Every time I come here, there are always employees that are eager to help me. They don't disappear…read moreas so often happens in many other stores. When someone saw me looking at puppy collars and found out that I was adopting a Golden, they had lots of good advice! My one complaint is with the Kong crate that I bought. First of all, I have arthritis in my hands, and it just about killed me to get the box open and to get the crate out of the box. When I finally did, I realized it was A USED crate! The pan on the bottom had dog hair and hadn't been cleaned! See pictures below. I didn't even have my pup yet!! I was furious! This was a very expensive crate! On top of that, the bottom latch is bent. It still works though. So, I killed my hands opening the box, got a used item and then had to clean it because I'm picking up my puppy tomorrow. There's no sense in complaining to Pet Smart. It's obviously not their fault. My time is better spent giving this review and preparing this crate for Hope. Kong has a really good reputation which is the reason I bought it. Just goes to show you...you can't trust anyone. Update: I just called Petsmart and they were very happy to give me a new pan for the bottom for the crate, which is just what I asked for! THANK YOU PETSMART!!!

With Florida's rainy season upon us, it brings nasty. dreaded Bufo frog season! Yesterday evening…read moreat dusk, our 24-month-old puppy, Gracie, decided a Bufo frog was a good playmate! She came in the house frantically shaking her head as if her muzzle had been stung by bees. Mouth foaming was next followed by vomiting up her dinner and staggering. As the Emergency Vet put it, "She acted like she was drunk". IMMEDIATE ACTION is necessary to save your pet!! Internet advice claims attention must be done within 15 minutes!! Use a wet washcloth to carefully wash out your pets mouth and gums-rise the washcloth thoroughly between washings -we used 3 washcloths to be sure they were clean of Bufo toxins. Do NOT use a hose to wash out their mouths or allow them to drink water as this could force the toxins into their lungs and cause mortal aspiration! Then rush them to your closest Vet ER!! We bat outta hell'ed it to The VETERINARY MEDICAL CENTER OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY on US1 south of Prima Vista! Open 24 hours a day!! I cannot celebrate enough the fast actions and important care they took with our Gracie! Her vitals looked good (quick actions are imperative!!) but they had us stay for an additional 30 minutes to be certain she didn't have a delayed seizure, which, incidentally, they could have treated with medication. The Vet Med Center sent us home- then amazingly refused to charge anything for their remarkable care as the Vet herself didn't need to address our dog's problem. Huge shout out to the Veterinarian Medical Center of St. Lucie County! While I'm at it- Be sure and protect your pets from Leptospirosis! The inoculations are NOT 100% so it's important to be sure your pets are not eating or drinking anything an infected rodent might have helped themselves to, as in puddles or standing water. It's not a bad idea to keep them indoors at night (Although, as we found out, dusk can be dangerous, too!)! Keep your pets safe! After all, they're cherished family members! The Vet Medical Center is open 24/7. Their number is: (772) 919-8049. Web site: https://www.vetmedcenterslc.com
