This is Amsterdam's version of Central Park spanning about 120 acres just outside the Canal Ring. This swath of green offers a welcome visual alternative to the monochromatic sea of brick that makes up central Amsterdam. We saw "The Fish" statue by Pablo Picasso, and numerous music, dance, and cabaret performances at the open-air theater during the summer months. It is legal for adults to have sex after dark in this park. They can't be near playgrounds and have to take condoms with them afterwards. Smoking & drinking alcohol is permitted. The foliage in October was spectacular. The park was filled with runners, bikers, birds, mallards & picnickers. The homes bordering the park are magnificent. There is a restaurant inside the park.

Vondelpark is Amsterdam's answer to the Central Park of New York, it spans 120 acres and hosts 10 million visitors every year, the location is central within the city, to the west of Leidseplein and Museumplein. The park is pretty and nice to walk around to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, with the green spaces and the lake being nice to look at. It's generally quite peaceful too, although I did visit during Winter, and in the peak of summer, this could be different with residents and tourists alike wanting to explore and relax in the green spaces. It's generally quite nice to walk around during the daylight hours, but the park becomes a little sketchier at night for all sorts of reasons, I think the lighting in the park could be better and have seen advice online for people to wear bright clothes/lights to avoid being run down by bikes. A tourist attraction in its' own right, this internationally famous park is certainly worth a visit if you're in The Netherlands. 4*

Always a fan of a giant slab of nature in the middle of a city. Europe does this well. I love that this park was easily accessible and gigantic. It was so nice to see a ton of families and individuals enjoying the nature despite the cold, rainy weather. It was very well marked and had multiple entrances. The paths were very large and open and there was a ton of wildlife. Seems like a really wonderful place to take or go for a run. I even saw some people settled on the grass, enjoying a book or conversation. Seems like there's quite a lot of little shops and restaurants along the way as well. Highly recommend you wandering through here as it's easily found and navigated via map.

An amazing park, this is truly the Central Park of Amsterdam. Rent a bike nearby or just walk through this amazing park. A place to go alone, your dog, with others or your family. Surprisingly there's a great brew pub in the middle of the park. You can't miss Vodel Park if you're in Amsterdam. Take an hour or all day. Either way, you'll remember your time here!

Wonderful park right in the heart of Amsterdam. Would highly recommend spending a few hours here exploring the park. Great place to walk, take in the sites, people watch or just laze around and I saw people doing all of it. Just watch out for the speeding cyclists. Almost got rammed a couple of times.

Vondelpark was the first place i visited when i arrived in Amsterdam. It was a lovely hot day and this was a perfect place to wander and relax after my flight. This is a huge park with wide open grassy areas as well as lots of paths for the many bikes that whizz by so please be careful and watch where you are going. On my walk I spotted a lovely blue bridge, lots of willow trees and a huge heron right by the river. There were water fountains and statues and probably lots more interesting things to see as you walk further but I didn't have time. But definitely a great place to relax and unwind on a sunny day.

Not much to really add to this phenomenal park in the center of Amsterdam. It's free to enter but you wouldn't know that when wondering around the first time. It's massive but also walkable in about an hour. It gets very crowded and lots of bikes whizzing around in every direction on the main paths. Most dogs are off their leash, although TECHNICALLY there are "leash rules" in some of the busier areas. Covid-19 has changed a lot of things here in the spring and summer. Mostly they would close off the side entrances to squeeze everyone together at the north and south entrances. I know they want to count and manage who can get inside, but it's still more people crowded together. It's like winning the lottery to live near this park (walking distance) - and maybe I do need to win the lottery to afford this, but it's a beautiful, safe and clean place.

Absolutely perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon!! There are great trails for both biking and walking, loads of people about with dogs as well. Grateful I had a book in my bag and laid in the park for a good couple hours laying and reading in the sun. Definitely worth a visit!

