NOTE: They moved to 133 Third Street, just around the corner a year ago, but the address doesn't stay updated (this is as of July 2020). Adorable tasting room, cheap samplings, and great people! That's the gist of it. There were X's on the ground for social distancing - 2 X's in between people. There were a few couples including us, and that filled up the bar. Unfortunately, they had to turn a few people away because there wasn't room for them. I don't know if the wines are all sweet, but the ones that were available that day were all very sweet - which I love. I ended up buying a bottle of Marry me Berry to go. Delish! For $5, you get a bunch of samples...I can't remember how many, as well as a slushie - YUM. They have some nice glass tumblers for sale as well, and my husband snagged a couple. One of the best, if not the best, wine experiences had. Ken and Sierra truly made our wine pairing exceptionaly enjoyable. They were knowledgeable, personable and truly patient, while my husband and I endulged in their heavenly creations called.....wine :) While there, I noticed a constant flow of people coming in and out, all with smiling faces. I am sure they will be passing along their positive visits, and only hope that more people come in to give this hidden gem a try. We found this place by accident. We enjoyed the seeing for the trading here. The opportunity to learn about the wines from the owner was an added bonus. If we could, we would have bought each of the 11 wines in the tasting. Each wine brought a new flavor to the table and the fact that not all the wines were made from grapes was another bonus. read more

My husband and I came here last week for the food and wine tasting. They are located on the second floor, along with an antique store. We found a deal on Groupon, but if you call them directly they can give you the same promotion. That way the business can get the full amount without Groupon taking a hefty cut. We had a reservation at 1pm and were seated and served immediately. We had 4 courses of wine and food, and after were able to try smaller sips of the other types of wine they had to offer. We had SUCH a nice time here. Kenn was very informative on the fruit they grow and how the wines are made. He also came up with the food pairings, which were delicious. I will say that they have sweeter wines than what most people are used to. Everything we tried was wonderful and ended up taking 5 bottles home with us. I definitely recommend this place. We will come back and bring some friends next time. read more

This was by far the best flight experience that I've ever had. We got to try 12 wines for only $5 and each pour was at least three mouthfuls worth of wine for me. All the wines were AT LEAST yummy to me, plenty of them were delicious or top notch. Not a single miss for my pallet, though I do like sweeter wines. They had nothing dryer than semi-dry, so be aware of that. But, if your pallet is like mine and you like the M sweet to semi-dry range, then go! More than worth the time and money. The hosts were prompt, explained each wine, and were very friendly. Highly recommend. read more

Been to this winery several times. LOVE their new location right on the street level of the square. I like sweet and semi sweet wines. All of these wines fit the bill. You get to try all of their wines (which is a lot) and it's only $5.00. Also a great place to just have a glass of wine and an appetizer with friends. Went here on a Saturday night with some friends who had purchased groupons and invited us. Had a great time, and will definitely return. Von Klaus is a small quiet shop just above the town square, and it's a good place to get away when you need a peaceful evening out. Their dining area only has two tables, so you know right away it will be a fairly personalized and private experience. The host was gracious, chatting us up with friendly and fun conversation and keeping our bellies happy with cheese plates, bread, and wine. They give you a scorecard to rate the wine so that both you and them know for next time what your preferences are. Overall I'd say I liked about half the selections we had, with the Black Ice being my favorite. They were out of their Reds at the time which was a shame because both my wife and I thought we'd probably end up liking those the most. Oh well, sets up a return visit. Our friends paid, but I believe it was only $25 with the groupon and not much more otherwise. Bottles were roughly $15. I'd for sure pay that again for the experience we had. We were also told some interesting history behind the place; I noticed a Godzilla poster and the host told me how the owner knew the actor who originally played Godzilla long ago. Worth asking about when you're there, as I won't play spoiler on this review. If there were any detractors, I thought the bread and dip could use some enhancement, but the couple we were with loved them, so maybe that's just a taste buds thing. I'm just more in the camp of wanting bread with a little flavor when I am sampling, such as focaccia or something along those lines. They do however have an endless tub of goldfish crackers for munching when you're at the bar. Worth It. read more

This is a cute little shop in the Upper Level Shoppes on Oak St. that sells Von Klaus wine. Stopped in after having lunch at the Garden Party Cafe to try a few wines. Our party of 8 was immediately set up at the counter so we could all have a wine tasting. The woman at the counter was filling in for the day, but she was very nice and friendly. We sampled about 6 wines (some were out) of which I like 2 or 3. We all really enjoyed the Kranbeere Von Klaus so we got a bottle to have at our campfire that night. Overall great experience and I'll have to stop back in next time I am in town to the try the wines they were out of. read more

Wow.... We stopped here on a road trip north, and were completely impressed by the wonderful selection of indigenous wines. These wines are hands down some of the best WI wines I have ever tasted! Highly recommend the port! If you are visiting Baraboo this is a must stop! read more

Again we came from out of town. The web site says open today Thursday 11-5. We got there at 2:09 and they weren't open. The sign said will be back at 2. We shopped at the antique store next door for10 minutes to see if anyone would come back. They did and as we finished up at the antique store we heard them on the phone, so we headed over. By the time we got there, it was all locked up again and closed. They opened for like 2 minutes and closed again. This place is great! If you're like me you will pull up and maybe start to doubt (it's on the second floor), yelp it, then feel reassured about your choice. We were promptly greeted and led to a cute little nook for our wine tasting and pairing. The decor is cute and it is set up to feel intimate. Ken is fantastic. He educates you but then also gives you space to try it and discuss with your partner/group. He promptly returns for the next course and is also just a great guy for good conversation. Visiting my fiance (who is working here in the Madison area), and we came for the wine tasting deal we purchased on groupon. It's cute inside, and the owner was very nice. We were served cheese, bread with dipping oil, shrimp cocktail, and chocolate truffles along with four wine tastings. We tried the Devil's Dry, Cranberry, Glacier Mist, and Wild Cherry. Afterwards we moved onto the bar to sample a few of the other wines (Apfel Von Klaus, Naked Grape, Devil's Red, and Black Ice). I enjoyed all the wines we sampled with the exception of the Apfel Von Klaus, and Black Ice - and that is only because I'm not a fan of apple wines (or juice) in general, and I don't like blackberries. My fiance, who loves blackberries, did enjoy the Black Ice. We purchased a bottle of the Cranberry for my mother, and a bottle of the Naked Grape for ourselves. The Cranberry reminded me of ice wine, which my mother loves, and the Naked Grape reminded me of a Moscato. The wine is very decently priced, and would make a great dessert wine gift for a friend (the wines we sampled are all on the sweet side, with the exception of the Devil's Red which is still slightly sweet). We would love to come back and taste the wines they didn't have at the time, or any new wines they come out with. Definitely stop by this cute little shop and sample their wines! read more
