You can also just take the bike trail all the way to the beach around Parnassia aan Zee or Bloemendaal aan Zee. This area is just the Zoud - South tip of it by the Halfweb (halfway) station. It is exactly halfway between Harleem and Amsterdam. Horse trails, lakes, fishing, sports areas and of course bike trails everywhere. Very beautiful. HIGHLIGHT is watching the planes (the few still flying) taking off and landing from Schipol. They aren't really close but enough to identify if you're a AV-Geek.

There is an amazing jogging trail around the park, and the 'garden center' to the west is a hidden gem. It's private property, though, and only open for limited hours during the summer. Other than that, the famous Rollende Keukens is organized at this park, as is the milkshake festival. Countless conferences. There's even a tv studio. Oh, and Ketelhuis is an amazing spot for some Dutch or European movies. So much to say about this amazing spot.

You pay 2.50 entry, but you get a free 'consumptiebon' with each ticket, which buys you one drink or one popsicle so that's very reasonable. The left side of the playground is all stuff you have to pay for, some kiddy go-karts, little merry-go-rounds, a little train, and a couple of rides like you'd find outside a Dutch grocery store (I think my uncle actually owns a small company that produces those rides. He's kind of a jerk though, so don't use them.) On the other side is an enormous sandbox, really enormous, with large equipment for kids 3 and over to climb. My baby brother loved it as much as we did when we were little. He's barely 3, so he had a little bit of trouble climbing some parts, but he had the time of his life, and I was on stand by to catch him. Meanwhile my father enjoyed a cup of coffee with the other dads at the cafe, which has plenty of tables and chairs overlooking the playground equipment, so you can chat with friends and keep an eye on your kids without venturing into the sandbox.
