bagged a few bagels and chopped on them while driving back home. I drive 2 miles out of my way to go to Ralph's in Porter Ranch. .... UPDATE: There's a new manager and it had gotten worse. The lines are ridiculous. I left two messages after receiving "we're experiencing high volume of calls" messages both times. I called late on Sunday night once and around 6 on a weeknight. Really? Who else is callIng vons at these times? I left my name phone number and vons card number and never got a call. I'm surprised by how poor the shopping experience has become. read more

I love this Vons, and I've been shopping here since it opened. (Used to be a Ralphs). The Starbucks staff is amazing and I start every shopping trip with one of their lattes. The baristas are fantastic, better than most of them in the stand alone Starbucks stores. The staff at this Vons is super friendly and helpful. In fact, sometimes they are too helpful in produce when I just want to zone out and shop. The store is pretty tiny compared to the Porter Ranch Ralphs or Vons Granada Hills, but that is fine by me. I don't need to hike while I am shopping. The small size makes it perfect to get in and out quickly. The checkers are well trained and know when to call for more lanes to open and keep the lines running smoothly. The only negative about this Vons is that it is constantly besieged by people selling stuff or begging out front. Wish the parking lot had more security to address this problem. read more

It's a grocery store. It's a Vons grocery store. That means it's a step up from a Jons but a step down from a Ralph's Marketplace and is nowhere near being a Gelson's. It's an ok grocery store and meets one's general needs. There's not much of a selection here as far as seafood is concerned and the deli is just so and so at best even for a grocery store deli. More can definitely be asked of a local grocery store as I will have to on occasion drive to other supermarkets to get what I want. But it's just over a mile away so I'll continue to use it as my default grocery store. read more

The store is always clean. Fruits & veggies always fresh. They're alittle expensive on some things but they make up for it by always having what I need & having enough cashiers. The cashiers & other dept are nice. Except this one cashier named Perry. He's not very friendly every time I come in. I notice that he speaks to other customers & smiles but he doesn't say anything to me but what my total is & he doesn't even give eye contact. I hate to say it but I think he doesn't like black people. He's really nice to the white customers ahead of me. So I try to avoid him & go to another cashier. I must say this location has the BEST customer service. Every time I come here, I seem to always park by the produce side. There is always someone in produce restocking or taking out old produce off their shelves. I am always greeted and asked if I need any help and if I do, don't hesitate to ask. The store is well organized and easy to find things and get around. Everyone is courteous and friendly. I always have small conversations with the checkers and baggers. It reminds me of how it use to be back in the day, when everyone was relaxed and took the time to look at you and smile. If the lines gets busy and backed up, management always calls for backup and will open up a register to help out. There was only one place that provided excellent customer service before they closed and that was Gelson's in Northridge. This location reminds me of my experience at the old Gelson's. I typically prefer Vons over any other grocery store because of their cleanliness and consistent customer service.. until today. I gave the cashier, Ana, $25, a 20 and a 5 to cover my groceries, but being the unreasonable and careless woman she was, she did not even look at the money and convinced herself I had given her 15. After much arguing, I gave up, got into another grocery line and returned everything. To anyone else who encounters her please be sure to count your money out loud and precisely to her first before handing over your cash. read more

I have been coming here since way back and it was Hughes, and love vons service, selection and comparable pricing. I can get certain things cheaper at other markets but that seems the norm with shopping for goods. Very convenient if you are taking the metro and want to pick something up for home or guests to eat or drink. read more

Good store to shop at I am handicapped and appreciate that they have electric scooters for their disabled customers to use . I enjoy shopping there every Friday to take advantage of their 5.00 Friday specials , I especially like the meatloaf that they offer in the deli it tastes good . The employees are always friendly and helpful and always offer to help not only their handicapped customers but anyone out to their car and help them load the groceries into their car. read more

Though the parking may suck during the heat and during the daytime, this VONS is always clean and the worker-bees are always nice. Even if you stroll in at 10:30PM without a cart or basket for some ice cream, the people stocking shelves will always ask you if you need assistance. Superb. read more

Since Von's has been renovated it is wonderful. The deli is great, the bakery even better. Customer service is devine. There is always an employee walking down an aisle to help customers. They have a Starbucks in the store and always has someone around to help you. My only concern is when they put cardboard stations on an aisle so that only one shopping cart can go at a time. The aisles are too narrow. However, I think it's better than Ralph's on all counts. Gelson is fine for certain products but very overpriced. read more