One of my most fond experiences ever. Travel friend ran into her friends, just perchance. They were staying center of the city, and wanted to hang with us. They rented additional bikes from their posh 5 star hotel, and we biked EVERYWHERE..I mean Wittenburg, Jewish Qtr, Centraal Station, Jordaan-- but my favorite ride of all time: A lazy, languorous ride through idyllic Vondelpark! Sights to behold in every corner, lazy, relaxed, and restful Dutch out enjoying the weekend. More than glorious. I highly recommend a visit, if not by foot, then by local choice of transport: bicycle ( sella San Remo seats will never render sore the derrière!)

Such a pretty park. Grab the chance as soon as the sun peeks out.

When the omni-present rain ceases and the sun pokes out its head, seemingly every damn-Dammer heads to Vondelpark, an urban oasis of green grass, ponds, fountains, people grilling in little alminum tins, wine, beer, pot, and a rainbow nation of ethnicities mixing it up together. This park is beautiful, and shouldn't be missed on a sunny day. As if strolling through Vondelpark on a summer afternoon weren't rich enough, wild parrots suddenly alit from a big, leafy tree and flew through the sky with their long, green tails revealing all. Wait, let me restate that. WILD PARROTS!!!!!: one of the coolest things I've ever hoped to see. I've spent years dreaming of seeing the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill. Who knew that it'd take a trip to Amsterdam to finally see these beauties. Vondelpark on its own is definitely worthy but while you're smoking, drinking, and Qing, keep your eyes open and you too might be rewarded with a viewing.

This is a nice park in Amsterdam that has lots of grass, lakes, some places to buy snacks and drinks, a small outdoor theater area, and looping jogging/biking paths. I saw a lot of people on bicycles, joggers, walkers, people just laying out on the grass. It was perfect to hang out and chill at, and on my second trip to Amsterdam, my bf went for a jog in the park while I went for a stroll. And afterwards, we had a little picnic with some food we bought from Albert Cuypmarkt. :)

    Gorgeous park

Loved this park, it is quite large in the middle of Amsterdam. As soon as you walk into the park it is quiet and beautiful. The park is located near the museums area. It is very clean and well maintained. Lots of funds, trees, flowers, cafes, areas for kids and dogs to play. A real treat for people that live in Amsterdam as well as for visitors.

I was expecting a small yoga studio (had only seen the teacher's yoga website) and instead found a whole center with different rooms for yoga, a small cafe, and I hear there is a little shop upstairs. The center is host to many many many many yoga classes/schools, meditation sessions, spirituality workshops, massage, qi cong, etc. Conveniently located right by Vondel park and hidden beneath the trees, you really feel like you are in a safe and warm place when you are there. The energy is quite nice all around. I plan to continue yoga there and will probably check out some of their other offerings soon.

Once the owners of the former Metz store lived here, which is now the Apple Store on Leidseplein. I am not sure who nowadays owns the building, but they are now a spiritual center. You can take workshops there, rent spaces or visit their bookshop. Now if all of this sounds a bit too esotheric for you, don't worry, as they also have an excellent cafeteria. On sunny days you can sit on the terrace, which is nice, cool and quiet. By far the best place in the often overcrowded and noisy Vondelpark. Their prices are quite reasonable and their soup and sanwiches are excellent, from the nearby Vlaamsch Broodhuys. You can also buy individual pieces of fruit, fresh salads and organic food. A hidden gem!

Along these four islands a bicycle road provides connection. The big plus of this park is the water surrounding the islands. You have a nice view on the boats passing by, and on the other side of the canal you can see houseboats. Of course all the water means its probably not suitably for small children who are not accustomed to water: there is no fence around the island. And there are big geese walking around, so you'd better not by Ornithophobic... :-). There are nice wooden docks on Park Island, where you can sit on in the sun. Nature Island is more quite, there is made more room for nature there by placing wooden logs. Yeah, it's not real nature, but it provides shelter for small birds and insects, that kind of stuff. If you go there on Sunday you can see the Museum Tram going by (at least from Easter till the end of October). There's a tram stop in the Park, so you can combine your visit to the park with a ride on the Museum Tram (a seven kilometre track along the Amsterdam Forest). The park is connected to the Olympic Stadium by the Jan Wilsbrug (Jan Wils Bridge), named after the architect of the Olympic Stadium. From the park, you have a nice view on this historic monument. Barbecuing is allowed in this park.
