But what most people don't realize is that this isn't just limited to Scottish food. Their culinary artistry extends to something that you can only find on the menu once a year: a take on American Thanksgiving that managed to be the best Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had. Because when you're an American feeling oddly lonely and a little homesick (though you'd never admit it to anyone else) on a balmy Thursday in November, you can hop off the U8, wander into Hirsch & Hase, and sit down at a communal table, effortlessly joining a conversation between strangers (American expats and Germans) who had just met a few minutes ago to begin with.
